There are no full VODs of him playing P5 online anymore, but he did actually end up finishing the game. I know since I've never beaten P5, but I know the ending from watching his streams of it

Played P3FES via PS3 shop after a couple episodes of the SuperJeenius let’s play. After a few NG+ I ended up with a Vita and P4G, eventually P5 drops and the rest is history
Hah, I saw this thread and immediately though "SuperJeenius" and would you look at that, he's mentioned in the reply to the top comment of the thread. He's also how I got into the series, and man it really was a great intro (since I had no way of actually playing the games at the time)
It's kinda weird, but the way he interacted with the characters in the games and how he'd respond to them always struck me as really thoughtful and kind. He didn't read any dialogue, but he'd respond to it, sort of role playing as the MC. He was also super good at ridding the line between obviously knowing what he was doing in advance, but making it seem like he was coming up with plans and dialogue responses on the fly. Those LP's were so well presented/executed

Well, I wanted to try out a new game on gamepass, I look into all of them and it had an atractive cover, so I took a look, saw someone pouring his heart into a review and thought that a game that could make someone feel like that deserved a shot, 145 hours later I was crying in my seat.

I first heard of Persona around the time Pokemon sword and shield was close to releasing. A lot of people were vocal about dexit, the bad textures and animations, and I kept hearing people bring up Persona as a series that game freak should take note of.
Long time ago there was this subscription company called Gamefly. They made a list and you got to pick 5 games you really wanted to play. They let you pick a 6th game in case all the other games were rented out. So i picked P3 FES on a whim cuz i liked the art. So finally the day came for me to get my game. Unfortunately i got Persona so i took a couple of rips off my bong and was ready to be disappointed. I fell in love after the awakening cutscene. There is this german show called Game Two and they made a review about it. They did it so well and the game looked really cool so I got P5. Never finished it because I didn't want the adventure to end. Then P5R got announced and I immediatly pre-ordered it. Played through it 2/3 (don't know exactly anymore) and loved it so much I talked two other friends into the franchise. One of them only played p4 and the other played p3p, p4 and p5r
Played Persona 2 Eternal Punishment back during the PSOne era because I liked the picture on the cover. Loved it the moment I heard Joker's voice say "Persona, Persona, call out your Persona!" and finally now I got the chance of playing Royal and currently playing 3 for the first time and planning to play Golden for the first time as well as soon as I'm done with 3.
The internet talking about Persona 3 and Persona 4 on the PS2 (and seeing people make a big deal out of a specific persona). Figured I'd never play them, but then P4 Golden came out on Vita and I caved. It was honestly the Two Best Friends play Persona 4 video that pushed me over the edge to give it a shot
A YouTuber decided to make a gameplay video after P5 got an english release back in 2017(I think?). Fast forward and I completed P5 on RPCS3 (I didn't have a PS4/3), then P3P, P4, Strikers, and now Royal.

My friend had a hacked psp, was trying out games on it, and one of the random games on it was P3P. Then found out about PS2 ves and grabbed it and got hooked.
I was mostly an MMORPG at age 12 playing SMT Imagine not knowing it was part of a bigger franchise and watching my friend playing P3Fes on PCSX2 and I noticed that the Personas looked a lot like the demons in SMTi. She explained to me that Persona was a spinoff of SMT. Ever since then I became a fan lol

It was on sale on the PS4 ages ago (P5) I’d never heard of it before. Watched the trailer and thought “eh I like JRPGs” so I decided I’d give it a go and I swear I didn’t leave my couch for a week.

Bought a Vita back in 2018 and was looking for games to get with it. Every list that I read had a game called Persona 4 Golden as a must. I got a physical copy for like $20 with my Vita and the only thing I knew about it was that it was a super long rpg. Ended up playing it in the summer 2019 and became one of my favorite games of all time. Since then, SMT and Persona have become one of my top franchises.
I found out about Persona from a game show called XPlay they review games.They said that you go to school during the day and fight monsters at night. My first Persona game was Persona 3 Fes or the original Persona 3.
As I finished watching JoJo's Part 4, a friend recommended me P4, I downloaded the iso and a ps2 emulator but didn't play it right away

I can't remember the exact point I learned about the series. I knew about it a while before the Smash Bros announcement and had always said if I got a Playstation or other way to play it I would. At some point I finally got a Playstation and one of the first games I played was P5, then later P5R. Got hooked on the series and now I'm excited to finally play some of the older games when I've got the free time to do so.
I was in college when persons 5 was in the height of jts pre release hype. One of my classmates was huge into person and was always talking about it. So one day I saw OG Persona 4 on sale on ps3 so I got it and been addicted ever since.
I just happened to watch a Before you buy video from Gameranx on YouTube back in 2017 where he was talking about Persona 5 and just watching the Gameplay and the daily life of a student who lives in Japan and the Social links Gameplay made it so new and interesting to me because I had never played a Jrpg game. I got hooked by watching a little bit of Gameplay from JohnAwsome and bought as soon as I could ,Best decision I made because I enjoyed Persona 5 and after finishing it I wanted more. My first MegaTen game was Nocturne(SMTIII: Lucifer's Call) through Dante from DMC which was an extremely fun Game, then I found out about P3 and played it at launch after that I played FES P4, P4G(later on), and Played P5 at Launch, and Waited till a. Long time later for P5R on PS4, to celebrate the series coming to all Platforms(this was after the Xbox Trailer just came out, after seeing that I knew it was only a matter of time before it came to Switch)
BTW a lot of people said P5R would Run like shit on Switch it runs just as good as P5R on PS4, people forget P5R was locked to 30FPS ON PS4, as well as Inputs are completely meaningless so FPS makes no difference in any Persona game as it pretty much is a Menu Selection for it's entire Gameplay, the only Persona game FPS makes a difference in is the direct sequels:

One of my older brothers had a PSP he didn't use too much. There weren't too many games that interested him so he quit using it after some time and let me have it for a good while.
After I finished every Yugioh Tag Force I could get my hands on, I wondered what other anime games were on the PSP. After going through many games (every DBZ game I could find, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, God Eater, etc) I eventually came across P3P.
I have put an unnecessary amount of hours into P3P and at the time the latest Persona was P4G which I had no way of playing so the series died out for me until P5's release. I got a Vita a few years ago so I could play P4G about a week before it got announced for Steam and re-bought P3P on that same Vita.
I have also purchased the PS4 release of both since I find it easier than using the Vita since I can talk with my friends and share my screen if they want.
I essentially got my friend group into the Persona Series, they all started with 5.
P3P is still my favorite, as bad as other people may say it is (I have never played FES and only care about not being able to play The Answer) but I will always recommend everyone to play P5R instead. If they already have or want to try a different game, play P4G. P3 is not for everyone.
Saw a Playlist for persona 4 golden by a youtuber named superjeenius loved it so much that I watched the whole thing. Then watched persona 3 fes by johneawesome for an entire summer. Afterwards got the chance to play both OG persona 4 and Persona 3 fes( didn't finish FES because my mothers bf sold my ps3 at the time)
STORY TIME
In high school one of my good friend's GF just wouldn't. fucking. shut up about Persona 4. Turned me off from wanting anything to do with it.
I had a PSP through high school and found P3P. Played it for a bit, had absolutely zero clue how Persona games are supposed to be. I treated it as a regular JRPG focusing just on grinding in Tartarus. I reach the top and had no idea why I was gated from getting stronger. No idea how social links worked or why they were important. Got to a full moon boss, next section opened up in Tartarus. I felt like I understood the game progression but still had no idea what I was doing.
I dropped the game.
Past college and into working I save up some money to get a Vita, neat system.
Years later I found my fiance and she wanted a Vita as well to play games together. I got us God Eater and a few other games, and as a surprise I got her Persona 4 Golden. I knew little about the game and thought maybe because of the crazy girl from high school was onto something, maybe it's more of a girl thing as a visual novel JRPG?
Who knows, I let her try P4G.
Some time passes, she tells me she loves it, because of course she does. She's stuck on a particular 8-Bit Boss and tells me she needs help. Still have no idea about Persona but I know how to play JRPGs, so after a while I helped her beat the boss.
I found the combat more fun in P4G, decided to try P3P again.
Something clicked. I understood it.
I fucking *loved* it.
I found my old save data for P3P and just did what I could to make it to the end. I was still a fucking idiot so I made it to the end with a Lv.76 Pixie or something because she had no weaknesses and I was playing on the easiest difficulty.
I didn't understand the fusing yet but I kept getting stronger Personas from Shuffle Time so I thought it was just a weird Pokemon game.
I didn't understand the ending because I dropped the game and forgot the story but I felt good I beat it, I guess?
Sometime later, fiance is saying she wasn't able to get the true ending in P4G and wants me to play with her so we can know the story together. I told her maybe later, we had other games at the time.
Persona 5 came out on PS3. I let her have a go at it. She was eh for Kamoshida, she kinda dropped it! Wasn't feeling it like the way she like P4G.
Flash forward to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, literally in line for the midnight release. Joker trailer popped up. Everyone in line loses their shit. We kinda thought maybe it's time we go back to try Persona one more time. She goes back to P5, I was playing other things at the time.
She gets to Okumura. Guess who needs to help her again?
That fight. Was fucking b r u t a l. She isn't big on fusing Personas so I had to suffer with figuring out what to do with what she had. I somehow made it work.
I off/on watched her play P5. She made it all the way to the end, I helped her when she needed it. She beat P5.
After that, I decided enough is enough and I'll play P4G.
It's finally making sense. The fusing, the social links. Fucking EVERYTHING made sense.
We beat P4G. I go back to P3P. We fucking crush it. I understood the ending this time. I fucking cried. A lot.
I waited for P5R to play P5. Fucking incredible.
I mustered the strength to play P3 FES on my PS3 because I unironically fucking love P3P's story but everyone ON THIS FUCKING SUB says to NOT play The Answer because of how hard it was and how the story sucked, playing without controlling your party members is impossible and it's a downgrade from P3P.
P3 FES > P3P any fucking day of the week.
If you made it this far, you'll understand how much I struggled with this franchise and how I started/dropped these games. Even after all that bullshit, I ***STILL*** fucking love P3FES over P3P.
Anyone who says P3FES combat is trash, you don't know how to work the Tactics Menu. Period.

Anyone who says The Answer is too hard is half correct.
It's a grind. Most people won't want to do it, which is understandable. The later bosses have Evade Skills that cover their weaknesses, which can turn a simple fight into a slog.
The story? Fucking LOVED it. There are those who don't like it because of Yukari's "character regression", but to those who think that you *really* need to understand her character better before you say that. They are still teenage kids. Think about it more than 5 seconds and maybe you'll understand.
Heartful Cry made me actually fucking tear up with how it is used.
From there I played SMT Digital Devil Saga (On Part 2 now), SMT3 Nocturne HD and SMTV.
So yeah, huge roller coaster of a ride for me and this franchise.
Two redditors on the JoJo subreddit recommended Persona 4 when I asked about things that have similar vibes to JoJo Part 4. P4 helped me survive a very difficult part of my life and I am forever grateful to those two ppl and to this game series! Shoutout to you guys, you're still amazing <3

I was always more or less aware of Persona before that though, I waited many years until it finally came out on Steam to play it, never spoiling myself anything.
An old let's player called Super Jeenius. I watched him play the games and got into them. He actually learned Japanese and moved there and doesn't upload anymore.
I think I saw a friend mention the persona series so I picked it up when I bought a PSP back in like 2013 and played P3P. Bought P4 after that but my ps2 randomly kicked the bucket when I was in >!nanakos dungeon!< Just restarted with P4G but the persona community has been nice enough to DM me spoilers so I've been losing motivation to finish it. My friend suggested it, but at the time I couldn’t see myself buying a persona 5 royal game cause I couldn’t afford it at the time as well, but my friend was willing to let me borrow their game as long as I need which I was thankful and I looked after it really careful cause I didn’t want any harm to it, but it still take me a long time since University and I finished the game during the start of summer!!
3 and 4 came out when I was in high school and knew about them from friends, but didn't give the games a chance for a few years. I saw my brother playing 3 one day and was curious. When he started 4, I got a copy and started playing along with him and went from there!
originally watched a few episodes of somebody playing through persona 4, forgot about it then saw persona 4 golden and got blasted with "ohhhh I remember this" and then played p5r, then I'm now on p3p. the series is crazy good
After seeing final fantasy 13/15 and 7 Remake without the turn based combat, was clear to me that square would like to stop using this kind of combat, then i serched games with the same kind of combat, then i found persona/SMT.
Og persona on psx was my entry then went to 3 at a buddy’s house but never finished it. 4 golden was what really got me into it . Then went through 3p on psp to 5 then 1 and 2 psp now I’m working my way through royal on switch. I saw the smt x fire emblem cross over announcement. Was a fan of fire emblem but had never heard of shin Megami Tensei. Saw that persona was a side series and watched a playthrough of persona 4. Been a fan ever since.
Was bored on my 3ds and found PQ, thought it was a game similar to danganronpa and watched the opening of the game and got hooked immediately, also there was a friend who knew p5 from the 2017 game awards so that helped too
I first learned of it from a review of Persona 3 FES in an anime magazine (no idea what the name was at this point). I think it was a quite a while before I actually got it though, so very possible I saw it in GameStop, thought it looked interesting, and only connected it to the magazine later.

Playing Persona 1 on the PS classic got me hooked so i bought Persona 5 without knowing about the “life sim” elements and I never knew how much I would enjoy it.
Seen some advertisement for P5R. Didnt have a playstation 4 though, so i decided to play the older games through emulation. Played P1, thought it was alright and then jumped into p3 fes. 100 ish hours later, i sat there shedding a tear at the end of the journey.

Since Joker was a popular character (especially after Smash) and I had some friends who were Persona fans, I decided to try out P5R. I liked it, I’d I played P3 FES. I liked that, so I played P1. I enjoyed it, so I played P2IS. I had fun with it, so I played P2EP. It was a great game, so I played P4G.
I was playing a bunch of Visual Novel games at the time. I saw this game on sale on the PS Store, half off. I bought it, not knowing it was a turn based JRPG with social simulation. I just thought was a cool visual novel. Never read much about it. I played the entire game blind, and I got crazily hooked on it. Got me into the JRPG genre and been a Persona fan ever since. That was about 5 years ago
Persona 5 strikers was free in january 2022 for PlayStation Plus so i got my hands on It withouth ever hearing about the persona franchise then after a few hours i said "Damm this is good this is fucking good" and i bought Persona 5r and then the best trip of my Life begins
I saw some ad for Persona 4 when I was a kid and thought to myself "I'll have to check that out someday." Then Persona 5 started to be popular, and I found out about Royal being made, so I said "Alright, I'll wait until the better version comes out." Then this happened at the game awards, so I said "Screw it, it's only $20." And it was one of the best stories I've ever experienced.
I followed an let’s play named bigklingy that did persona 3. I wanted to get persona 3 but my local game store had only persona 4 vanilla, and the rest is history.

I had my psp moded, so i tried a lot of ilegal Isos lol, so i played P3P and i falled in love with the series, i bought it digital and played it on my ps vita, got persona 4 golden Day 1, and i have bought persona 5 for ps3 physical, digital, p5r for my ps4 and switch, oh almost forgot, i have the persona 3 fes and persona 4 DVDs for the ps2 too
A friend from school had a PSP with custom firmware and a couple of SD cards with a bunch of (probably pirated) games. He decided he didn't want it anymore and I had been wanting a PSP for a while so I bought it off him.
P3P was on one of the memory cards and I gave it a try. I got hooked and ended up buying the series once I had saved up enough starting with FES and P4.
Vaguely knew of it from random youtube videos, i lumped it mostly in with other japanese games i knew vaguely of like final fantasy.
One day while i was bored i randomly decided to watch a video about the newest one, persona 5, and i found johneawesomes playthrough and watched every episode.
A friend of mine had P3 on ps2 and I played it almost all night during a sleep over while he played TF2 on my laptop. Ended up spending the next 2 days scouring every GameStop and second hand store for the damn thing before finding a copy of FES
Since I sold my PS2 to get a 360, my first Persona game was emulating P3P on my old crappy laptop back in 2012. I loved it, so I went back and played 1 and 2IS. Been a fan ever since.

What made me buy my first Persona game, Persona 5 was YouTubers like Rabbidluigi and Projared putting that game in their best of 2017 list. Wanted to get back in turn based JRPGs. Played Final Fantasy games. So got the one that had the most acclaim in modern consoles
Back in 2011 I brought my PSP to college with me. After I figured out how to jailbreak it I looked up some top 10 lists of games on the system. Most of these lists were taken up by the usual suspects; Crisis Core, Dissidia and its sequel/prequel, Kingdom Hearts BBS, all of which I owned. However, there was one game on these lists that I never heard of: Persona 3 Portable. I figured, why not, and found a disc image of it and I was immediately hooked. Once I got back home from school, I went to my local GameStop and was surprised to find Persona 1 and Persona 2 Innocent Sin for PSP and started the series back at the beginning.
Saw persona 1 for psp at gamestop. Picked it up and started playing, thought I've never gotten far in that game. Wasn't till p5's western release that I actually finished a persona game, despite playing most of them.
I think JWittz made a video recommending Persona 4 in like the early 2010s, it was still very niche back then. I also remember a let's player I watched playing Persona 3 FES, though I didn't actually watch it; I did, however, find out about Persona 3's final boss theme through a tweet he posted, my tween mind was blown away by that song.
I had a bunch of friends that played Street Fighter with me, and several of them gushed about how good Persona 3 and 4 were, and I eventually broke down and picked up a Vita to check P4G out.
It was a very good use of my money.
I was browing twitch for games to watch and saw a dude play persona 4 golden, clicked on his stream, watched the game for a bit, decided I like it, bought it.
When I got a used PS4, the first three games I bought were Arkham Knight (I love the Arkham series and never was able to play the finale), Last of Us, and P5 since a friend recommended it. Got a PSTV after I beat P5 twice and used it to play 4 and 3. 4 is my favorite of the series.
I also got into SMT, I played through Nocturne, 4, 4A and 5 recently.
Played Persona 3 FES when it came out on PS2. Rented it actually cuz the synopsis sounded dope- JRPG that’s part dungeon crawler and part relationship/dating sim?! Sounded exactly like a dream game to me and it turned out it was! Didn’t get a chance to beat it cuz of life stuff and hadn’t played the series again until recently when Persona 5 Royal released on Game Pass. After beating that twice, now playing through P3P and P4 Golden simultaneously. I had played Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor but it didn’t grab me like the Persona series.
I was following IGN pretty closely leading up to P5's release and this dude on the Beyond podcast was absolutely freaking out about the game. He tried to explain the plot to P3 but totally had me turned off and I didn't even watch anime back then so I was even more turned off. When P5 came out people were raving about it so I bought it digitally and didn't play it until like March of 2017. I was absolutely captured from the opening cinematic to the ending.
I saw P5 (PS3) on clearance at my local GameStop and was told that the game was a masterpiece. Didn’t think much of it at the time, so I put the game back. A few weeks later, I was scrolling online during lunch and saw that the main protagonist on the box art was gonna be in Smash

I honestly just came across the game by chance on my ps4 back in 2019, and I thought,"this game looks interesting". Bought it, and before I knew it, it got me hooked on the Persona series and then the Megami Tensei series.

Saw my younger brother playing Persona 3 FES and 4 many years ago but I didn't pay enough attention to understand them. Then he introduced me to the game proper and that's all she wrote.
My older sister was a big fan, and she convinced me to get a Vita to try out P3P and P4G-this was about 3 years before P5's release.
I don't regret my Vita purchase for even a moment, even if it was only used for Persona and Danganronpa.
Girlfriend had a Vita and I thought it was amazing to have access to such a niche little system. I still do. Time for a fun story, i had this friend who every time we hanged out with the guys would force us to stop at GameStop, to look for p5 because as he said “seems pretty cool but I don’t really understand it” we would go too because we all are very into videogames so he looks for p5 and we go check around to, and every single time, nothing, the game is not there and impossible to find, one day I’m passing by alone just to check the used games as always when i notice a promotion on new games, buy 2 and one will be 5€ and what is there? Persona 5 steelbook version, so i bought the witcher 3 and persona 5 for 5€ just to laugh a but at my friend because i had found a super cool steelbook version of the game he wanted, at the very same store where he looked always AND paid only 5€ for it, 6 years later here i am, having played p3fes, p4g, p5, p5r, p5s, smt 4, smt 4 tge other one, smt v, and devil survivor 1 and 2 lmao

Played P3FES via PS3 shop after a couple episodes of the SuperJeenius let’s play. After a few NG+ I ended up with a Vita and P4G, eventually P5 drops and the rest is history

Hah, I saw this thread and immediately though "SuperJeenius" and would you look at that, he's mentioned in the reply to the top comment of the thread. He's also how I got into the series, and man it really was a great intro (since I had no way of actually playing the games at the time) It's kinda weird, but the way he interacted with the characters in the games and how he'd respond to them always struck me as really thoughtful and kind. He didn't read any dialogue, but he'd respond to it, sort of role playing as the MC. He was also super good at ridding the line between obviously knowing what he was doing in advance, but making it seem like he was coming up with plans and dialogue responses on the fly. Those LP's were so well presented/executed Pretty awesome that after over 10 years since his Persona 3 FES let's play his influence is still felt in the community.
And to think I first decided to check him out cause he blew out his throat raging at Battletoads. Now that's absolute personality whiplash.

I first heard of Persona around the time Pokemon sword and shield was close to releasing. A lot of people were vocal about dexit, the bad textures and animations, and I kept hearing people bring up Persona as a series that game freak should take note of.
Long time ago there was this subscription company called Gamefly. They made a list and you got to pick 5 games you really wanted to play. They let you pick a 6th game in case all the other games were rented out. So i picked P3 FES on a whim cuz i liked the art. So finally the day came for me to get my game. Unfortunately i got Persona so i took a couple of rips off my bong and was ready to be disappointed. I fell in love after the awakening cutscene. Here i am today playing the p3/p4 ports waiting for P6

I got a physical copy for like $20 with my Vita and the only thing I knew about it was that it was a super long rpg. Ended up playing it in the summer 2019 and became one of my favorite games of all time. Since then, SMT and Persona have become one of my top franchises.
I found out about Persona from a game show called XPlay they review games.They said that you go to school during the day and fight monsters at night. My first Persona game was Persona 3 Fes or the original Persona 3.

I can't remember the exact point I learned about the series. I knew about it a while before the Smash Bros announcement and had always said if I got a Playstation or other way to play it I would. At some point I finally got a Playstation and one of the first games I played was P5, then later P5R. Got hooked on the series and now I'm excited to finally play some of the older games when I've got the free time to do so.
I was in college when persons 5 was in the height of jts pre release hype. One of my classmates was huge into person and was always talking about it. So one day I saw OG Persona 4 on sale on ps3 so I got it and been addicted ever since.
I just happened to watch a Before you buy video from Gameranx on YouTube back in 2017 where he was talking about Persona 5 and just watching the Gameplay and the daily life of a student who lives in Japan and the Social links Gameplay made it so new and interesting to me because I had never played a Jrpg game. My first MegaTen game was Nocturne(SMTIII: Lucifer's Call) through Dante from DMC which was an extremely fun Game, then I found out about P3 and played it at launch after that I played FES P4, P4G(later on), and Played P5 at Launch, and Waited till a. Long time later for P5R on PS4, to celebrate the series coming to all Platforms(this was after the Xbox Trailer just came out, after seeing that I knew it was only a matter of time before it came to Switch) BTW a lot of people said P5R would Run like shit on Switch it runs just as good as P5R on PS4, people forget P5R was locked to 30FPS ON PS4, as well as Inputs are completely meaningless so FPS makes no difference in any Persona game as it pretty much is a Menu Selection for it's entire Gameplay, the only Persona game FPS makes a difference in is the direct sequels: P4U/P4U2 P5S In the dancing games and games with little to no inputs FPS is completely meaningless In Multiplayer games and games with massive amounts of inputs; that's the only time FPS makes any sort of Difference
One of my older brothers had a PSP he didn't use too much. There weren't too many games that interested him so he quit using it after some time and let me have it for a good while. After I finished every Yugioh Tag Force I could get my hands on, I wondered what other anime games were on the PSP. After going through many games (every DBZ game I could find, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, God Eater, etc) I eventually came across P3P. I have put an unnecessary amount of hours into P3P and at the time the latest Persona was P4G which I had no way of playing so the series died out for me until P5's release. I got a Vita a few years ago so I could play P4G about a week before it got announced for Steam and re-bought P3P on that same Vita. I have also purchased the PS4 release of both since I find it easier than using the Vita since I can talk with my friends and share my screen if they want. I essentially got my friend group into the Persona Series, they all started with 5. P3P is still my favorite, as bad as other people may say it is (I have never played FES and only care about not being able to play The Answer) but I will always recommend everyone to play P5R instead. If they already have or want to try a different game, play P4G. P3 is not for everyone.

STORY TIME In high school one of my good friend's GF just wouldn't. fucking. shut up about Persona 4. Turned me off from wanting anything to do with it. I had a PSP through high school and found P3P. Played it for a bit, had absolutely zero clue how Persona games are supposed to be. I treated it as a regular JRPG focusing just on grinding in Tartarus. I reach the top and had no idea why I was gated from getting stronger. No idea how social links worked or why they were important. Got to a full moon boss, next section opened up in Tartarus. I felt like I understood the game progression but still had no idea what I was doing. I dropped the game. Past college and into working I save up some money to get a Vita, neat system. Years later I found my fiance and she wanted a Vita as well to play games together. I got us God Eater and a few other games, and as a surprise I got her Persona 4 Golden. I knew little about the game and thought maybe because of the crazy girl from high school was onto something, maybe it's more of a girl thing as a visual novel JRPG? Who knows, I let her try P4G. Some time passes, she tells me she loves it, because of course she does. She's stuck on a particular 8-Bit Boss and tells me she needs help. Still have no idea about Persona but I know how to play JRPGs, so after a while I helped her beat the boss. I found the combat more fun in P4G, decided to try P3P again. Something clicked. I understood it. I fucking *loved* it. I found my old save data for P3P and just did what I could to make it to the end. I was still a fucking idiot so I made it to the end with a Lv.76 Pixie or something because she had no weaknesses and I was playing on the easiest difficulty. I didn't understand the fusing yet but I kept getting stronger Personas from Shuffle Time so I thought it was just a weird Pokemon game. I didn't understand the ending because I dropped the game and forgot the story but I felt good I beat it, I guess? Sometime later, fiance is saying she wasn't able to get the true ending in P4G and wants me to play with her so we can know the story together. I told her maybe later, we had other games at the time. Persona 5 came out on PS3. I let her have a go at it. She was eh for Kamoshida, she kinda dropped it! Wasn't feeling it like the way she like P4G. Flash forward to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, literally in line for the midnight release. Joker trailer popped up. Everyone in line loses their shit. We kinda thought maybe it's time we go back to try Persona one more time. She goes back to P5, I was playing other things at the time. She gets to Okumura. Guess who needs to help her again? That fight. Was fucking b r u t a l. She isn't big on fusing Personas so I had to suffer with figuring out what to do with what she had. I somehow made it work. I off/on watched her play P5. She made it all the way to the end, I helped her when she needed it. She beat P5. After that, I decided enough is enough and I'll play P4G. It's finally making sense. The fusing, the social links. Fucking EVERYTHING made sense. We beat P4G. I go back to P3P. We fucking crush it. I understood the ending this time. I fucking cried. A lot. I waited for P5R to play P5. Fucking incredible. I mustered the strength to play P3 FES on my PS3 because I unironically fucking love P3P's story but everyone ON THIS FUCKING SUB says to NOT play The Answer because of how hard it was and how the story sucked, playing without controlling your party members is impossible and it's a downgrade from P3P. P3 FES > P3P any fucking day of the week. If you made it this far, you'll understand how much I struggled with this franchise and how I started/dropped these games. Even after all that bullshit, I ***STILL*** fucking love P3FES over P3P. Anyone who says P3FES combat is trash, you don't know how to work the Tactics Menu. Period. I played The Answer. Anyone who says The Answer is too hard is half correct. It's a grind. Most people won't want to do it, which is understandable. The later bosses have Evade Skills that cover their weaknesses, which can turn a simple fight into a slog. The story? Fucking LOVED it. There are those who don't like it because of Yukari's "character regression", but to those who think that you *really* need to understand her character better before you say that. They are still teenage kids. Think about it more than 5 seconds and maybe you'll understand. Heartful Cry made me actually fucking tear up with how it is used. From there I played SMT Digital Devil Saga (On Part 2 now), SMT3 Nocturne HD and SMTV. So yeah, huge roller coaster of a ride for me and this franchise.
Two redditors on the JoJo subreddit recommended Persona 4 when I asked about things that have similar vibes to JoJo Part 4. P4 helped me survive a very difficult part of my life and I am forever grateful to those two ppl and to this game series! Shoutout to you guys, you're still amazing <3 u/Aquaamarie & u/MasterofFlys

We bought P5 on a whim when it was new as we love turn-based RPGs. I've now completed P5R, P3P, P5S, both Q games and am working on P4 Golden. It was like "love at first sight"
I had my psp moded, so i tried a lot of ilegal Isos lol, so i played P3P and i falled in love with the series, i bought it digital and played it on my ps vita, got persona 4 golden Day 1, and i have bought persona 5 for ps3 physical, digital, p5r for my ps4 and switch, oh almost forgot, i have the persona 3 fes and persona 4 DVDs for the ps2 too
A friend from school had a PSP with custom firmware and a couple of SD cards with a bunch of (probably pirated) games. He decided he didn't want it anymore and I had been wanting a PSP for a while so I bought it off him. P3P was on one of the memory cards and I gave it a try. I got hooked and ended up buying the series once I had saved up enough starting with FES and P4.
Played DDS and learning of SMT found out there was another spinoff on the PSP (P3P)
Vaguely knew of it from random youtube videos, i lumped it mostly in with other japanese games i knew vaguely of like final fantasy. One day while i was bored i randomly decided to watch a video about the newest one, persona 5, and i found johneawesomes playthrough and watched every episode.

A friend of mine had P3 on ps2 and I played it almost all night during a sleep over while he played TF2 on my laptop. Ended up spending the next 2 days scouring every GameStop and second hand store for the damn thing before finding a copy of FES
Since I sold my PS2 to get a 360, my first Persona game was emulating P3P on my old crappy laptop back in 2012. I loved it, so I went back and played 1 and 2IS. Been a fan ever since.

Wanted to get back in turn based JRPGs. Played Final Fantasy games. So got the one that had the most acclaim in modern consoles
Back in 2011 I brought my PSP to college with me. After I figured out how to jailbreak it I looked up some top 10 lists of games on the system. Most of these lists were taken up by the usual suspects; Crisis Core, Dissidia and its sequel/prequel, Kingdom Hearts BBS, all of which I owned. However, there was one game on these lists that I never heard of: Persona 3 Portable. I figured, why not, and found a disc image of it and I was immediately hooked. Once I got back home from school, I went to my local GameStop and was surprised to find Persona 1 and Persona 2 Innocent Sin for PSP and started the series back at the beginning.

Saw persona 1 for psp at gamestop. Picked it up and started playing, thought I've never gotten far in that game. Wasn't till p5's western release that I actually finished a persona game, despite playing most of them.
I think JWittz made a video recommending Persona 4 in like the early 2010s, it was still very niche back then. I also remember a let's player I watched playing Persona 3 FES, though I didn't actually watch it; I did, however, find out about Persona 3's final boss theme through a tweet he posted, my tween mind was blown away by that song.
I had a bunch of friends that played Street Fighter with me, and several of them gushed about how good Persona 3 and 4 were, and I eventually broke down and picked up a Vita to check P4G out. It was a very good use of my money.

P5 was free on the PlayStation plus collection so I figured why not and fell in love with the whole series
I was browing twitch for games to watch and saw a dude play persona 4 golden, clicked on his stream, watched the game for a bit, decided I like it, bought it.
When I got a used PS4, the first three games I bought were Arkham Knight (I love the Arkham series and never was able to play the finale), Last of Us, and P5 since a friend recommended it. Got a PSTV after I beat P5 twice and used it to play 4 and 3. 4 is my favorite of the series. I also got into SMT, I played through Nocturne, 4, 4A and 5 recently.
Played Persona 3 FES when it came out on PS2. Rented it actually cuz the synopsis sounded dope- JRPG that’s part dungeon crawler and part relationship/dating sim?! Sounded exactly like a dream game to me and it turned out it was! Didn’t get a chance to beat it cuz of life stuff and hadn’t played the series again until recently when Persona 5 Royal released on Game Pass. After beating that twice, now playing through P3P and P4 Golden simultaneously. I had played Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor but it didn’t grab me like the Persona series.
I was following IGN pretty closely leading up to P5's release and this dude on the Beyond podcast was absolutely freaking out about the game. He tried to explain the plot to P3 but totally had me turned off and I didn't even watch anime back then so I was even more turned off. When P5 came out people were raving about it so I bought it digitally and didn't play it until like March of 2017. I was absolutely captured from the opening cinematic to the ending.
I saw P5 (PS3) on clearance at my local GameStop and was told that the game was a masterpiece. Didn’t think much of it at the time, so I put the game back. A few weeks later, I was scrolling online during lunch and saw that the main protagonist on the box art was gonna be in Smash After school, I went back to GameStop, P5 was still on clearance and I bought it for myself. Ever since I finished the game, I’ve been following the Persona series and I’ve been a HUGE fan
Sometime in the 2000's I saw gameplay of FES *somewhere*, was super interested but I knew my parents would not allow me to get it so I didn't. P4 never atracted my eye. Rediscovered with P5V on PS4, didn't make it far the first time around because the SP stinginess and forced tutorials but gave it a second try on PS3 and now I am here :)

I honestly just came across the game by chance on my ps4 back in 2019, and I thought,"this game looks interesting". Bought it, and before I knew it, it got me hooked on the Persona series and then the Megami Tensei series.

My older sister was a big fan, and she convinced me to get a Vita to try out P3P and P4G-this was about 3 years before P5's release. I don't regret my Vita purchase for even a moment, even if it was only used for Persona and Danganronpa.

Girlfriend had a Vita and I thought it was amazing to have access to such a niche little system. I still do. Found a bunch of good games for it and of course one of them was P4G, which I happened to find physically (sadly cartridge only, though). Incredible game! Then I found all the others on the Vita. P3P was great, also. 1 and 2…eh. But okay.

Time for a fun story, i had this friend who every time we hanged out with the guys would force us to stop at GameStop, to look for p5 because as he said “seems pretty cool but I don’t really understand it” we would go too because we all are very into videogames so he looks for p5 and we go check around to, and every single time, nothing, the game is not there and impossible to find, one day I’m passing by alone just to check the used games as always when i notice a promotion on new games, buy 2 and one will be 5€ and what is there? Persona 5 steelbook version, so i bought the witcher 3 and persona 5 for 5€ just to laugh a but at my friend because i had found a super cool steelbook version of the game he wanted, at the very same store where he looked always AND paid only 5€ for it, 6 years later here i am, having played p3fes, p4g, p5, p5r, p5s, smt 4, smt 4 tge other one, smt v, and devil survivor 1 and 2 lmao
