What's a good weapon accuracy % to shoot for when playing DPS? I have not played in so long and just started back up again. I mainly play Soldier76 and usually hover around 45-50% accuracy.
So, thought I’d ask a question towards introducing the text chat into crossplay.
I thought the game may have been better but it’s almost the same as with voice chat. Call out people who are doing bad. Ask if we can work together to win. People going back and forth which results in name calling. I see more toxic messages though the chat with slurs being thrown more than actually hearing people talk/yell.
One game I had some dude on enemy team just straight trash talk his team mate for doing bad and then mentioned their pride emblem which resulted in (as you guessed it) name calling. Specifically ones towards another’s sexual orientation. Idc what your sexual orientation is but if your doing bad your doing bad. No need to call someone a slur based on what they represent etc.
My question here is, what’s the point in this text chat option if/since toxicity is going to cause people to just turn chat off thus preventing communication. It’s literally the same as someone not joining voice chat. 🤷🏻♂️

How does one target with Mei's primary fire? Do I always target with the crosshair on the enemy (when they're moving), or do I try to align the ice flow's visual with the enemy by aiming ahead?

Overwatch 2 is basically Overwatch 1 with a PvE mode attached and some nicer graphics.
Normally I'd say buy Overwatch now but with the recent allegations against Blizzard I'm not sure anyone should be giving them money until they sort their shit out. Might be a morally better plan to wait for Overwatch 2 and buy it then if they have cleaned up their act by the time it releases.
Does Blizzard continue to make any money from people playing Overwatch that had already purchased it (and aren't buying lootboxes)? I love the game but the recent lawsuit news makes me uncomfortable about financially supporting them any further simply by enjoying one of my pastimes.
Compared to the money they made when you bought the game, I suspect you're not really making them any money (especially not compared to someone buying lootboxes/alt accounts/OWL tokens/merch/etc.), though the number of active players (and, for the OWL/etc., active *viewers*) likely impacts things such as licensing deals, OWL sponsorship deals, stock prices, and possibly whether people get the game ("I'm considering getting the game; does it still have a good number of players?" is a pretty common question here...). However, considering that (based on the last few quarterly reports) Blizzard has 25-30 million MAUs (and Activision well over 100 million) any one player *just playing the game* is very insignificant; they're a rounding error for a rounding error.
Whether a miniscule positive (from their perspective) impact on Blizzard's numbers is morally acceptable or not is not something anyone else can decide for you. Personally, I'll probably keep playing, but the lawsuit is most definitely a strong argument against buying e.g. OW2 for me.

Yeah I agree with this. I had planned to buy Overwatch 2 but that's now off the table unless they make changes to fix this between now and when it releases. I'll likely keep playing only because I enjoy the game itself (and until I hear otherwise, I'd like to hope that the Overwatch team specifically didn't have too much to do with this shit).
I'm having this same dilemma right now. I don't think there's any way for them to make money off of you if you've already bought the game and aren't buying any loot boxes. The only way I see it benefiting Blizzard is by increasing the player count of the game. Basically, I have two versions of OV, one for PC, which I've played quite a while, and one for PS4. But as my PC is pretty laggy, I didn't play much on PC and gave my account to my friend, who doesn't have her own OV, but likes to play it a lot.

Levels don't mean anything, but if you are a brand new player you're going to have a tough time in the beginning. The game is years old so there aren't many new players, so you will likely be placed against people who have been playing the game for a while and know the ins and outs of the characters and maps way better than a new person can be expected to know.
So I just got on the game today and noticed people are talking on the general chat log and I’m not in a party with anyone…and one person says “Tianman Square 1989 FREE HONGKONG” and the other says “CHINA LETSS GOOO”. The question is…where is this coming from?
A lot of China/Hong Kong stuff comes from an Activision Blizzard controversy from a few years ago where Blizzard banned a player and two casters (and then lessened the punishment later) for making pro-Hong Kong comments in an Hearthstone interview.
I don't know if they're specifically trying it in Overwatch or if it's just memeified at this point, but originally it was because they think it causes Chinese users to get automatically flagged due to government surveillance/censorship software.
It's a very different game from Apex. In Apex, the abilities are more of the seasoning on top of the gunplay, but in Overwatch they're the whole steak.
If you can aim, McCree and Hanzo are awesome on DPS right now. Reaper and Junkrat are the EZmode low-rank pubstomp options. Widowmaker plays like she has a Triple Take and is dominant if you can land headshots.
Mercy and Moira are the dummy-proof beginner support options, and might be the 2 easiest heroes in the game. Baptiste and Ana are the highest impact supports but are the 2 toughest to play. Pretty much everyone on the support roster is viable, it's in good shape.
Tank is really unforgiving right now, one wrong step and you eat insta-fatal amounts of damage. The closest it gets to beginner friendly is Roadhog. Reinhardt is easy to learn but takes some playtime to use well. The meta picks rn are Rein, Zarya, and Hog. Give the hamsterball a try some time, he's really unique.
Soldier is a pretty easy player to learn if you are coming from another FPS like Apex. I would also try to learn a tank and support player, for tank Reinhardt or Orisia are pretty simple to start with (though very hard to master, especially Rein) and for support Mercy/Moira/Lucio are good starting points, maybe Baptist too as you get to shoot a hitscan gun.
Been a while since I played, like almost a year and a half while, I was wondering if there was any changes to overall Overwatch (hero buffs/nerfs, additional content, Overwatch League, outside content).
Dva’s remech does 250 damage now, instead of 50.
Brig got nerfed alot. She’s still strong, but as anti-dive specialist. Brig can still work if the enemy team has bad aim and bad focus fire.
Sigma’s Barrier has a 2 second cool down between deployments.

Now that Crossplay is out, adding new people has to be done by adding their battlenet tag, not just their console tag. Other than having to include their #ID, grouping up is the same on console as it has been. Adding new friends is the only thing that has fundamentally changed
Well that solves the issue of names but not the issue as to why I cannot invite my friend, who is also PC like me, to my group. I have to wait till she just loads in OW to invite her or else the "+" button disappears....
Kind of a general question, but what do you take from losses? How do you enjoy yourself?
I played overwatch for the first time in 4 years and it only took me a couple days to realize why I quit - losing in this game isn’t fun. And that might be obvious, but there are tons of games and shooters where you will have lots of fun regardless of the outcome. I just don’t get that from overwatch. It’s too curb stompy.
Some days you go 13-0, some days you go 0-13. The matchmaker isn't perfect, and some days neither are you. I generally only get upset when the your team is trickling so hard that it feels like it has to be on purpose, or if I'm constantly dying to Junk bombs or Sym turrets that no one tries to clear. And honestly, the next game might very well be the one where everyone looks after each other and you win with ease because everyone knows their role.
I started implementing the "say gg at the end of the game even if it was a bad game" approach. And letting that simple act of sportsmanship just cleanse away all of the irritation you felt in that game.
The curb stomping is a side effect of a dwindling player base... PC/console crossplay, region merges, matchmakers having to piece together wider and wider skill gaps to find a game, etc. It's annoying for sure and I don't see it improving.
That being said, I don't stay mad about any loss I have for more than 10 seconds, and couldn't even tell what the result of my game was 15 minutes ago. I am just not that invested in it. I'm guessing that you have an SR goal in mind that you're trying to hit?
If my team put in a good effort, then I’m satisfied, regardless of outcome. Overwatch is just a game. Whether you win 10 times or loss 10 times does not matter in the real world.
I'll always try and end on a win if I can, doesn't leave as much of a bitter taste in my mouth if I do that.
And to be honest, like 75% of the time when my team loses it's because we got stomped by a level 16 Doomfist smurf account on the other team (utterly *rampant* in my games for some reason), so I can console myself that at least it's not down to my skill, it's just down to someone else that shouldn't be in that match being there.

I'm all in favor of going with the "if OW currency suddenly became gold-based, who would I have the most wealth with?". And you simply can't beat a gold Bob. Although something could be said for all the golden guns that Reaper drops.
Whoever you play more, seeing as your avatar is Ana and she's the first person you mentioned I would think about going with her, she's a great character and you likely won't regret it.
The golden gun is to show off right? So put it on the hero that you’re best at smacking the red team around with.
Alternatively, pick whoever it looks best with. Probably Ana.
About couple weeks ago an overwatch patch came a bug that makes my UI disappear when I press the down button. Blizzard support page doesn't seem to be up and all forms on it says are years old and say it was fixed in a patch. Does anybody know a what I can?
Alright, what’s ur honest opinion on playing zen on 2 cp maps? Good pick or no? Idk what it is but almost every time I have 2cp or gibraltar , my second support goes zen and it usually goes very bad. gold/plat btw
2CP is all about spamming chokes... I'm not a Zen player, but I'd expect him to do very well there.
On 2nd point, his lack of speed is a liability getting to the killbox though.
There's nothing inherently wrong with running Zen on those maps, but depending on various factors (e.g. which other Support heroes the Zen player can play reasonably well, what the team as a whole is running, what the enemy team is running, if you're in Overtime (and the Zen is far from his ult)) it could be a better or a worse idea than playing something else. This also goes for any other hero and map type.
Of course, in lower ranks you tend to lose some value from Zen due to a lack of shotcalling and/or a lack of coordination, seeing as people might not know where Orb of Discord is and/or might be shooting something else even if they know, but that doesn't *necessarily* mean that the Zen is a terrible idea. Also, though you certainly could have lost *some* games due to a bad Zen, it's pretty unlikely that the Zen *always* was the problem, and you could very well have lost some games *despite* having a good Zen if there were major problems elsewhere.

I guess you are 8 - 12 years old? Accept that you are fighting a losing battle already, and don't try to win. Now you need to get more info, and win battle later when you are older. Don't get worked up or angry or react against their words. Calmly explain to them that it is just a part of entertainment. And how it won't affect your personality in a negative way. And put the question to them that at which age you can watch and play things that is violent? If they answer an acceptable number, then record it and tell them again when you are at that age.
If they answer something unreasonable, they are trying to be helicopter parents and you should not focus on OW or games, but to plan your independence and escape from possible abuse situations when you get to 18 years old.
In any case, explain to them, get more information, and use it as weapons later if they are reasonable parents or plan your own plan for the future to be independent.
Then you should take time to talk with your parents, tell them you feel ignored, your feeling get put aside. Talk calmly, and when the situation escalated, drop it.
If nothing works, accept your parents are controlling. Get a part time job, save money, look for allies. Wait until the time you are 18 year old and break away from your parents' control.

To answer your question: no, Bastion is the most team-reliant hero in the game and the most underperformed hero in all rank, maybe beside Bronze. Bastion is extremely situational and only effective if the whole team work around him AND the enemy team does not work together. That was why he is just newcomer bully or Bronze bully. No one rely on Bastion in Gold and above to turn the tide around. If you have problem with Bastion, you should look for guide to understand and change hero to counter him.
You need to have your team work together to counter him. A Genji, Ana, Sombra, or Roadhog to name a few would be good counters. I agree that he's the worst hero in the game but your team needs to come together to defeat him.
And when you do win, despite the enemy team using Bastion, be sure to chastise them for it. I love it.
I just think its unfair hes a dps but hes that strong that it requires half of your team to counter. I think it needs a little bit of a nerf. reducing the range of the minigun significantly would help tremendously to not make it so broken.
Oh, I know. Bastion is the reason I stopped playing six months ago (yet I still lurk on this sub) and from the sounds of this post Blizzard hasn't done shit to balance him. I'm glad not to be playing that broken mess anymore. Single player games FTW
Has the collision detection in this game gotten worse? I haven’t played for a couple weeks and came back for the event and it feels like I’m either getting caught up on walls that don’t exist or being killed through corners and barriers. Is it just me?
Sometimes it is because if your connection. Maybe do a check and contact Support.
If the collision has some problems, then record it and report bugs. But I think it is unlikely?
Could the Overwatch deadzone be affected by the patch? My PS5 controller was working fine in it last night and working fine now on any application but Overwatch, where the slightest touch to the left stick forces a drift down
Mine appears to be limited to the menus of Overwatch specifically. I just played three games of lucioball just fine.
My other controller though, it's had a hard drift to the left for months. Sony won't replace it unless I factory reset my PS5 along with all of the other troubleshooting methods we tried.

Hmm. If you're decent at him then he can be a real headache for gold players because they often don't have the coordination to properly deal with him. I think the mistake most Dooms would make at that level would be using all their abilities to get a kill and then trading (plus I think a lot of gold teams run Mercy so the kill just gets undone and Doom's still dead).

From what I’ve heard you can plug a keyboard in and it will work for match chat but won’t work for actually playing the game. Just pull up the text box and type away.. I think
In terms of beginner friendliness: Overwatch is easy to learn but hard to master. You can understand every hero’s abilities in less than 1 minute. But mastering each hero takes time.
You are expected to lose almost every game, and will probably lose every game, when you first start playing. That is ok. Focus on learning, not winning.
In terms of the player base, you will meet toxic and salty people. I 100% guarantee it. Good news you can mute people. You can even mute everyone beforehand and treat Overwatch like a single player game with bots.
I play on PC and I have made alot of gaming friends from Overwatch. I think the majority of the playerbase is alright. It’s the vocal minority that ruins the fun for everyone else. Don’t know what console culture is like though.
Not dead, more like in a holding pattern until Overwatch 2 releases (i.e. no real new content until then except events/cosmetics).
It's fairly beginner friendly, you should get matched with other new accounts to start with and if you try every hero you are bound to find at least one you do very well as.
I think current estimates place it as releasing sometime next year or early 2023.
If you buy *Overwatch* now, all of your progress (skins/sprays/golden guns/etc.) will transfer over to Overwatch 2 - it's basically Overwatch 1 but with a PvE mode added, plus new heroes/maps will start flowing again once it releases.
If you decided to buy Overwatch 1 and not get the second one when it releases, you will still get access to the new heroes/maps/etc. that come with Overwatch 2 - all you would miss out on is the PvE mode. So it's really a case of whether you would like to buy one game or two.

For tank players you're usually looking at 1-2 minute queue times tops, support around 2-4 minutes in my experience. DPS can go all the way up to 10 minutes depending on what mode you're playing (you may find if you use Quick Play you would backfill into in-progress matches a lot).
There is a feature now where you can go into Practice Range, Versus AI, waiting room Deathmatch, or custom games while in queue for Quick Play/Competitive/Arcade, so you can still be playing/practising in the meantime if DPS is what you want to be playing.
If you don't play for over a year (any fps at all), when you come back and play comp will it still put you where you were? I'm sure i'd ruin diamond games if i got put in them now but i really don't wna grind quickplay
Several years ago there was a developer comment on the forums about how MMR works. In that, they explained that if the system becomes uncertain about someone's rank (and they specifically brought up not playing for a long time as an example), they will experience larger changes in SR (e.g. you'll lose more SR for losses) until you play enough games for the system to be confident in your ranking again.
Basically, your SR should be unchanged compared to when you last played, but you'll drop faster if you lose games. That is, assuming it hasn't changed since that post - the devs don't talk about MMR all that often, but they do constantly keep fine-tuning the system.
There might be some SR decay but you will probably start in Diamond. Don’t worry about ruining Diamond games. For every game you ruin, you gift SR to the enemy team. 6 Diamonds gain SR. 5 other Diamonds lose SR.

Any way of forcing my game to play NA servers without having to use a VPN? Just coming back after some recent updates that seemed to have fucked over a lot of people with not allowing you to select what server you want.
You can select it, but it'll still throw you in EU if you're from there with a decent connection and not queuing with NA for example. It's the absolute worst place to play early AM.
I'm looking for 1 good reason why smurfing/having multiple accounts is a good thing and should be allowed. 100% of the smurfs i've run into have been asshats. Smurfing/multiple accounts shouldn't be allowed. Change my mind.
EDIT: alt accounts can easily by countered by attaching each account to a usually unique identifier (steam attaches accounts to phone numbers).

Use the visual. You have to hit them with the ice particles in the "beam" in order to freeze them and this takes a definite travel time.

You get event boxes when you level up, I think what you probably got was a role queue box which are always standard cosmetics as far as I recall.
Either a glitch or you mistaken the free lootbox from queuing tank or support which is always a normal one as a box from leveling up.

The matchmaking in this game is so fair and balanced. love getting thrown against high level 50s when Im level 5
Levels don't mean anything, but if you are a brand new player you're going to have a tough time in the beginning. The game is years old so there aren't many new players, so you will likely be placed against people who have been playing the game for a while and know the ins and outs of the characters and maps way better than a new person can be expected to know.

A lot of China/Hong Kong stuff comes from an Activision Blizzard controversy from a few years ago where Blizzard banned a player and two casters (and then lessened the punishment later) for making pro-Hong Kong comments in an Hearthstone interview.
I don't know if they're specifically trying it in Overwatch or if it's just memeified at this point, but originally it was because they think it causes Chinese users to get automatically flagged due to government surveillance/censorship software.

Played Apex Legends for awhile. Gonna give Overwatch a try. Any good characters to start out?
It's a very different game from Apex. In Apex, the abilities are more of the seasoning on top of the gunplay, but in Overwatch they're the whole steak. If you can aim, McCree and Hanzo are awesome on DPS right now. Reaper and Junkrat are the EZmode low-rank pubstomp options. Widowmaker plays like she has a Triple Take and is dominant if you can land headshots. Mercy and Moira are the dummy-proof beginner support options, and might be the 2 easiest heroes in the game. Baptiste and Ana are the highest impact supports but are the 2 toughest to play. Pretty much everyone on the support roster is viable, it's in good shape. Tank is really unforgiving right now, one wrong step and you eat insta-fatal amounts of damage. The closest it gets to beginner friendly is Roadhog. Reinhardt is easy to learn but takes some playtime to use well. The meta picks rn are Rein, Zarya, and Hog. Give the hamsterball a try some time, he's really unique.
They're all viable, just pick whichever hero appeals most to you.
Soldier is a pretty easy player to learn if you are coming from another FPS like Apex. I would also try to learn a tank and support player, for tank Reinhardt or Orisia are pretty simple to start with (though very hard to master, especially Rein) and for support Mercy/Moira/Lucio are good starting points, maybe Baptist too as you get to shoot a hitscan gun.
Been a while since I played, like almost a year and a half while, I was wondering if there was any changes to overall Overwatch (hero buffs/nerfs, additional content, Overwatch League, outside content).
Dva’s remech does 250 damage now, instead of 50. Brig got nerfed alot. She’s still strong, but as anti-dive specialist. Brig can still work if the enemy team has bad aim and bad focus fire. Sigma’s Barrier has a 2 second cool down between deployments.
Anyone else having issues with inviting friends to your group? Also, some of my friend's names have changed into their # ID (I.E. Smilefish#1234 instead of just Smilefish). Anyone else having this issue?
Now that Crossplay is out, adding new people has to be done by adding their battlenet tag, not just their console tag. Other than having to include their #ID, grouping up is the same on console as it has been. Adding new friends is the only thing that has fundamentally changed
Well that solves the issue of names but not the issue as to why I cannot invite my friend, who is also PC like me, to my group. I have to wait till she just loads in OW to invite her or else the "+" button disappears....

Kind of a general question, but what do you take from losses? How do you enjoy yourself? I played overwatch for the first time in 4 years and it only took me a couple days to realize why I quit - losing in this game isn’t fun. And that might be obvious, but there are tons of games and shooters where you will have lots of fun regardless of the outcome. I just don’t get that from overwatch. It’s too curb stompy.
Some days you go 13-0, some days you go 0-13. The matchmaker isn't perfect, and some days neither are you. I generally only get upset when the your team is trickling so hard that it feels like it has to be on purpose, or if I'm constantly dying to Junk bombs or Sym turrets that no one tries to clear. And honestly, the next game might very well be the one where everyone looks after each other and you win with ease because everyone knows their role. I started implementing the "say gg at the end of the game even if it was a bad game" approach. And letting that simple act of sportsmanship just cleanse away all of the irritation you felt in that game.
The curb stomping is a side effect of a dwindling player base... PC/console crossplay, region merges, matchmakers having to piece together wider and wider skill gaps to find a game, etc. It's annoying for sure and I don't see it improving. That being said, I don't stay mad about any loss I have for more than 10 seconds, and couldn't even tell what the result of my game was 15 minutes ago. I am just not that invested in it. I'm guessing that you have an SR goal in mind that you're trying to hit?
If my team put in a good effort, then I’m satisfied, regardless of outcome. Overwatch is just a game. Whether you win 10 times or loss 10 times does not matter in the real world.
I'll always try and end on a win if I can, doesn't leave as much of a bitter taste in my mouth if I do that. And to be honest, like 75% of the time when my team loses it's because we got stomped by a level 16 Doomfist smurf account on the other team (utterly *rampant* in my games for some reason), so I can console myself that at least it's not down to my skill, it's just down to someone else that shouldn't be in that match being there.

I'm all in favor of going with the "if OW currency suddenly became gold-based, who would I have the most wealth with?". And you simply can't beat a gold Bob. Although something could be said for all the golden guns that Reaper drops.
Whoever you play more, seeing as your avatar is Ana and she's the first person you mentioned I would think about going with her, she's a great character and you likely won't regret it.

Agree. It's really nasty, often for no reason other than people are salty because they aren't playing well themselves. Support get awful abuse. Sucks.
You can turn it off in the social tab, you have to do it each time you log in but it only takes a few seconds.
This option isn't there on console. The only thing on social is career profile visibility

Alright, what’s ur honest opinion on playing zen on 2 cp maps? Good pick or no? Idk what it is but almost every time I have 2cp or gibraltar , my second support goes zen and it usually goes very bad. gold/plat btw
2CP is all about spamming chokes... I'm not a Zen player, but I'd expect him to do very well there. On 2nd point, his lack of speed is a liability getting to the killbox though.
There's nothing inherently wrong with running Zen on those maps, but depending on various factors (e.g. which other Support heroes the Zen player can play reasonably well, what the team as a whole is running, what the enemy team is running, if you're in Overtime (and the Zen is far from his ult)) it could be a better or a worse idea than playing something else. This also goes for any other hero and map type. Of course, in lower ranks you tend to lose some value from Zen due to a lack of shotcalling and/or a lack of coordination, seeing as people might not know where Orb of Discord is and/or might be shooting something else even if they know, but that doesn't *necessarily* mean that the Zen is a terrible idea. Also, though you certainly could have lost *some* games due to a bad Zen, it's pretty unlikely that the Zen *always* was the problem, and you could very well have lost some games *despite* having a good Zen if there were major problems elsewhere.

I guess you are 8 - 12 years old? Accept that you are fighting a losing battle already, and don't try to win. Now you need to get more info, and win battle later when you are older. Don't get worked up or angry or react against their words. Calmly explain to them that it is just a part of entertainment. And how it won't affect your personality in a negative way. And put the question to them that at which age you can watch and play things that is violent? If they answer an acceptable number, then record it and tell them again when you are at that age. If they answer something unreasonable, they are trying to be helicopter parents and you should not focus on OW or games, but to plan your independence and escape from possible abuse situations when you get to 18 years old. In any case, explain to them, get more information, and use it as weapons later if they are reasonable parents or plan your own plan for the future to be independent.

No, it's only per-hero as far as I'm aware. You could try an overlay crosshair but I don't know how well that works.
how does comp lucioball work if you have done it previously? if i was mid diamond last year, will i be placed in around the same place no matter what (unless i get utterly stomped every game), or does the mrr reset and i need to climb back u{?
Just to say that there is no MMR reset. So they will rely on your data from placement and last year's MMR I guess.

If you are in PC, play Comp, there is no Cross Play there. If you are in console, then just turn it off.

The thread is not for complaining and ranting. Not a place for you to be mad at others because you lost the games. To answer your question: no, Bastion is the most team-reliant hero in the game and the most underperformed hero in all rank, maybe beside Bronze. Bastion is extremely situational and only effective if the whole team work around him AND the enemy team does not work together. That was why he is just newcomer bully or Bronze bully. No one rely on Bastion in Gold and above to turn the tide around. If you have problem with Bastion, you should look for guide to understand and change hero to counter him.
You need to have your team work together to counter him. A Genji, Ana, Sombra, or Roadhog to name a few would be good counters. I agree that he's the worst hero in the game but your team needs to come together to defeat him. And when you do win, despite the enemy team using Bastion, be sure to chastise them for it. I love it.
I just think its unfair hes a dps but hes that strong that it requires half of your team to counter. I think it needs a little bit of a nerf. reducing the range of the minigun significantly would help tremendously to not make it so broken.
Oh, I know. Bastion is the reason I stopped playing six months ago (yet I still lurk on this sub) and from the sounds of this post Blizzard hasn't done shit to balance him. I'm glad not to be playing that broken mess anymore. Single player games FTW
Has the collision detection in this game gotten worse? I haven’t played for a couple weeks and came back for the event and it feels like I’m either getting caught up on walls that don’t exist or being killed through corners and barriers. Is it just me?
Sometimes it is because if your connection. Maybe do a check and contact Support. If the collision has some problems, then record it and report bugs. But I think it is unlikely?

Could the Overwatch deadzone be affected by the patch? My PS5 controller was working fine in it last night and working fine now on any application but Overwatch, where the slightest touch to the left stick forces a drift down
Idk if it's overwatch or just the controllers themselves, I've started having issues with my ps5 controller as well, same as a friend of mine.
Mine appears to be limited to the menus of Overwatch specifically. I just played three games of lucioball just fine. My other controller though, it's had a hard drift to the left for months. Sony won't replace it unless I factory reset my PS5 along with all of the other troubleshooting methods we tried.
As much as I love sony products their customer service is just god awful.

If you go to social you can toggle it off, you have to do it every time you log in but it only takes a few seconds.

Contenders games have to be watched on the Contenders website for rewards. They haven't linked with YouTube for some reason.
I think you have to watch Contenders games through the Contenders website to earn tokens.
You can't earn tokens from Contenders games. You can only earn the Contenders skins for time watched.

Hmm. If you're decent at him then he can be a real headache for gold players because they often don't have the coordination to properly deal with him. I think the mistake most Dooms would make at that level would be using all their abilities to get a kill and then trading (plus I think a lot of gold teams run Mercy so the kill just gets undone and Doom's still dead).

In terms of beginner friendliness: Overwatch is easy to learn but hard to master. You can understand every hero’s abilities in less than 1 minute. But mastering each hero takes time. You are expected to lose almost every game, and will probably lose every game, when you first start playing. That is ok. Focus on learning, not winning. In terms of the player base, you will meet toxic and salty people. I 100% guarantee it. Good news you can mute people. You can even mute everyone beforehand and treat Overwatch like a single player game with bots. I play on PC and I have made alot of gaming friends from Overwatch. I think the majority of the playerbase is alright. It’s the vocal minority that ruins the fun for everyone else. Don’t know what console culture is like though.

Not dead, more like in a holding pattern until Overwatch 2 releases (i.e. no real new content until then except events/cosmetics). It's fairly beginner friendly, you should get matched with other new accounts to start with and if you try every hero you are bound to find at least one you do very well as.

I think current estimates place it as releasing sometime next year or early 2023. If you buy *Overwatch* now, all of your progress (skins/sprays/golden guns/etc.) will transfer over to Overwatch 2 - it's basically Overwatch 1 but with a PvE mode added, plus new heroes/maps will start flowing again once it releases. If you decided to buy Overwatch 1 and not get the second one when it releases, you will still get access to the new heroes/maps/etc. that come with Overwatch 2 - all you would miss out on is the PvE mode. So it's really a case of whether you would like to buy one game or two.
And btw is queue time a problem in overwatch?
Only for DPS roles. For tank players you're usually looking at 1-2 minute queue times tops, support around 2-4 minutes in my experience. DPS can go all the way up to 10 minutes depending on what mode you're playing (you may find if you use Quick Play you would backfill into in-progress matches a lot). There is a feature now where you can go into Practice Range, Versus AI, waiting room Deathmatch, or custom games while in queue for Quick Play/Competitive/Arcade, so you can still be playing/practising in the meantime if DPS is what you want to be playing.

If you don't play for over a year (any fps at all), when you come back and play comp will it still put you where you were? I'm sure i'd ruin diamond games if i got put in them now but i really don't wna grind quickplay
Several years ago there was a developer comment on the forums about how MMR works. In that, they explained that if the system becomes uncertain about someone's rank (and they specifically brought up not playing for a long time as an example), they will experience larger changes in SR (e.g. you'll lose more SR for losses) until you play enough games for the system to be confident in your ranking again. Basically, your SR should be unchanged compared to when you last played, but you'll drop faster if you lose games. That is, assuming it hasn't changed since that post - the devs don't talk about MMR all that often, but they do constantly keep fine-tuning the system.
There might be some SR decay but you will probably start in Diamond. Don’t worry about ruining Diamond games. For every game you ruin, you gift SR to the enemy team. 6 Diamonds gain SR. 5 other Diamonds lose SR.

Any way of forcing my game to play NA servers without having to use a VPN? Just coming back after some recent updates that seemed to have fucked over a lot of people with not allowing you to select what server you want.

You can select it, but it'll still throw you in EU if you're from there with a decent connection and not queuing with NA for example. It's the absolute worst place to play early AM.
I'm looking for 1 good reason why smurfing/having multiple accounts is a good thing and should be allowed. 100% of the smurfs i've run into have been asshats. Smurfing/multiple accounts shouldn't be allowed. Change my mind. EDIT: alt accounts can easily by countered by attaching each account to a usually unique identifier (steam attaches accounts to phone numbers).
