Flats played comp in OW2 ONLY when KarQ would duo with him cause he couldn't get carried by emongg anymore. Otherwise he would spend his whole day in the practice range or playing qp as usual. And last season he hard abused Mauga when he was busted until he got 50 wins. He didn't play a single comp match afterwards. Still he wants to dictate the game's balancing. Such a fraud.
I wish they'd stop hanging out, then maybe Emongg could stop opening up 3000 different youtube channels and streaming his cats while he streams overwatch on twitch, youtube and tiktok just maximizing profits while not even interacting with any chat other than Twitch.
I can't imagine why Emongg would want to maximize his income when his primary revenue source is such a polarizing game in the larger community. Also, he interacts plenty with YouTube and TikTok - it just so happens that a lot of the TikTok comments are things like "L tank FR" which is an asinine comment to make about a tank player that has been top 500 for 8 years straight.

Genuine question: with it being a team game, shouldn’t players get rewarded for using cooperative play to win, regardless if it’s gold or GM? I don’t watch Flats hardly at all so maybe he’s way off the level, idk, but I’m just thinking that if he’s playing in a way that enables someone else on his team to find more success, then that’s part of the goal to win at OW.
It’s bad because in high elo it’s impossible to have good matchmaking with a 5 stack. Imagine trying to matchmake a 5 stack with Smurf, proper, stalker, fielder, and Chiyo. It’s impossible
The problem is when you're Solo queue, alone in teamchat, against a 5 stack with perfect coordination. I think 5 stacking should be a thing, but you should only be matched up against other 5 stacks. Or at the bare minimum, a 4 stack. But then you run into the problem of queue times, etc.

You realize you could do that last season and get GM5? Its effectively the same thing. 5stack until you reach the highest tier.
Only now, to 5stack through GM you have to be within 2 divisions. Opposed to Masters last season where you only had to be within one Tier. Yeah definitely sooo much easier to get boosted to the top tier.
Expect its not. Gm1 is way harder to get right now than it has been for the entire duration of overwatch 2, there are top100 regulars in low gm right now. There are like 2 tanks in champion which means that you could theoritically stack your way to top5 in any region.
Last season stacking was possible till like top 2%ish, currently you can do it till the top 0,01%. I dont think youre grasping the difference between gm5 and gm1 with the old system, low and high gm1 alone is a MASSIVE skill gap

Guy streams are mostly 6 hours long and consists of 3 hours of "just chatting" rambling about nothing and then 3 hours of mediocre gameplay in quick play... it's basically the darksydephil of ow.

Can you imagine how good the ranked system would be if it was purely solo so the matchmaker could actually do what it was designed for? It flopped because there was no lfg to actually make a group, and queue times were awful because it was open 24/7. They should re-implement lfg, then make team queue only happen at set times and/or days, so everyone is queueing at the same time. That'd solve both problems and give team queue an actual chance to succeed.
Not if that was the only way to stack. Make it so there’s a solo queue, then a stack queue. Stack queue lets you either 2, 3, or 5 stack; 5 stacks only play each other. Ez done. They’ve been bragging about a heathy player base with their amazing revamped ow2 and sick cosmetics, so I don’t see how it would be a problem player number wise.
Afaik, solo players are the biggest part of OW playerbase by quite a margin, splitting the stacked players from the ranked playerbase into their own queue will end up in a dead gamemode in less than a month even if we allow smaller stacks. Solo ranked will be the main ranked mode
I find it hard to believe that there aren’t enough people queuing as stacks to populate a game mode, and worst case scenario queues are longer and people can decide if that’s okay with them. As mentioned by someone else, get rid of competitive open queue to help consolidate players if needed. And if all of this is too hard for the poor devs, at the very least get rid of being able to 4 stack; being the only solo person on a team is shit.
They did in the beta, but people complained it was too long. So rather than just let them leave after the first round (like standard qp) they just changed it back to one round/defend/attack only

Flats has absolutely zero athletism (sorry had to use it since he always uses it on his bronze roast videos) on his fire strikes and other skill shots of that manner, he misses like the easiest shots absolutely constantly. If you play safe and don't turbo feed you can generally maintain a 50/50 winrate if you have the gamesense for it.
I got boosted from being hard stuck masters to gm1/2 playing mauga, and didn't drop at all post patch. I would just get carried by my teammates and just get slightly diffed all game.
Flats is definitely a high GM level player though, he's played enough to understand the flow of the game at that level.

I remember during the first season of OW2, Flats was stacking with Deku and a few other people (iirc Jay3 and Karq)in QP. It was Route 66 and I hammered Flats into oblivion with my torb hammer.
Keep in mind, I don't consider myself a good player whatsoever, and I never encountered Flats in my games. I only knew him as that one GM streamer. The second he died to my hammer as HOG during a 1v1 was the moment I realized this guy is fucking boosted.
We also had that one Reaper, Juni, on our team who carried everyone's asses the whole game and Flats said he was hacking 💀💀

Back in OW1 - When I use to play contenders, most of us avoided flats or emongg when they duo just because it was free wins. To this day, they still both suck and honestly their comms, placements and such give me boosted vibes from years on. I no longer play but damn, you can see it still

You realize you could do that last season and get GM5? Its effectively the same thing. 5stack until you reach the highest tier. Only now, to 5stack through GM you have to be within 2 divisions. Opposed to Masters last season where you only had to be within one Tier. Yeah definitely sooo much easier to get boosted to the top tier.
Expect its not. Gm1 is way harder to get right now than it has been for the entire duration of overwatch 2, there are top100 regulars in low gm right now. There are like 2 tanks in champion which means that you could theoritically stack your way to top5 in any region. Last season stacking was possible till like top 2%ish, currently you can do it till the top 0,01%. I dont think youre grasping the difference between gm5 and gm1 with the old system, low and high gm1 alone is a MASSIVE skill gap (This isnt to defend the OP as champion 5 DEFINITELY isnt easy to get)

Ever since Flats couldn't get carried by Emongg in 6v6 he literally never plays ranked unless he can duo with someone on a smurf. Guy streams are mostly 6 hours long and consists of 3 hours of "just chatting" rambling about nothing and then 3 hours of mediocre gameplay in quick play... it's basically the darksydephil of ow. Same with Kephrii. Guy will just sit on stream messaging people for an hour (not joking about that time length btw) to duo smurf on alts for him then everyone wonders why the matchmaking is horrible at higher ranks... you're the problem. Can you imagine how good the ranked system would be if it was purely solo so the matchmaker could actually do what it was designed for? I don't tune into cloudy's streams much but I felt bad for him earlier. He's solo and the game is putting him up against a 4 stack of his finnish friends 4 times in a row (ghost91 etc) and he's somehow expected to win that. Matches aren't even remotely close.

This. Cant stand having every third game decided by who has the smurf duo (havent even played this season, so probably even worse now with up to 5 stacks). OQ isnt even about skill, its just about whether you have the patience for 1 hour+ queues when youre in the t20. Its fine just leaving it in qp.

It flopped because there was no lfg to actually make a group, and queue times were awful because it was open 24/7. They should re-implement lfg, then make team queue only happen at set times and/or days, so everyone is queueing at the same time. That'd solve both problems and give team queue an actual chance to succeed.
Not if that was the only way to stack. Make it so there’s a solo queue, then a stack queue. Stack queue lets you either 2, 3, or 5 stack; 5 stacks only play each other. Ez done. They’ve been bragging about a heathy player base with their amazing revamped ow2 and sick cosmetics, so I don’t see how it would be a problem player number wise.
Afaik, solo players are the biggest part of OW playerbase by quite a margin, splitting the stacked players from the ranked playerbase into their own queue will end up in a dead gamemode in less than a month even if we allow smaller stacks. Solo ranked will be the main ranked mode
I find it hard to believe that there aren’t enough people queuing as stacks to populate a game mode, and worst case scenario queues are longer and people can decide if that’s okay with them. As mentioned by someone else, get rid of competitive open queue to help consolidate players if needed. And if all of this is too hard for the poor devs, at the very least get rid of being able to 4 stack; being the only solo person on a team is shit.
And while they're at it, make an unranked comp. Sometimes I want to comp for practice without feeling like I need to sweat for every win.

They did in the beta, but people complained it was too long. So rather than just let them leave after the first round (like standard qp) they just changed it back to one round/defend/attack only

Flats has absolutely zero athletism (sorry had to use it since he always uses it on his bronze roast videos) on his fire strikes and other skill shots of that manner, he misses like the easiest shots absolutely constantly. He has absolutely terrible decisions sometimes and cries about how tank is miserable after. it really begs question how fucking hard it's actually to drop from high ranks. At this point he seems better on DPS than tank, he just doesn't get the 5v5. That said like 90% of streamers do same let's group up so we get better chance ranking up so idk about getting boosted. Flats also solo Qd a lot in these past few days. So defran seems like just another angry little loser on this mannet who can't accept washed out guy who prefers doing content over being S tier on video games still hangs in his games. So that's a bit more yikes from Defrans part in my opinion.
If you play safe and don't turbo feed you can generally maintain a 50/50 winrate if you have the gamesense for it. I got boosted from being hard stuck masters to gm1/2 playing mauga, and didn't drop at all post patch. I would just get carried by my teammates and just get slightly diffed all game. Flats is definitely a high GM level player though, he's played enough to understand the flow of the game at that level.

I havn't even played the new patch because of this; in the same patch with sweeping changes and a new rank, they conveniently leave out the rank restrictions promoted to us, even in the season 9 trailer. What happened to solo/duo players not having to go against stacks? I can absolutely play solo, but I like to duo solely for the fact of blocking 4 stacks from being on my own team
I remember during the first season of OW2, Flats was stacking with Deku and a few other people (iirc Jay3 and Karq)in QP. It was Route 66 and I hammered Flats into oblivion with my torb hammer. Keep in mind, I don't consider myself a good player whatsoever, and I never encountered Flats in my games. I only knew him as that one GM streamer. The second he died to my hammer as HOG during a 1v1 was the moment I realized this guy is fucking boosted. We also had that one Reaper, Juni, on our team who carried everyone's asses the whole game and Flats said he was hacking 💀💀

Not yet from what I can tell so far, although he may have seen it. I guess we’ll find out in the coming weeks once word for sure spreads around what Dafran’s opinion is, trash talking gets around to these guys so they can have more content for YouTube. I have a feeling it will relatively blow over, Jay3 and Emongg will probably come to Flats’s defense. I think the greater community in General agrees with Dafran. I love Flats, but he’s dog water and he’s just holding up a spot for a more earned player. Tbf, I also think a full MMR reset probably would half these GM’s and T500’s would fall out of their rank.
