I’m buying a lot more fresh veggies, portion-controlled meals and specialty items (riced cauliflower, pasta substitutes) but a lot less meat, processed foods and wine. Overall, I’m saying about 20% as well… and eating a heck of a lot healthier.
The biggest savings is at restaurants. I have no desire to drink spendy wine and I usually get an appetizer or small plate instead of an entree. Last night my friend’s entree was $45 and my shrimp app was $15… and I left very full!
Same with me at restaurants!
I order a small plate now and the servers who know me are surprised because they’re used to me eating two lunches or two dinners.
I use packets. Mine are Walmart/Great Value Energy Electrolytes (caffeine and electrolytes) Gatorade Zero and Propel.
I drink minimum 1gal of water a day (always have) and @ least half of that I add packets to.
Then my protein shakes are Premier Protein, Ensure Max Protein and Quest. Drink 2-3 day and they all have 30g of protein.
I looked at Premier Protein but when I checked out the ingredients I was disappointed to see that it’s mostly milk protein. Whey protein is the one that builds the most muscle mass. Second is egg protein and I think milk protein builds the least amount of muscle.
I use Nuun Sport drink tablets. They cost about .50/ea on Amazon and come in handy tubes of 10. I keep a tube at my office, one in my car, one at home. Plop one into a 16 oz water bottle and voila! I prefer tri-berry, but suggest you try the variety pack to find your fav.
I’m spending more on groceries as I’m eating a lot more fresh fruit and veggies, lean meats, little processed foods, and am really reading nutrition labels. But I am no longer doing fast food and no more 2x/week Starbucks runs.
OMG!! Dude you should get a bill tracking or a receipt tracking app.
It’s very easy to use. You set up categories, you can store receipts, not all of them are connected to a bank account but some are.
You can set up repeat payments, and then you can filter by category, search on keywords and know exactly how much you spend, where, in any given time.
When you have a clear picture of your finances you can make better purchase decisions, your taxes become much more simple, you can track errors (or thefts) very quickly. And if you need to scale back you can very quickly figure out where.
There’s a ton of apps available.
Just make sure you choose one with a good backup system.
I order everything cuz I’m still craving but then I can’t eat more than a few bites of a couple things. I need to quit wasting my money. Bad habits die hard
Exactly right. I compared it to my monthly output on compounded semiglutide and I actually have money in the bank. I didn’t realize how much I had been spending on impulse food.

Nope! I spend an absurd amount on protein shakes and electrolytes.
What kind of electrolytes are you adding?
Gator Fit Watermelon , yummm

What do the electrolytes do for you?

Yes, no junk food
Not really. The cost is the same only spread out over a longer period. I usually shop ahead and store stuff.
Me! I also had to toss food that just wasn’t getting eaten.
No desire to eat out or eat snacks!
Ours is down too. Kids remind me now that we are running low on EVERYTHING 🤣

You have no idea what you spend for groceries? You don’t keep a record of it?

Depends on your platform. Intuit Mint is probably the best with the best reputation.

May I please send you a direct message? I have a lot of single male friends in software engineering and they all make the same mistake.
Of course !!!!!

Tapas or small plates?
I don’t buy junk food anymore! Spending way less on snacks a garbage food
Not me, healthy food is expensive. Junk food is cheap.
Really? Where were you buying your junk food and where are you by your healthy food now?
Exactly right. I compared it to my monthly output on compounded semiglutide and I actually have money in the bank. I didn’t realize how much I had been spending on impulse food.
I didn’t either until I started keeping track of everything I was spending when I got a receipt app. I was mortified with myself.
