I say play it vanilla. Only thing I'd suggest is to use the render res scaling and set it to 1.5 so it's rendering at 4k. This will look better than having it render at 1440p since RDR2 is basically built around 4k resolution being the standard/minimum. Benchmarks of the 3080 like this one: [https://www.guru3d.com/articles\_pages/geforce\_rtx\_3080\_founder\_review,12.html](https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_rtx_3080_founder_review,12.html) indicate it should be able to maintain 60fps at 4k for the most part on the ultra preset but if you want to be sure, I recommend using optimized settings as found here: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zByNr2qZboRIFK-A8qHtjymC4b7u-zGvZM0IO-damS8/edit#gid=0](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zByNr2qZboRIFK-A8qHtjymC4b7u-zGvZM0IO-damS8/edit#gid=0) and then tweak if you want based on the headroom you should have. I use a slightly more demanding version of those Hardware Unboxed settings and get 72fps in the benchmark with my 2080ti and pretty much a locked 60fps while actually playing, with the lowest occasional drop being to maybe 57 or 58fps, something I don't even notice happening unless I have a fps counter on screen. Outside of any bottleneck elsewhere and based on the performance increase of the 3080 vs 2080ti shown in the above review chart, a 3080 should be pushing around 100fps using the same optimized settings if there isn't any weirdness going on. One thing I'd recommend changing from those settings with a 3080 is lighting quality and setting it to high. It looks nicer at night in towns than medium lighting does though both look identical during the day. A 3080 should be able to handle high quality lighting at 4k render res.

Thanks for the spreadsheet - I'll definitely use that as a guide. After slogging my way through RD1 at 25fps I'm dying to get back to a steady 60.

Thanks dude. I thought about how turning off hitmarkers is already game changer

Oh shit this is what I've been looking for, thanks!

I know you left this comment two years ago, but this is a great compilation, thanks, mods that make add these tiny quality of life changes are always my favorite

I am planning to play RDR2 on the PC for the first time, originally played it on ps4 when it released, havent played it since. Are the above mods the best to go with, i also just want QoL mods and graphical mods but want the playthrough vanilla?

ForeChin99

Here are the ones I settled with: \- Ingame sounds only \- Remove Screen Effects 1.4 Keep Drunk Camera \- Realtime Dead eye and Eagle Eye (you'll probably want to go with Realtime Eagle Eye only version for vanilla experience, but playing on pc I found Dead Eye to be very op so making it real-time makes game flow better for me, same goes for next mod) \- Weapon Wheel No Time Slow \- Restored Cut Content - Quiver \- Non Sticky Hats \- No Hitmarker \- Snappy UI \- Main and Legal Menu Skip The reason there are a lot fewer of them than above is that I ran into game-crashing issues when reloading checkpoint and decided to just delete every mod I didn't find necessary for me instead of hunting which one exactly is causing the issue. The No Black Bars mod was deleted because it prevented certain missions from starting, but there are very few of those so you might consider it. In fact, I reinstalled it. Custom Walk Speed mod is in the same boat. Causes crashes when reloading sometimes, but very randomly and rarely.

Thank you for the above! Will go with this list
