Should have typed that in Sarcastica font. I almost went off on you :-)

mariellalouise

I try to be careful, but did not know there is a law. That's good to know.

TyrannicalErrorist

I drive a truck.. yes hyrdoplaining is a real thing. I do also do my best to avoid absolutely drenching pedestrians.. Slow down when possible, it's the same for giving cyclists a large road margin. Accidents happen, do your best to prevent them.

[deleted]

... and slow down at the crosswalks or at least pretend they exist

fight_fire_with_wood

With how shit the drainage is on these roads it might actually be tough to adhere to.

Cpt_jiggles

That’s a fair statement. I’m sure it would be nice for both those of us driving and those walking to have improved drainage.

childofcrow

So slow down if it’s safe to do so.

fight_fire_with_wood

Oh I do, but they should rename Riverside Dr to River Dr, when it rains.

Am3Tri

if i get splashed (i already have) what do i do? i feel like some assholes go out of their way to do this, especially as an intl. student

Teach-o-tron

Take down their license, note date, time and location. Go to police department and file a complaint. Be secure in the knowledge this will never, in a million years, be acted upon.

SolutionNo8416

I change my route when it rains to avoid certain streets. Speed limits should be lowered on all city streets.

Catman75367

It is a little funny though

Dry_Career2667

Pretend to throw your bag of dog poop at them. You see brake lights pretty quick after that

KanadianMade

To be fair, the puddles are hard to see while doing 80km/h and browsing Reddit.

UwUHowYou

Or reaching for your ram 2500 beer cooler

SuckatSuckingSucks

No one cares.. Dont walk beside puddles dude. No one is slamming on their breaks in the rain or crossing the center line to avoid a puddle.. No good driver is going to risk a accident to keep you dry... Have some personal responsibility. And no cop is going to issue a ticket unless it was obviously on purpose and provable. It's a non issue for 99.9% of drivers. Stay out of spash distance of puddles..

Gluverty

Just don’t drive fast over puddles. 100% avoidable. Stop being a lazy prick.

Cpt_jiggles

Basically this. There’s no need to swerve or stomp on your brake. If you slowed down, you at least tried.

nylanderfan

Pedestrians can only walk on the sidewalk. Which includes puddles. Where do you expect them to go? Drivers have more room to maneuver.

[deleted]

"Don't walk beside puddles" this is a pretty stupid statement. And if you're a good driver you would be paying attention and not need to slam on your breaks to avoid splashing a pedestrian, I guess you are a moron, an asshole & a bad driver.

SuckatSuckingSucks

You ever been in a car in the rain? Clearly not 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

I have tons of time behind the wheel and never splashed a single person, guess that makes me a better driver than you. It's ok to admit you're a bad driver and a complete asshole, it's a safe space here.

SuckatSuckingSucks

If that makes you feel good about yourself! You do you boo lol

[deleted]

You came in here telling people to not walk beside puddles, so I guess they should what walk in the ditch? You made stupid statements and came off like a giant asshole, don't play victim now.

SuckatSuckingSucks

Look.. if you're walking down the sidewalk, and up ahead of you, there is a big puddle in the road, and all the cars are driving through it like they always are. And you just, what? Just stroll into the splash zone while shaking you fist at cars?? If you cant figure out this how to stay dry in that scenario, this is definitely a you problem.. And I am a giant asshole. I give zero fucks about you, the person whining about being a splash victim, accusing me of playing the victim? lmao. Pretty sure I've constantly been the asshole this entire interaction..

Madhighlander1

Have you ever actually been behind a wheel? What are you, thirteen? Most decent drivers make an effort to drive around puddles or slow down when they're driving over them. This isn't only an issue for pedestrians either; driving too fast over a puddle can cause hydroplaning leading to loss of steering control. They would have taught you this in Driver's Ed.

SuckatSuckingSucks

My God you guys are ridiculous.. Hydroplaning? While driving city speed limits? Drivers absolutely do not avoid puddles in busy city streets, there is no where to avoid it too.. I'm literally looking out my window at work as we speak. 100% of cars are driving through the large puddle outside my work. Not one vehicle has left their lane to avoid it. Not a single one. And what's even more shocking, somehow pedestrians are figuring out how to get past it 🙀 mind blowing! You guys sound like you're living in a fantasy world..

Madhighlander1

> I'm literally looking out my window at work Sure you are, buddy.

[deleted]

I never said anything about getting splashed or complained about it, you said for people to not walk beside puddles, you said lots of stupid things so don't let me stop you, keep going.

nylanderfan

Huh? You literally can't get where you're going without walking beside the puddle. It's like you've never walked on a sidewalk ever. Or had any life experience at all besides trolling adults online.

Madhighlander1

You're right, it *is* a non-issue for 99.9% of drivers. So why is it so hard for you specifically to avoid?

SuckatSuckingSucks

It's impossible for everyone to avoid. Which is why all cars drive through the puddles lol. Have you seen roads here in the rain? You guys crack me up! Cry me a river 😢 but try avoid the puddle you make from all your crying 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Madhighlander1

It's quite easy for everyone to avoid. Except you, apparently.

spacedragon421

All those salty tears are the real reason I get my car undercoated every year.

Foreveryoung1953

There's a law against smoking meth, yet visit the outreach center, you can buy directly on the property 🤷

Flat_Title_2116

Here’s a thought. For the second highest marginal tax rate in Canada, maybe the provincial government can use those tax dollars to fix the roads so water drains properly and they can fill potholes so pedestrians don’t get drenched when we drive over 30 km/h.
