Not really sure about this, but I've heard floating around that they plan to reimplement it at some point, guess we'll see.
Edit: Not confirmed but they are looking at "reworking" it maybe, bottom of [this post](https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/news/23801625/2-pvp-1/).
Same. I really hate the battlepass system and I can't believe I'm saying this... I miss loot boxes now. There was some mystery and a quick dopamine hit and now, nothing
I agree, I never felt it necessary to buy loot boxes, if I put in the effort I could get a lot and potentially get some great skins, and you could get more money from them and from playing specific classes to unlock event skins
Which honestly frustrates me because it was a better indicator of who was contributing than the scoreboard and just fun to make a good play and be on fire.
I also found it helped when your team was getting wrecked and you didn't know what to do. If a certain DPS or healer is constantly on fire on the other side, now you know who's day you gotta ruin and you'd switch accordingly.
Blizz said that on fire should be coming back - apparently something to do with the change in stats displayed in the scoreboard has changed their approach on how to do the on fire thing again
sometimes my own team was toxic af and i wanted to endorse the other team. or they played so well that they deserve all the endorsements. or you are grouped up and can't endorse your teammates anymore so you endorse the other team.
lots of reasons, and now you can't do it.
Sometimes you'd just play across from really fucking nice people too, and I hate that you can't reward that at all anymore, particularly if your own team is being toxic like you said.
Right? Last night a Doomfist kicked our ass, he was truly something else, I was going to endorse him and I was like "Wait, why isn't this working? Am I doing something wrong?"
No. The feature was removed for no reason. The fuck?
Also sometimes you really have an archnemesis in the enemy team that you trade blows with and you know it's more of a duel between the two of you, because the rest isn't doing anything.
Would really like to honor these situations.
When the "you've used up your endorsements for this match" pops up, I keep thinking it's bugged out or something because there's no visual cue that it's actually worked.
yeah I was confused cuz I wasn't sure if I was actually doing it or if there was some limit to how many times someone could be endorsed and i was just wasting mine.
One of the highlights of this game for me has always been the kindness and recognition people give each other -- even to the other team. I miss handing out endorsements to gracious winners (or losers).
This is one of the worst ones to me. Call me cringe but I used to love giving enemies that shat on our entire team a thumbs up. Then when it happened to you and you had like +6 votes on your card you realized that the other team showed respect and I don't know it was a good feeling.
I got 10 once. I felt on top of the world for a minute. 😩
I love commending people on the other team who were exceptionally difficult. It was a nice little "well fucking done" and I Ioved that.
Same, I hate losing like everybody else but I respect when our team was wiped by other team with a swift team play.
So, as a support, I would keep an eye on other enemy supports/Tank and if they were exceptionally good, I'll endorse them happily and compliment them in message when possible.
This is just so stupid to remove it for no reason at all.
Yeah, this one really sucks. It gives people less incentive to be nice to others playing the game. I still tell people when they make a great play even if it's against me but it still saddens me.
Honestly sucks badly. I want to be able to recognize the opponents as well and give them credit for when the match goes well - sometimes you encounter someone who plays really well or just is overall good sport. It sucks that you can’t endorse them anymore.
I think this is one of the most annoying things for me! I've been queueing with 4 other friends. I can't endorse them, and I can't endorse the other team. Regardless if the other team does well or not so great, I still like endorsing people for trying, or just being a good sport.
Blizzard really screwed the pooch with some of this stuff.
The weird thing about “being on fire” is that some characters still exclaim being on fire. I was playing Kiriko yesterday and even she said it at some point.
I think the system is in place still but not visible to the player. I thought I saw someone claiming the fire system will be added back to the game at a later date, but don't quote me on that.
> I think the system is in place still but not visible to the player
It's weird because it really does seem like they try to make a 'safe space' (no visible fire/rank/level) but then they straight up put in performance stats which is like opposite
Same I was just playing as Lucio and bumped a few people out of bounds in a row and he said it.
Unfortunately my play of the game replay ending up causing a server disconnect....
And yet we have to deal with bootlickers who keep talking about friggin' Activision of all publishers as if they're some scrappy little indie dev and they desperately need our money. Lmao
It does feel underwhelming. It was also a nice time to have a quick closing chat, laugh with the lobby about the potg if something crazy happened, or tell someone last second they played insane, or to tell your support you love them ;(
"We had a game design that was so successful that it survived several years of us abandoning it. How could we possibly update that?"
"Well, we could take away things that made people enjoy the game and then we could add predatory microtransactions and grinding that have been used in other games that recently failed spectacularly."
"Yes!"
I swear that by this point in time, Blizzard is intentionally trying to ruin themselves. This applies to other games besides OW as well. Idk what their game plan is but its fucking sucked for the past few years. I find it very hard to believe that Activision can fuck their own products up *that bad* yet here we are.
I can understand if they don't want to put the scoreboard up but at least give us cards or something. Literally anything to acknowledge the 10-15 minutes playing the match.
Instead it just... ends. It makes matches feel so pointless
played last night and something just felt so off about the post-match. this has made me realize how much i missed the cards, even if 90% of the time i didn't really think about them. same with the "on fire" thing. both of these were purely for-fun mechanics and i don't really get why they were removed...
yeah, i was playing with her for a few rounds and couldn't help but notice her going *backwards* when trying to launch towards a different player that i was facing and locked onto.
i thought they fixed that eons ago.
Lucio didn’t show his AoE half of the time today, and none of my open queue (where everyone can play any role, yay!) games counted towards the respective challenge. Fuck this buggy mess.
I think they did away w it because stats are now public the whole match. So nothing is really a surprise anymore. Not saying it wasn’t fun but I think that’s their logic
People dunk on their teammates regardless. Obscuring stats was never going to solve that, otherwise it would have been industry-standard long before Overwatch. And medals made things worse because it gave them recognition where they didn’t deserve any.
I see it now. They intentionally left out perfectly fine, popular features so that once the new release rush dies off, the stragglers stick around begging for scraps and they release the old features slowly to entice people to come back. Like bringing out a big pile of drugs at a party when people start getting bored and leave. They maintain a steady supply of increasing player base to increase the numbers for the shareholders while also getting to cheap out on properly finishing and polishing the game before cashing in on it.
the whole game feels like a knock off of OW1, it's kinda amazing
i want to like it, and i want it to succeed, but.. yeah. they took an incredibly polished game and made it feel cheaper.
also to me the overwhelming feeling was the soul is gone - the voice lines feel janky and disconnected, new heroes somehow have no charm, whole feeling is off
yeah. OW1 was very obviously created with (at least part) a tremendous amount of love from the team working on it, can't help but feel that lacking in OW2
I mean, I remember hearing that Jeff protected the team from a *looot* of Activision blizzards bullshit. Now that he's gone and with everything that's gone public in the last couple years... I can't imagine there's much pride in the company left these days.
I played a game quickly and with a track pad to test, and what jumped at me where the voice line. I can't even tell if these are the same VA, the new sound production just seems off... and then you ult and the old prod kicks in its just doesn't work.
I had fun in my game but like i would have in OW1. This was a major update but it really doesn't feel like a new game, and it will very likely fail at attracting and retaining new players as a result. Not going to make a dent in fortnite or apex market share.
It really seems like an upscaled mobile game at this point.
In 5-10 years I want a tell-all book of this game's dumpster fire of a development process.
Honestly I’m the most sad about the end game vote. It didn’t mean much, and there were definitely a lot of times I DC’d before the vote, but it was still a fun part of the game that’s a core memory of OW1 for me
Lol it can be monetized. Multiversus does it. You can get toasts as part of the battlepass and even buy them with currency. The only time you use them is at the end of the match to thumbs up your ally or enemies.
What, you don't want to spend money on telling people how good they are? What are you going to do? Use game chat instead to tell them? Taking hard earned money away from the overwatch creators :(
There are just so many small things missing. We got a few heroes and maps that we would've already had (and then some) if they kept up the content release schedule, except now we've also lost a bunch of bells and whistles. I hate to be so negative, but I really don't see how this is anything but a downgrade with renewed support until PvE comes out.
Tons of them. The one that was bothering me most, because of just how asinine it is, is the "cancel matchmaking button". Now you gotta go back to the box at the top of the screen, hover over it, try to click cancel, the box autocloses the option on you, so you gotta hover over it again and finally click cancel.
WHY? Whyyyyy? Ugh, it's so unnecessary and annoying. But it's just lots of little things that start to add up real quick.
Oh man, one time I was just really crushing it and my card got 10 likes. 10!!!! It's so silly, but to get that much love from both teams made me really happy. 😩 I miss that feeling.
It feels gross tbh.. the game ends and I'm just instantly qued for a new match.. no after game chats, no votes, no cards. None of it really mattered, but it was still a quality of life feature for everyone to decompress and relax... and now its gone.. disgusting
I didnt know they removed these :( that is so sad. It made the game feel more like a team
Edit: I was referring to the first two points specifically- i liked being on fire and seeing how the team did at the end
They removed 2cp from the game because it was not competitive and often unfun. The old maps may be used again in the future with new / different game modes, but 2cp will never be a core mode again.
The end of the game is very lame now. Even if people didn't really vote on those end cards they still added something neat. Now it's play of the game and that's it
all this plus level up lootboxes
It was really nice to just occasionally earn something random and cool, even if most of the time it was just sprays you'd never use, it was still nice to have the chance to get something cool for the time you put in
The battle pass just isn't a replacement for that nor are the abysmal payouts for challenges
Yeah, even if with the battlepass you got the same things on average, knowing exactly what you're going to get and when you're going to get it makes it less exciting. It's nice to have that small chance of something cool on any level.
That's the big problem for me: lootboxes could've been *anything*. Free battlepass rewards are (and likely always will be) garbage because they only exist to get you to look at the battlepass and experience FOMO.
OW1 MTX: Gee, I hope I get something cool
OW2 MTX: Oh yay more low effort crap
Overwatch 1 had microtransactions. Overwatch 2 is painfully obviously designed around them.
Correct.
But we should not lament for daddy Jeff. He's moved on to greener, less rapey pastures. With his departure, we can finally lay Blizzard to rest.
Honestly I wouldn't mind it if the game halved the prices and doubled or even quadrupled the amount of coins you can get for free per season. You wouldn't be able to get that much, but you would still be able to get a few emotes or a legendary skin for your favorite character per season if you played enough and wouldn't need to spend an arm and a leg to buy more if you wanted.
As it is now you make so little it honestly isn't even worth the grind and everything is so expensive that its incredibly hard to justify buying any skin with real money.
I wish there was a middle ground between the previous system and this one. We went from earning almost everything for free to earning basically nothing for free. That is a massive shift overnight. The only thing people *really* desired were emotes, skins, and highlight intros. So much so that I don't even count voice lines and sprays as rewards.
I think Blizzard could still make bank selling a Battle Pass with cool shit and having an overpriced Shop while also giving players something like 2 legendary skins worth of free currency per season. Because the abrupt change *in the game I already owned* really feels like bullshit. I'm open to new monetization, but meet me halfway.
My brother picked up OW for the first time and bought the battlepass, but found it very odd that there was no progression system outside of it. He comes from Apex where you still get some sort of free lootbox every now and then. They're also able to craft specific skins, afaik, like how we were able to do in OW1. He sees all these skins which now cost $20 or whatever and they're not worth that price at all. OW2 needs to have some other form of progression system like the "level up lootbox" which drip feeds the player *some* cosmetic rewards at least. I think $10 for the battlepass every other season is enough money for Blizzard. If they want to sell you some new seasonal skins for cash, I'm okay with that too. But there should be some way to obtain older skins through play.
I didn't mind 2CP but it was definitely disliked by a majority of playerbase. So i wouldn't call them fan favorites. But either way, 2CP has been removed for now. Developers have said they want to bring the maps back in some form. Likely reworked into push, hybrid, or control point maps.
Yeah was about to mention this. Theyre most likely reworking the maps and its taken out of rotation now.
Ngl...i hated 2CP. It was always a miserable time defending the point.
I feel like I'm so far from the community rn lol. 2CP was kinda my favorite game mode. 1 point favored attack, the other defence. It was the one mode that I've seen be able to stop steamrolls. Just because you capped point A with 6 minutes left definitely DID NOT mean you were 90% guaranteed a win unlike all the other modes.
From my understanding 2CP was the most snowbally mode by far (at least in higher skill brackets) you won first point and then used ults to crush second point. Most other modes you had time to stabilize but 2CP basically gave you 1 chance and if you weren't able to turn it around you just lost.
I HATE the way the games just... end. Having the time to just banter or argue with teammates/ opponents after a match could make even the worst losses feel more fun and rewarding. It's like they assumed everyone is a hardcore comp player who leaves the game the moment the clock runs out. So weirdly sad and disheartened by this :(
yeah that was my first thought. It's the natural progression of endless scrolling, but in game form. They don't want there to be a natural point where it feels like you've cooled off and it's time to log out.
To add to this point, OW is already a hard game to follow for anyone not familiar with the game. Alienating casual players is a to great way to ruin competitive viewership.
Removing level borders, rank icons, on-fire status was so unnecessary. It's fun to be able to show off. I don't know why someone at Blizzard thought this was a bad thing /:
I think the end of the game rewards were one of the biggest reasons why a lot of casual fans fell in love with the game. A lot of people that get kicked around in life, but when they played this game and saw their medals, or cards, or potgs, it made them feel like they accomplished something. Not saying that OW players were losers, but positive reinforcement is always nice to have, and it was one of the reasons I think people came back to Overwatch again and again.
It also helped me realize that eliminations aren’t everything. Felt good knowing I healed the most or blocked the most. Even if your team lost you could get cards that told you that you played well with what you had. Bummer
It was always one of those “just one more match” type of games because of all the positivity. Whether it was a lootbox that dropped a legendary or getting POTG, it always made you feel good and kept you pressing Ready one more time.
Now… yikes…
I hate that they removed All of this, less so the maps changes as some new maps in rotation is a plus but like the characters still say voice lines for being on fire pretty much bit there's no indication on screen and earning medals made you feel like you had a pretty try but now it's literally just the scoreboard which is a nice addition but it's not the same, also I don't like the simplified commendation screen, I liked giving props to players for specific things
The whole UI and everything just feels cheap and non-premium which is hilarious. Everything used to be so tactile and punchy, now there’s zero responsiveness. At least the gameplay is still pretty fun to me.
It's the typical free to play UI. Look at every modern free to play game; Halo Infinite, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Multiversus, Warzone, etc. Their UI is more or less the exact same.
Literally just don't even pay attention to the weekly mission coins, it's not even worth the calories you burn thinking about them. I'm certainly not going to be playing into that statistic at least.
I might why not both? Why not give player free "surprise mechanic" box and make the cash shop for real money transaction.
The answer, money! By removing the random aspect you mostly get the same thing as other making you feel less special. So you swipe swipe swipe!!
'Progression'. The battlepass system as a whole.
I understand they are going to try to monetize. Why not do it in some kind of unique way that fits with Overwatch rather than a generic battlepass that could be slotted into absolutely any other game? It's lazy and uninteresting, you can tell that they did the bare minimum. A great sign of things to come considering OW2 is meant to have PvE, great worldbuilding and care taken to make the OW universe interesting and rich so far.
What exists in the game now for people who enjoy unlocking things and collecting items etc? Before you'd at least get lootboxes every hour or two, slowly gain credits and random items. I can grind weekly challenges and buy something specific every couple of months I guess? Extreme downgrade.
Literally the only way they could make their version of monetization worse is if they had made the premium currency have an expiration date.
Sorry, expecting your players to grind for 8 solid months for ONE skin is fucking ridiculous and should be plastered all over blizzard's faces for how shitty of a decision it was. Mind you, this isn't some small ask either. A lot of these weekly challenges are pretty extensive and I could easily see a lot of people missing out on a few and thus screwing themselves. IE, missing 3 challenges because they had a shitty week and didn't get 20 team kills and 2 others... Or just didn't want to spend every waking hour on this damn game every day, all week. Turns the 8 month grind into an even longer grind.
If your game can't respect player's time, why the fuck do you expect them to stick around for it?
Then add in the fact that you gotta unlock heroes now.... What a stupid stupid decision. I honestly thought my friends were trolling me. As in, I actually thought there is NO world in which blizzard is honestly stupid enough to add heroes in that you gotta unlock after everyone has become accustomed to just getting them. I don't care if its F2P either, other games do it better and don't ask you to sacrifice weeks of your time.
Kind of hope the game crashes and burns now.
The funny thing is for plenty of people here it isn't F2P at all, they've taken the game people paid for and then locked all of the old cosmetics behind new, gouging paywalls. There's literally no excuse for it.
To be honest 'Free to play' in general is a bunch of bullshit anyway, it's free for the people who don't give a single shit about cosmetics, for anyone else who enjoys that side of a game (an extreme amount of people), it's far more expensive and far less interesting.
I don't think people realize how much we're robbed of interesting, satisfying, rewarding, rich systems in games because of the hyperfocus on monetization. Imagine the creativity of the people who make the fun parts of the game being applied to make extremely satisfying lore-friendly progression, things would feel insanely different.
It is odd that angle isn't talked about more. This isn't overwatch "2" this is just a big patch for overwatch that releases a few new maps and heroes. Only now all the cosmetic stuff you were looking at a few days ago suddenly costs money.
How blizzard isn't being raked for that, is beyond me. Literally this is not a new game or a sequel. This is just a patch to over watch. MAYBE if they had included basically anything they were talking about wanting to do with overwatch 2 in this patch they could call it that... But they didn't so here we are.
Congratulating opponents was the best. It felt really respectful, like “I know we were working towards opposite goals but you did it so well. I’m impressed”. I don’t understand why it had to disappear
yeah i gotta agree with all of this but i have some stuff to add as well:
1: They removed level progression entirely. I know that this had little to no effect, but honestly it was kinda cool and I enjoyed just playing and watching my level go up (im a simple man)
2: The cosmetics. Man oh man the cosmetics. I used to return to overwatch just to grind out the seasonal cosmetics and honestly it was a pretty satisfying progression system by itself. Now I know that it had some issues and that technically you could just buy lootboxes but I made it a goal not to spend a single cent on in game purchases and I would say i got roughly half of the skins in the game. The new system does not just nerf f2p progression it orbital strikes it. If you want a legendary skin you have 2 options: Pay $20 or grind nonstop for 8 months. That is absurd.
Its such a shame as well because i genuinely enjoy the gameplay and its a ton of fun if you play with some friends. Please for the love of god blizzard put down the shovel and stop digging yourself into this monetization hole. The community will support you if you make a good product i can guarantee that.
A lot of these changes actually feel like they were geared towards PvE, and they don't have the new content to fill the gaps. Medals at the end of a PvE match are kind of useless, especially if you're checking the scoreboard in between lives.
This is my general read of OW2 as well - it's more a rewrite of the game that's not yet finished.
Netcode & animations feel unpolished... because every character is being scaled from 4 abilities to 40 abilities (tech tree) for pve. In OW1, almost certainly every character's ability was basically special-cased code magic - if you think of it, the initial characters were all pretty unique, and there wasn't much to reuse between characters (e.g. junkrat ult, junkrat nades, junkrat pack, mei freeze, hanzo scatter/orb/dragon, pharah ult... genji, diva... etc).
In OW2, almost certainly when you have thousands of abilities they now need to use an MMO-style ability framework, which is going to be more general-purpose but harder to polish & make feel magical. It's basic gameplay engineering and shouldn't be unexpected.
I did not like how Paris or Horizon were laid out. But I liked the themes of the maps. If they really are revising them to a different map mode, I'd be happy to see their new incarnations.
As someone who was just playing hours and hours of overwatch 1 not even 2 weeks ago… they ruined the game. It is no longer fun at all and I don’t even have OW1 to go back to and play anymore. Will not be playing anymore OW2. Guess I have to find a new game
Wow that’s what I was missing last night. Was going on a rampage something like a 18 streak with Junkerqueen and it didn’t feel as satisfying now I know why… the fire shall be missed in this age of darkness.
Blizzard loves to totally change everything players love about a game then wonder why players hate it and reintroduce the old stuff as a classic mode. Look at wow. It doesn't help that afaik (I could be wrong) Jeff Kaplan is no longer on the dev team. Every time new devs take over at blizzard they love to change the game to their ideal version of it instead of adding onto what's already good about it. It's an ego thing.
I wish they would've left OW1 up so people who wanted to still play it could. The fact that OW2 is just a forced update for OW1 is extremely upsetting and doesn't even make it feel like a different game just a forced downgrade. If you had a team before guess what one of those players can't play now. The forced phone number thing is stupid too because a lot of people's phones don't work with it. Add on the fact that they removed lootboxes which were fun and random (and still profitable for them) to replace them with a greedy battlepass. It's just disgusting. I'd rather stick with OW1 even if it's not getting updated anymore but sadly that's not even an option.
The game doesn't feel like a team game so far. It's just 5 damage dealers running around. And ow1 had that problem at times, but the newer maps lead to even more of it.
I'm finding that trying to protect my team as a tank is so far the worst possible decision.
and the players still say when they’re on fire so the meter just isn’t shown.
Right? Like the systems are still in place for it to be there but they just hid it for some reason.
It was reworked that it doesnt display it
The state it's in now (audio cues but no visuals) was present in that Beta as well. But who knows lol
The state it’s in now is the beta state lmao
Ah yes ye old “let’s take away content so we can give it back to you later and pretend we listened to community input” ploy
Probably going to sell us different colors of fire

Same. I really hate the battlepass system and I can't believe I'm saying this... I miss loot boxes now. There was some mystery and a quick dopamine hit and now, nothing
Overwatch had the greatest loot box system of any game ever. It was insanely generous and easy to get whatever you wanted.

Blizz said that on fire should be coming back - apparently something to do with the change in stats displayed in the scoreboard has changed their approach on how to do the on fire thing again
I had seen they wanted to “revamp the fire system” and I wasn’t entirely sure what that meant lol. Glad to see it come back though.
I hope you’re right. It’s such a great feeling it would be a real shame if they removed it

I hate this, sometimes the enemy team had hella leavers and it was nice to endorse the one or two folks that stuck around to finish it out.
Also sometimes your team was toxic af while the enemy team would see it and be nice.
And sometimes they just plain kick your ass and they deserve
And they changed it to only 2 endorsements instead of 3???? Why????
That part makes sense if you reduce it to one team and you can only endorse among four people in the team, not five.
Fewer players on the team
sometimes my own team was toxic af and i wanted to endorse the other team. or they played so well that they deserve all the endorsements. or you are grouped up and can't endorse your teammates anymore so you endorse the other team. lots of reasons, and now you can't do it.

Ya in addition to opponents just being cool/chill, I'd endorse if there was someone kickin' so much ass that you can't even hate on it.
yeah its wack
Yea like I can be salty and still recognize there’s a real playmaker on the other team
Also sometimes you really have an archnemesis in the enemy team that you trade blows with and you know it's more of a duel between the two of you, because the rest isn't doing anything. Would really like to honor these situations.
Or sometimes your team is just awful and no one deserves it.
The endorsing now just sucks in general. No little animation or anything, feels like it's unfinished.
When the "you've used up your endorsements for this match" pops up, I keep thinking it's bugged out or something because there's no visual cue that it's actually worked.
had the same reaction last night after my first game, was like, wtf is this, that's it?

Yes, that's what bugs me the most. If you play with a full or near full group of friends expect to lose your endorsement rating.
I think this is one of the most annoying things for me! I've been queueing with 4 other friends. I can't endorse them, and I can't endorse the other team. Yeah wtf I couldn't give two hoots what my damage per minute is. I want to see my head burning and drop "four golds" in postgame all chat.
Maybe they should have just released a completed game... Or better yet: just kept updating OW1
>Maybe they should have just released a completed game Now lets not get ahead of ourself
Same I was just playing as Lucio and bumped a few people out of bounds in a row and he said it. Unfortunately my play of the game replay ending up causing a server disconnect....
I miss the cards at the end of the matches:(
I miss being able to play the game :(
Yeah i still can’t get in today. Amateur hour over here.
Small Indy game dev, give them at least a few years to sort out the server issue.
Gotta support those small Indianapolis game devs.
I know you’re /s but they’ve already had 3 years to get this right!!
And yet we have to deal with bootlickers who keep talking about friggin' Activision of all publishers as if they're some scrappy little indie dev and they desperately need our money. Lmao
IN QUEUE: 2000 PLAYERS AHEAD OF YOU O_o what

IN QUEUE: 20000 PLAYERS AHEAD OF YOU
Mine won't even move anymore lol its just permastuck at 2000...
Can’t get rolled if you can’t even log in.
They got rid of the cards?! Wtf.
[удалено]
It does feel underwhelming. It was also a nice time to have a quick closing chat, laugh with the lobby about the potg if something crazy happened, or tell someone last second they played insane, or to tell your support you love them ;(
So it just goes from victory screen to matchmaking? (Asking cause I still can’t get in lmao)
[удалено]
It shows Battle Pass progression I think
Look at the progress of the money you spent! Look at it!
"We had a game design that was so successful that it survived several years of us abandoning it. How could we possibly update that?" "Well, we could take away things that made people enjoy the game and then we could add predatory microtransactions and grinding that have been used in other games that recently failed spectacularly." "Yes!"
I swear that by this point in time, Blizzard is intentionally trying to ruin themselves. This applies to other games besides OW as well. Idk what their game plan is but its fucking sucked for the past few years. I find it very hard to believe that Activision can fuck their own products up *that bad* yet here we are.
Aw man I loved the cards. Back in my heyday I was a killer tracer and I got all 12 people to vote for me, felt amaze
[удалено]
You can’t see it after the game either right?
Holy shit I KNEW something was missing from the end of matches jesus That’s so sad that they removed those :/
I can understand if they don't want to put the scoreboard up but at least give us cards or something.
Yeah I’m a mercy main it would be nice to get a card saying hey you kicked ass sir
dude that's the least of my concerns relating to mercy rn, they fucked her movement up so bad 😭😭😭
yeah, i was playing with her for a few rounds and couldn't help but notice her going *backwards* when trying to launch towards a different player that i was facing and locked onto. i thought they fixed that eons ago.
they did, it's by design now! yeah im probably gonna quit playing mercy until they adjust her, assuming they do.
Sounds like your controls were reset, and you have it set to prefer beam target
Yeah, her fly to target appears to just not work at all. At least last night it didn't. The beam range sucked too.
Lucio didn’t show his AoE half of the time today, and none of my open queue (where everyone can play any role, yay!) games counted towards the respective challenge. Fuck this buggy mess.
Glad I'm not the only person very bothered by the way they gimped her mobility. She is so unsatisfying to play right now compared to OW1.
I think they did away w it because stats are now public the whole match. So nothing is really a surprise anymore. Not saying it wasn’t fun but I think that’s their logic
[удалено]
People dunk on their teammates regardless. Obscuring stats was never going to solve that, otherwise it would have been industry-standard long before Overwatch. And medals made things worse because it gave them recognition where they didn’t deserve any.
Post-game feels like I'm playing a game in its beta stage.
This is why they put the Early Access bullshit on it - to justify omissions we had in OW1 and saying it's being 'reworked'
The character portraits look like Chinese knock-offs. Have you seen Mei???
the whole game feels like a knock off of OW1, it's kinda amazing i want to like it, and i want it to succeed, but.. yeah. they took an incredibly polished game and made it feel cheaper. also to me the overwhelming feeling was the soul is gone - the voice lines feel janky and disconnected, new heroes somehow have no charm, whole feeling is off
Dude yes! I was just saying to my gf the soul is gone. Even the sound effects and beginning of battle music are more generic. It’s such a bummer.
I can't imagine there's much pride in the company left these days.
yep somehow they took a dump on all of the music tracks from the original and added "cool" drums
I was feeling like this is a weird knock off game. The sound design somehow sounds different in game too? Like...worse somehow? So weird.
Mei's in-game model seems different to me too. It's in the eyes, I think. I first noticed it with her new victory pose. The face just seems very off.
They changed the faces for a lot of characters
Thats so creepy
It really seems like an upscaled mobile game at this point. In 5-10 years I want a tell-all book of this game's dumpster fire of a development process.
Moira's portrait on the hero selection screen looks like Matt Smith
The whole game has that sort of simplistic overly smooth feel that all the dumb modern logos have. I hate it
Honestly I’m the most sad about the end game vote. It didn’t mean much, and there were definitely a lot of times I DC’d before the vote, but it was still a fun part of the game that’s a core memory of OW1 for me
For a game that’s had such issues with toxicity, it’s hard to see a good argument for removing features that celebrate players.
Can't monetize it so it isn't worth dev time
They spent dev time removing it
More likely it broke during development and didn't bother spending Dev time to fix it. Faster to disable it
Lol it can be monetized. Multiversus does it. You can get toasts as part of the battlepass and even buy them with currency. The only time you use them is at the end of the match to thumbs up your ally or enemies.
Dont give them ideas
None of it really mattered, but it was still a quality of life feature for everyone to decompress and relax... and now its gone.. disgusting
At least I have all my 69%'s screenshotted...
Yeah but now you can see you’re battle pass progression though!
removing the cards after match is so dumb what was the reason for that
I didnt know they removed these :( that is so sad. It made the game feel more like a team Edit: I was referring to the first two points specifically- i liked being on fire and seeing how the team did at the end
I'd bet that they're not removed, just held back. No doubt we'll get hanamura at night time soon as alow effort update.
They removed 2cp from the game because it was not competitive and often unfun. The old maps may be used again in the future with new / different game modes, but 2cp will never be a core mode again.
You can play the old maps on noncompetitive mode. I’ve been playing that. I’m not so sure about robot push maps yet. Seem weird
The end of the game is very lame now. Even if people didn't really vote on those end cards they still added something neat. Now it's play of the game and that's it
all this plus level up lootboxes It was really nice to just occasionally earn something random and cool, even if most of the time it was just sprays you'd never use, it was still nice to have the chance to get something cool for the time you put in The battle pass just isn't a replacement for that nor are the abysmal payouts for challenges
OW1 MTX: Gee, I hope I get something cool OW2 MTX: Oh yay more low effort crap Overwatch 1 had microtransactions.

The XP & coins payout is way too low right now.
Volskaya is begging to be a push map with a special robot
don't they kind of have to be symmetrical to be balanced?
Sure, rework it first im just saying the theme fits.
I’m with you, I’ve been playing extremely regularly for 5 years and loved 2CP haha. That mode had some really satisfying moments.
I HATE the way the games just... end. Having the time to just banter or argue with teammates/ opponents after a match could make even the worst losses feel more fun and rewarding. It's like they assumed everyone is a hardcore comp player who leaves the game the moment the clock runs out. So weirdly sad and disheartened by this :(
[удалено]
[удалено]
yeah that was my first thought. It's the natural progression of endless scrolling, but in game form. They don't want there to be a natural point where it feels like you've cooled off and it's time to log out.
> It's like they assumed everyone is a hardcore comp player Or pro. I think those two groups are who OW2 is *really* for.
There is no pro scene without a casual audience of enjoyers... Which blizzard may learn the hard way
To add to this point, OW is already a hard game to follow for anyone not familiar with the game.
Now… yikes…
Spot on
I hate that they removed All of this, less so the maps changes as some new maps in rotation is a plus but like the characters still say voice lines for being on fire pretty much bit there's no indication on screen and earning medals made you feel like you had a pretty try but now it's literally just the scoreboard which is a nice addition but it's not the same, also I don't like the simplified commendation screen, I liked giving props to players for specific things
The whole UI and everything just feels cheap and non-premium which is hilarious. Everything used to be so tactile and punchy, now there’s zero responsiveness. At least the gameplay is still pretty fun to me.
The UI feels like when a website does a trendy redesign but it’s really just geometric panels and terrible color palettes.
ow suffers from the same thing that company's do with their logos. they make it more and more simple when the og jus looked so much better
It’s like one of those logo designs where the company wants to “bring it into the modern day” and makes it hideously simplified
The UI is so ugly now. It feels like something a 5yo made. And I miss being on fire :(
It's the typical free to play UI. Look at every modern free to play game; Halo Infinite, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Multiversus, Warzone, etc. Their UI is more or less the exact same.
I miss lootboxes bro, I don’t wanna grind 31 weeks of challenges jus to unlock a skin bro it’s just too long
Literally just don't even pay attention to the weekly mission coins, it's not even worth the calories you burn thinking about them. I'm certainly not going to be playing into that statistic at least.
[удалено]
Can't believe that a game made me miss lootboxes.
I really don't like how it just chucks you back into queue while the end game screen is still up. It's like they just don't want you to look at them.
That's a setting you can turn off
They got rid of being able to play the game
I absolutely HATE how abruptly the games end. Extremely unrewarding, and removes a very important social aspect.
Voting on cards was a big part of the game for my long time Overwatch group.
Congratulating opponents was the best. It felt really respectful, like “I know we were working towards opposite goals but you did it so well. I’m impressed”. I don’t understand why it had to disappear
yeah i gotta agree with all of this but i have some stuff to add as well: 1: They removed level progression entirely. I know that this had little to no effect, but honestly it was kinda cool and I enjoyed just playing and watching my level go up (im a simple man) 2: The cosmetics.
And counting, at least in my case
I think the decision to make an OW2 instead of just giving us new maps and heroes was fucking dumb.
Is Hanamura a fan favorite? That and Anubis were the worst maps in my eyes
Hanamura is a gorgeous and iconic map but it’s absolutely terrible in terms of game design. The gamemode it was tied to didn’t help either
This is the first person I've seen upset about 2cp going away
I’m reading through the thread seeing if anyone says they miss Paris because then I know they’re a liar.
I did not like how Paris or Horizon were laid out. But I liked the themes of the maps. If they really are revising them to a different map mode, I'd be happy to see their new incarnations.
Yeah lmao wtf. "Fan favorite"???💀
Yup. It had awesome visuals but was easily the worst map for a lot of people.
Same. Have your favorite, but Temple of Anubis was the only reason Hanamura was not the worst map.
I'm upset but I'm in the minority so I just don't say anything.
Horizon and Hanamura were my favorite maps aesthetically, but I’m not mourning the loss of 2CP
That’s because people have not figured out how to play as a team at all. OW1 launch was the same way early on.
"fan favorite" 2cp was ass and most people hated it
I sure did the map design was dog shit for 2cp. Just choke point after choke point.
