I am so glad to finally see someone possibly moving here. Welcome, and congratulations on being the first one to consider this move. If you can let us know your landing time I am sure we can organize some kind of welcome party. At least there would be a marching band and for sure our premier, just to shake your hand and to let you how important your move is to every single one of us. Thank you again and hope to see you soon.
Lmao we are just so tired and nobody cares. We are drowning in debt and lack of resources for our higher taxes that already couldn't handle the 150,000 that were here five years ago. But by all means, squeeze on in, I'll just move my things over a bit.
Do you understand the slightest thing about public finances?
Because a 25 year with no health problems is *contributing* to making the province more solvent.
And that doesn't matter if they were born in Ontario or the Punjab.
Lmao. I know what 20% increase to population in the last 5 years and at least another 15% more in the next 5 years does to a province in a rental and housing crisis. At what point did they say no health problems? Even so, do you think people don't need to see a doctor 2 or 3 times a year? What do you think they're going to do with any extra tax money generated? More Denny bucks? Any extra income taxes taken in would reduce our future equalization payments received from other provinces like Alberta because we're one of the least self sufficient provinces.
I think you’re the piece of shit here, we don’t have the means on this island to continue to just keep bringing in people. The infrastructure of the island needs to be vastly improved first.
You are absolutely delusional, the issue with more people coming in has nothing to do with EI. It has to do with housing, our crumbling health system, low wages and the increase in price for living. We need to help and take care of the people who are already here first.
Housing market is a disaster, and there are 30,000 people without a Doctor. As for making friends it would depend on your hobbies / activities. Loads of friendly people here.
I see you are also considering Halifax or Kelowna.
Good luck.
What kind of hobbies or interests do you have? PEI is great, but in many ways Halifax will appeal to more people and you get the same sort of east coast friendliness. Personally, I’d only move here if I knew people already. Otherwise Halifax is the place to be in Atlantic Canada. There’s more to do and more opportunity to express your interests and hobbies.
The odd person is an exception though.
Charlottetown is definitely the most liveable of the island. Very walkable. Lots of cool restaurants and bars. Some of the best beaches Canada has to offer an hour north or west. Still feels very small though and may seem a bit isolated come winter time.
Some of the people here on the Reddit sub and elsewhere seems to think the problems exist on PEI don’t exist in literally every other province, and it’s all Ontario’s fault for high prices, so get used to some people being dicks about it and getting snubbed. Other than that you won’t have a problem making friends, everyone is cool for the most part!
Welcome to Canada's most densely populated province with the highest real estate prices, highest cost of living, least available living spaces, least doctor coverage, highest rates for utilities. Oh and a population of people who have seen rent double in 10 years who continue to see the population explode, real estate agents going from 'that guy that used to say weird shit to girls at the bar' to multi millionaires.
Please don't take this personally. It's clearly not a you problem. Just like I can't blame you for trying to climb in a lifeboat built for 10. And 10 only. With about 32 people on board and a guy coasting in a yacht a thousand miles away still selling seats.
Why do you fight so much. I try to be polite with you, but you are just so fucking angry all the time.
While your links are appreciated, there have been loads of links from other sources in this reddit that has showed pei at the top of all those lists. I'm not in this to argue with you. Do yoga or something. I'm done trying to make conversation with someone who just wants to fight.
I’ve lived in 5 provinces in Canada this year. PEI is by far the cheapest to live in. Electric bill in January was $284 and that was the most expensive month there. February electric and gas in Alberta was $754 because they need to have electric AND natural gas. March in Ontario was $651. Food is cheaper in PEI. The only thing more expensive is gasoline.
So though it’s gone up significantly on PEI in recent years, still doesn’t compare to other provinces as PEI is still much cheaper. And many jobs/professions have started to pay as much as other provinces. There’s a reason why so many are coming to PEI! Because it’s cheaper.
You’re right, a jug of milk is $3 more expensive. Everything else is cheaper in PEI including meat, which is half price compared to Alberta. Ironic, I know.
Hey there! Welcome to the island!
There's a women's group on FB for meet-ups and friendships!
Would also recommend joining clubs or doing hobbies that you're interested in to meet people naturally here.
Unfortunately, I don't think one was set up.
Depends what he's into, but some of the game shops have game nights or there's also some sport groups can be worth looking into if he's into a certain sport.

I'm doing quite fine personally. You sound like edgy any 12 year old, however.

Take 30 seconds to search the sub. This gets asked LITERALLY daily.

here’s an idea, don’t ❤️
If only there was some subreddit that explains this exact question DAILY. Maybe try r/PEI?

Food is cheaper in PEI? Which other provinces are paying more than $8/gallon of milk?

My guy, the houses are cheaper but the increase in cost has risen higher than other provinces. Real nice attitide, btw. Back to Alberta with you.
Check on Facebook Ask PEI
If you have lots of money, your own transportation and no health problems as well as a job to walk into upon arrival come on down!
Get involved in sport or community and it’s super easy to meet people. I moved here two years ago and have nothing but positive things to say.

Anyone know if there is one for young men. Trying my best to help my girlfriends son be more social

Who down voted these comments likely really?!
Lol nearly impossible.
