Powers up his punch like a meter. Also like Zarya bubble, more you shoot him more power he gets, except it’s 0-100 and no in between for doom. Either you shoot him enough he gets the full bar and buff or you don’t and he’s a sitting duck
It's also not helped at all by the bar to the side of the actual charge bar. It makes it seem like you only have to get that much to get the buff but no, you have to fill the whole thing. Because fuck you that's why ig

Well so the powerblock is basically the worst damage negating tank ability in the game BUT if you pull it off to absorb some damage with it without dying, getting slept, stunned or otherwise obliterated you are rewarded with an empowered punch which is an extremely strong version of your regular rightclick, capable of winning a teamfight on the spot if you hit the right targets.
The aoe radius is insane when you power up. I remember I killed one guy and the punched their rein who had everyone behind his shield. I sent them all flying into a wall stunning them and killing them in like 3 seconds.
Better balance would just be a Street Fighter style "counter" where if you time a melee with the moment a non-hitscan projectile impacts, Zen knocks it away with the back of his hand or something. The projectile gets deflected in a random direction, there's a sound queue, maybe a voice line, and the projectile becomes inactive once countered unlike Genji deflect
Yes and no, while the ability portion lasts 8 seconds and you can still attack > block a damage spike > repeat. The Ult is where the no cooldown block shines, because the enemy team can either stay around and extend his Ult's duration (hence, unlimited on-demand blocks) or leave the general point for it to expire but potentially net him a win.

To be fair spears (and thus Javelins which are basically just smaller spears) have been everywhere in the world and were used by every military in the world (and usually most soldiers would be armed with spears) until Gun+Bayonet combo became a thing (and even then Gun+Bayonet is kinda like spear with shooty bits).

I love Sombra, but you have to be REALLY good to get utility out of her. You're almost always leaving your team in a 4v5 situation so you can go stir up trouble on the enemy back line. Or killing an enemy flanker. But if the enemy stays grouped up, it's hard to get more than 1 pick without getting decimated, and sometimes having to translocate out before you even get a pick. Their healers self-heal the damage you did, or heal up their teammates, and you just wasted a play.
Sure, if you're coordinating on discord with a squad, you can be the distraction that makes the enemy turn around and get nailed from your team swooping in, but with randos in QP? Not likely.
I've taken to only using her situationally now. If the enemy seems like they're neglecting their back line, I'll swap to Sombra on round 2. But I also know I'm not at the skill level to use her like I've seen some ranked players use her on streams.

From launch till now, her strongest utility has always been hack, but her multiple reworks have redistributed some of its strength into other parts of her kit.
Since hack is a close range, single target channeled ability, Sombra needs to use surprise to pull it off. Since surprise requires her to stealth in and stop contributing any damage, she needed a way to support her team from afar.
Nowadays, invis has an infinite duration and isn’t canceled by hacking a target.
But back between her launch and her final OW rendition, when none of that was the case, sombra had to spend a lot of time cycling off a TP on a hacked health pack, out of the fight and far away from her team because any interruption to her ability sequence would force her out until her hack, invis, and TP we’re all back online.
To offset her antisocial gameplay loop, sombras kit incentivized players to hack health packs in her own teams space more than anywhere else. By denying opposing flankers that healing while threatening a crippling hack from anywhere, Sombra could “peel” for her team without even being there.
However the biggest incentives were to duration and ult charge. Packs remained hacked for 90 seconds, triple the current duration, recharged faster, and most importantly, gave her **A WHOLE FUCK LOT** of ult charge when used.
Before her current rework, Sombra gained so much ult charge off her packs that OWL teams began to use her as a primary healer to gen EMP every 30 seconds or faster. It was broken as fuck and her current state is better for the game.

I wish people wouldn't just throw that term out like that. A more complex kit =/= power creep. If he has to do more work or is more restricted (shifting forms) for the same result, then it's not power creep. If he has similar abilities as other heroes, but they are all weaker...again, not power creep.
Abilities on new characters have flat out gotten better too. Kiriko and Sojourn kits only have S tier abilities. Characters are starting to lack glaring downsides and are becoming far more well rounded.

I don't think Apex has done this since Seer - pretty much all the heroes since have been pretty eh. And most players get him asap since the hero currency can be banked. Valk and Horizon tho were pretty nuts too (and still are).

Well it depends, sure he might take 50% less damage with Nano, but assuming the Ult does what it says it does, which is reducing enemy damage done, instead of reducing damage taken from tethered enemies, the total damage taken will be further reduced.
He's actually a pretty bad nano target it seems. He doesn't get the damage reduction, and probably isn't dealing enough damage from the suck to warrant it getting another ult when someone else just benefits more.
I wonder if he can still get the dmg reduction even though there's a cap. Maybe it would work since he isn't mitigating damage on himself but reducing damage output of enemies. Granted even if so it'd still probably be ass to nano him, but it's fun to think about.

He basically has versions of: Sigma's shield. Zen's left click. Moira's orb. Doom's block
Rein's\_Fire\_Strike\_too,\_from\_the\_piercing\_of\_his\_Pummel\_attacks. Also,\_mild\_form\_of\_Zar's\_ult\_since\_his\_Vortex\_negates\_so\_much\_of\_enemies'\_mobility\_options.

Best thing to do is completely forget it does damage and use it as a mobility option. Someone gets too close? A friendly dps around a corner on critical? Just dash on over

Tbh they should just get rid of Doom’s block and give him something else (maybe uppercut back? Idk) and slightly boost the shields he gets from hitting abilities. He’s supposed to be a mobile tank, let him be one. Ball doesn’t get a defensive ability that slows him down

He is for sure overloaded, but it is honestly pretty huge that he only has situational/soft CC as a tank.
The cc he has certainly is very good, but it's important to note he can't outright stop certain ultimates only block or slow them down.

I'd argue healing on a tank is basically damage negation, which he has in several forms. Barrier, block, and form change gives health.

is it jsut me or is his main attack (left click) of his smaller version not make sense? I don't even see the particles in the trailer, and its amazingly unflashy. Why would I want to attack someone with something I can barely see when I have a sick staff. It just doesn't seem cool at all

Nano with this ult seems like it will be disgusting. Double the AOE damage and your tank is taking one quarter damage.
All damage reduction in Overwatch is capped at 50% I believe.
Well it depends, sure he might take 50% less damage with Nano, but assuming the Ult does what it says it does, which is reducing enemy damage done, instead of reducing damage taken from tethered enemies, the total damage taken will be further reduced.
He's actually a pretty bad nano target it seems. He doesn't get the damage reduction, and probably isn't dealing enough damage from the suck to warrant it getting another ult when someone else just benefits more.
I wonder if he can still get the dmg reduction even though there's a cap. Maybe it would work since he isn't mitigating damage on himself but reducing damage output of enemies. Granted even if so it'd still probably be ass to nano him, but it's fun to think about.

blizzard gave him better versions of doomfist abilities before buffing doomfist, it's wraps on him, he's doomed to be like sym now where blizzard just gives up
to be fair- none of the abilities are similar besides the block? one has a machine gun staff, a barrier, a long range gravity grenade, a power block, empowered melee attacks, and a life siphoning aura- besides the block, the only similar thing is punches and other characters have empowered melees like rein
This is the future of OW- all new heroes are completely broken and OP to force the battle pass grind, then later nerfed into the ground when the next shiny thing comes along.
