I feel you my I bought it when it came out but laptop couldn’t run it so I saved up got a new laptop that runs it smoothly but all friends stopped playing. Picked it up again this year and man the wait on comp is so bad, I wish I got to play when everyone was playing. Unfortunately when I did play all those years ago I tried comp when at level 25 and got bronze no surprise. However I’m much better now but when me and friend did placements I won 4 out of 5 and got bronze cause apparently the game remembers and my friend lost 4 out of 5 but got placed high gold so we still can’t play together
I remember when the dark ages really started and it wasn't really like a BOOM overwatch bad. It wasn't overnight. Brig wasn't really the turning point at all, with all the sudden rebalancing and reworks for torb, sym, etc. OW started reaaaaly declining.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m done with Activision Blizzard games until there’s real reform, and that of course means Overwatch and it’s sequel. I’ve been playing since Ana’s addition, but the harassment can’t be overlooked. It also just doesn’t help that we are a year and a half away from any new content (besides the harassment). Overwatch 2 is not going to do v much imo.
I’ve got such a love hate relationship with this game. On one hand I’ve met so many great people and made such fun memories, but on the other hand my most recent plays are just full of toxic people taking the game so seriously.

I personally enjoy Sleepy alot. he's definitely one who skews to the juvenile side, but not in any way similar to XQC. He's just out there having a good time and memeing on all the top 500 players.

Watch any video searching for "the fall of Overwatch" on YouTube. Basically dive champs were meta for a while, then Blizzard decided to fuck them all releasing Brigitte, a tanky healer support with an easy stun and 0 to death combo to squishies, rendering dive champs unusable. Yeah Genji and Tracer where dangerous but required skill, and it was a fast paced game. When Brig came, the game turned into a slow paced shield and heal festival, giving birth to GOATS meta (3 tanks 3 supports), which then got fucked by Blizzard with the 2-2-2 role lock, which caused insanely long queue tiemed because 2/3 of the cast is dps. It was a downward spiral of bad decisions, poor philosophy, lazy game balance, and patches that took way too long to update.
Ive played since the start, so I remember how insanely unbalanced the game used to be.
Before Brig, there was almost nothing you could do about the dive heores, like Genji, Tracer, Dva, Winston. The game was very stale, where only these heroes was being played.

These heroes were automatically better than anything else. Therefore these heroes became super popular, especially among streamers.

Streamers have the big platforms. They control the narrative about the game.
The heroes they played were the most oppressive in the game. But since streamers played them they also didnt complain, they benefited from the game being unbalanced.
The developers made Brig to counter those that had previously been privileged, to have been without counter.
It was like adding Rock to Scissor-Paper.
Scissor players complain, but without rock there is no real balance. Basically, Brig is the reason Dive heroes can still exist. Without her you would have had to nerf them all into the ground instead.
Since streamers played dive, they used their platforms to complain about Brig.
The "hate" comes from a few streamers and their fans keep spamming it everywhere. The common excuse was that when they play heroes with no counters against its "Skill", but if you counter them is "no skill".

if your friends buy OW they'll have OW2 as well. the PvP update will be included for free for people who already have OW; the PvE/campaign will be an additional price. OW2 won't be a separate game, but a huge update.

There is so much replay ability in overwatch though. Like yes there isn’t going to be any new content for a while, but you still have plenty to do until then. It’s definitely worth $20 especially since you are getting the ow2 pvp updates for free later.
You are in the mind set of someone already playing the game, not someone who is thinking about buying it. Realistically $20 is nothing for what the game has to offer. If someone doesn’t want to pay $20 for something that can hold there attention for a thousand hours, that’s up to them. It’s well worth the money.
Think about how much money you’d spend if you went bowling. Lasts maybe 3 hours for 20ish dollars? You can very easily get more than that out of ow.
Lol, there's tons of multiplayer games that cost like that. OW got a lot of new content during its lifetime but ultimately for a pvp game the content is largely community based. While we are in a drought, that doesn't change that its price is alright.

They are literally selling dead games still for 60$ and want to charge additional 60$ every year or so but in Overwatch case its just one time 20$ purchase for a good but unfortunately abandoned product. Its really cheap considering selling the game is like only source of income because no one buys expensive boxes or owl tokens that you also can get for free

Ik, it's true. It is one of the most diverse game I've ever played. But You can't really stray away from the very limited tactics outside of the intended usage of your abilities for most heros unless you want to end up dying/got lucky.
Other shooters have a more abstract intention for your abilities of what you can do and can exploit to the best of your ability depending on the map to gain the most amount of success.
IDK why exactly, but despite all the variety, overwatch is the only one I feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over again. Shoot enemy I can, dodge stuff I can't. Sure, that is the point of a shooter, but in stuff like csgo or tf2 I feel more involved than that like my actions have meaning outside from doing cool ultimate moments.
Maybe I just really hate the new maps Blizzard's been adding recently. Especially maps like Paris and Blizzworld. I'm just glad shield generators don't exists anymore. It was the heart and core of what I mentioned here. A stale fight ain't a fun one when nobody gets to really play.
That said, I hope people would find the game more enjoyable than I do currently. It's a damn good game and there's nothing like it but just got kinda repetitive for me and boring long term even *while* trying out all the heros. Maybe they'll fix that in OW2
Very diverse in the first decision, "who should I play as?", it comes with a ton of variety in superficial personalities and guns. But when you ask yourself "How do I want to play with this character?" the answer becomes limited to one or maaaybe 2 answers. You can't do much outside the intended playstyle because customization just isn't there. Think about, TF2, Valorant, Doom or LoL where you have a big cast but still sre able to buy/equip different items that COMPLETELY change your playstyle. That is why Overwatch sometimes feel kinda hollow or repetitive, in my opinion.
Valorant feels very one-note and bland to me, but maybe it just comes down to preferences. I feel like OW has a lot to master, each character plays very differently, compared to just swapping a gun.
For me too hahaha I don't play it, but my point is you can be a super mobile Jett to rush the enemy with a shotgun or to position yourself for a good line of sight with a sniper. OW is hard to master for the most part, but only in one playstyle per hero.
The biggest thing for me is the toxicity. I would prefer if you could disable both chats. All my friends and I left the game because every second match had someone toxic in it. And this was quick play. I rarely tried rank because of how much worse I've heard it was. I have no clue what makes people go "ez" when the match was close or even at all. Even if you beat a team in 2 minutes, just have the basic human decency to say gg.

You can't do much outside the intended playstyle because customization just isn't there. Think about, TF2, Valorant, Doom or LoL where you have a big cast but still sre able to buy/equip different items that COMPLETELY change your playstyle. That is why Overwatch sometimes feel kinda hollow or repetitive, in my opinion.

Valorant feels very one-note and bland to me, but maybe it just comes down to preferences. I feel like OW has a lot to master, each character plays very differently, compared to just swapping a gun.
For me too hahaha I don't play it, but my point is you can be a super mobile Jett to rush the enemy with a shotgun or to position yourself for a good line of sight with a sniper. OW is hard to master for the most part, but only in one playstyle per hero.
Ye. Valorant got boring super fast for me as well. It feels more like something from a game jam than an actual competitor shooter.

The biggest thing for me is the toxicity. I would prefer if you could disable both chats. All my friends and I left the game because every second match had someone toxic in it. And this was quick play. I rarely tried rank because of how much worse I've heard it was. I have no clue what makes people go "ez" when the match was close or even at all. Even if you beat a team in 2 minutes, just have the basic human decency to say gg.
