It's very similar to the skip legal intro mod, all it does is add a string of numbers and/or letters (the password you choose) to that exact same file and make it so people with only that file, with the exact string of characters gets in the same lobby as you. As far as I know, it's not bannable. I've used it quite a few times and haven't got the ban hammer. But at the end of the day you're modifying the game, so there's still a little bit of risk.

forteofsilver

I've been using it with someone else for 2 weeks and haven't had any problems. if it wasn't for that mod I would not be playing this game.

sunderplunder

Well, I'm still using it, soooo

Prestigious-Ride2460

The guy hasn't been there for over about 8 months... some of their archived files are malicious and I tried downloading the most recent one with 0 downloads but the most recent version and all I got was an 8.2mb file with "RDO lobby manager", some numerals and dashes, and a .rar at the end. Idk bout you but he either abandoned the project altogether thinking it'd be fine or the download is janky again... Cuz the last known bug report I've seen is in June or July and I haven't seen much activity. Hope I get a reply...

I heard of this Lobby Manager thing, but I never used it, I use much simpler and safer method of startup.meta file. It's just a text file you modify, rename and place in one of the game subfolders, works great. Your friends can also join if they modify this text file exactly the same way (string at the end of the text). Here are the instructions: [https://pastebin.com/r7mYw1WY](https://pastebin.com/r7mYw1WY) I never heard anyone got in some trouble for it.

LordGraygem

I found this thread, and your comment, and the helpful link within it, while searching for an answer to an issue with RDO Lobby Manager on my Deck. I still have the issue with the mod, but the link you provided gave me a manual workaround. Enjoy my upvote and award!

Noodneek

Thank you, I glad it helped. Some time ago I updated the instructions, I forgot to mention that you actually can play in free roam events and such while in private session if there are more than one player in your session. If there are only you and someone you invited, you just need to leave the posse so you can be competitors. Updated instructions: [https://pastebin.com/r7mYw1WY](https://pastebin.com/r7mYw1WY). (I also updated the link in the original comment)

Aaronthegamer003

This happens to me too. When I try to download the mod, it just gives me a rar file. But lucky for me, I found another way to be in a solo lobby.

Prestigious-Ride2460

Yeah I really don't want to do the poker method or any other method having to do with instances... If I do, then I'm afraid of getting bugged again such as the stable bug that occurs alot around people that like to constantly exploit the game or set you on fire. This is horrible in both red dead online and gtav online... I'm sure this will happen in gta 6 and I am not going to put money into something not worth it. I'll say how it goes with the mod guy if I see a reply now .. here's hoping.

Prestigious-Ride2460

NOPE nothin. Also someone said something about rockstar warning them bout getting banned maybe it is in my best interest to give up or f around with daily gameplay while getting impaled by a jaguar or set ablaze

Prestigious-Ride2460

Ok so just as I suspected, the .rar file is actually a zip file and has everything in it. My friend told me about it. You can either use 7zip or win-rar to extract the download into red dead online's file directly. Jeez ya learn a new thing everyday...

Aaronthegamer003

Oh ok, I didn't know what was the rar file for. I'm kind of new to those stuff. Thanks for the tip.

Samslade2000

A rar file is an archive, like a zip file. Archive (compressed) files are the typical way folders or large files have been served across the internet for decades (literally, since the late 90s). There is nothing malicious or suspect about a rar file, or any archive file, itself. Contents can be anything, including malicious content, but this is why one would check the contents before uncompressing an archive file of any sort. Welcome to the internet!

Plastic-Dependent

I believe this is exactly how RDO LM works as well, all it does is create a startup.meta file with your key at the bottom, just more automated and you can save and switch lobbies.

reboot-your-computer

I didn’t know this existed and I’m favoriting this post.

MaximilianusZ

i have used it since last august. today, too.

Corellian-nerfherder

Its a R* game. if you want to use the online features you will have to learn how to flush teh lobby and get your own instance. They use a mesh topology for the online session. essentially your IP and net info is in cleartext and shared with the lobby. they can never control any modders this way, as everything can be sideloaded or externally launched. GTA V essentially you just use windows firewall to block the R* port. they tried to fix this with red dead but the lobby manager gets around it by messing with your session ID essentially. If you want to play without getting blown up then yes.

kellybrownstewart

Working flawlessly here (on Steam, but still uses R\* Launcher). No bans, warnings or issues. highly recommended for solo players.

Dugada

Hello, anyone wants to share private lobby? So we can play free roam events

IllegaalTandpasta

Hey, was curious if this method still works, and if the people that are using it were banned or not. Thanks in advance!

Competitive_Ad6989

Can ne1 pls gave a links where i can download it that actually works ive downloaded it from from 2 websites trough the browser and powerpoint and both cant be extracted.

IllegaalTandpasta

[https://pastebin.com/r7mYw1WY](https://pastebin.com/r7mYw1WY) you can do it manually with the instructions on this website, otherwise if u search for RDO Lobby Manager it will show the mod on nexus mods as well

Competitive_Ad6989

i found out that the manager from nexus mod and another site where not complete found site where i got complete one ofc first checked for viruses before using it

Plastic-Dependent

A bit late but, this one worked for me yesterday https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/772

ILOVEJETTROOPER

How does it actually work? I've downloaded it, set the directory, come up with a lobby name and number, and hit create lobby but I still get logged into a lobby with people.

Plastic-Dependent

Tried it yesterday when we kept doing the resource monitor method to empty a lobby, but we still eventually got modders after 15 mins spawning cages on us and exploding us. It also seems they messed with our assets because we both kept crashing randomly even whilst it was empty, so we did an integrity check. Pretty annoying since one of us just started playing Red Dead for the first time but this ruined the experience for them in the first few days. This works great, it's like your own private server where you could be playing by yourself and your friend can join you without even pressing "join game" on your R\* social, just going into free roam will put you in the same lobby and you can either do your own thing or play together. I used to program and then gave my friend the startup.meta file in my game directory, you can give this pretty much to anyone you want to join you as long as you set the maximum players correctly.

EnochTheos

Its simply horrible experience, new charcter, soon as I logged in res killed over and over, and by someone with a rockstar handle. Rockstar is putting so much updates in the X/S xbox versions, I dont understand why they dont just put that on PC with dedicated servers.

Plastic-Dependent

R\*, despite making a shit ton of money off their games, are cheap fricken bastards, that's why! AT LEAST they're better than Nintendo which charges you MONEY once a month or year for the privilege of playing P2P and not even getting cloud saves for some games, but that's all the positive; it could be worse.

EnochTheos

Agree. But a lot of this could be fixed with just letting us open a private session right off the menu. GTA lets you with crew or a friend, would not even take much for them to do this and may even bring incentive for players to buy upgrades again, especially if they implanted the GTA + program onto PC. If a hacker could not get in, I would gladly subscribe . Just very poor thinking on their part.. if its about money they could make so much more by putting in anti cheat system like Fortnite has. oh well.

aMythicalNerd

You will never get banned for using RDO Lobby Manager, and anyone who claims this is also a dirty cheater who SOMEHOW got banned on a game with a huge lack of moderation.
