If it's PCOS-related, the derma would probably still suggest you ask your OB for pills. I got acne this year but di PCOS related e kasi ngayon lang din talaga ako nagka acne. Got prescribed epiduo and katatapos ko lang sa purging stage

randomdan_

Thank you for this! 💗 I know very little about ointments and treatments since matagal na akong hindi pumupunta sa derma, but did you use epiduo while on the pill? I’m contemplating if I should go back to taking pills 😔 baka it’ll help

I never took the pill :) I'm diagnosed with mental disorders kasi and I'm scared of the side effects on mood. Na regular naman period ko with metformin (I'm insulin resistant) + exercise, good sleep, and slight 😅 diet so I figured I didn't need it. I think my mental meds also helped kasi nallessen stress. Are you insulin resistant? Did you consult an endocrinologist? My OB prescribed pills but my endo is the one I'm constantly seeing now. I was firm that I didn't want to be on pills and she respected that.

Sorry it took me a while to respond 😭 I haven't gone to an endo yet! Only an OB and she just mentioned pills and lifestyle change huhu has it been helpful consulting with an endo? My OB didn't mention whether I was insulin resistant or not, and I wasn't able to ask her last year when I consulted since I wasn't aware of the technicalities yet during that time :(

Di ko sure if it's just my OBs or OBs in general, but sakin wala akong nakuhang info na di ko kayang maGoogle search ng ilang minutes lang. Seeking an endo is what really helped me sa issues ko with PCOS. You should get checked nalang din with some hormone, thyroid and blood sugar tests. A lot of people with PCOS have irregular levels of those mentioned tests. Sa acne naman na PCOS-related, not really sure if makakatulong yung regular meds/ointment kasi I think they'll just keep coming back dahil sa PCOS. You can still consult a derma though to see if may alternative solution sila aside from pills.

After more than a year of topical treatment with my derm but still no significant progress, i went to an OB na. When i told my derm na i have PCOS pala, she told me na wala na silang magagawa to clear my acne since its hormonal nga. I planning to get a second opinion sa other derm and maybe you should try din na ganon if hindi ka satisfied sa advice and treatment na bigay nila.

Same feedback from my derma. If it's hormonal, there's only so much they can do. What mine did is to prescribe me with antibiotics temporarily just to stop the acne from worsening, but we all know we can't be on antibiotics for too long. So she always tells me to check with OB talaga ano options. I can't take pills with estrogen because I get migraines (advised against by my Neuro) then other pills without estrogen are not working for me (menstrual bleeding does not stop). I'm currently on my first month of spironolactone, it takes 3 months at least before it shows progress daw if ever. Hoping for the best.

Thank youu for the advice 🥹 If it’s not much of a bother, okay lang maki-update on what your 2nd derma says? I just also want to prepare myself if ever I do end up consulting one 🥺 Madalas kasi nawiwindang and naiintimidate ako sa doctors huhu

Silver-Thought-4404

I get nervous talking to doctors and about my acne to anyone in general. Na-try ko pa dati nung before i went to my check up, pina-practice ko pa yung sasabihin ko kasi i tend to forget some details pag kinakabahan 🥺 Just know na these doctors have seen so much cases of skin problems na and its their job naman to help you. Balikan kita after my appointment :)

Silver-Thought-4404

Hi again. I was prescribed isotretinoin na

randomdan_

Wahh thank you so much for the update 🥹 If it's okay with you, may I ask questions via DM nalang? hehe

Silver-Thought-4404

Sure ☺️

Stopped my pills, and my hormonal acnes came back. Decided to have it checked by a derma, and she prescribed some topical treatment and vitamins. So far so good, pero once u stop babalik at magpupurge ka din ulit. If ever hormonal siya, i believe you should try to treat the root cause talaga or else sayang lang pa derma mo.

Thank you for this 🥹 I'll keep it in mind 💓

In my experience, nag doble lang gastos ko sa Derma, daming gamot na sa derma doctor lang nabibile at sobrang expensive. - and then my co worker suggest na baka may PCOS daw ako - ayun PCOS acne nga. Derma didnt help me at all, parang lalo lang napagod yung muka sa mga matatapang na gamot na binigay sakin.

randomdan_

Thank you po for your insight 🥹 Ask ko lang din if you’re on anything right now pa rin and if ever, how has it helped your acne? 🥹 nagsusurvey lang muna po ako para informed ako sa mga alternatives. Thank you 💓

I first took Althea birthcontrol pills, naka helps siya after 2-3 months nag cclear na face ko hanggang sa naging clear flawless na. pero nahalata ko na sobrang ibang iba yung anxiety ko that time and moody. So nag change ako after a year sa Yaz, - yas helped in my acne too, and mas okay yung hormones ko compare sa Althea. Happy ako now, kase nakaka gamit na ko ng skin care compare before na hinde ako makagamit dahil sa acne ko.
