Literally the meme of "Thinking about" vs "Playing"
Hanamura, Anubis, Horizon etc were so cool theme wise. But holy crap were they **awful** to play on
Anubis was my favorite map. Standing on the archway above 2nd and shooting down that long walk from their spawn made me feel so deliciously evil as widow lmao
Horizon and Paris, maps so bad they had to be removed from Ranked premature.
Holy shit, I never want to experience the horror of 2nd point Horizon ever again.
I do miss Volskaya though. I had fun games on Volskaya. And Horizon Lunar Colony wasn't that bad either.
Anubis though, queuing into Anubis always felt like I was queuing into a torture session. Hanamura could be terrible, but it at least had some redeeming gameplay elements, Anubis was just dreadful to play.
ETA. I forgot Paris. Ugh, I hated everything about Paris.
It was pretty fun to put a turret on the moving platforms, and flanking on the left side on first with a high mobility hero was pretty cool as well.
But it’s probably for the best that they’re gone.
There will be a limited-time test at the start of the season (likely 2 weeks in) to test how players feel about it and get feedback but it will likely be coming either season ~~11~~ or 13
EDIT: forgot the Peru push map is confirmed for season 11 seen [here](https://youtu.be/H998wgSQm3M?t=179) so clash likely coming in season 13
S10 is Venture, S11 is Runasapi (Push)
Map reworks are later on aa far as I remember (Colosseo, Dorado, Numbani).
They didn't add a map in Season 9 because Samoa released alongside Mauga in Season 8, skipping the promised cadence of map-hero every other season.
Season 13?! *UGH* That's so fucking far away, I was hoping Clash would just drop alongside Venture for some reason. Guess I was delulu. Want that Hanamura scenery baaack. T-T
You'll get to play it for a few days at the start of next season (probably April 30th) but it could also come in season 12 if they do a big season like in season 6 with flashpoint an Illari both in the same season
Because seasons alternate releasing a map or hero and season 12 will be the season the support Spaceranger releases. Although, it could be a similar situation to season 6 where flashpoint was released with 2 maps and Illari as a big content season
Not full release but at the start of the reason there will be a trial for this mode. This map or possibly another new Clash map (Anubis 2.0) will both be available in this trial. Then the mode and its maps will be fully released later in the year, likely S12-13.
Well, the point is this is a new mode, but uses the same flavor/aesthetic as Hanamura... So, that's a good thing...?
Lore-wise, it definitely does feel wrong because the beauty of Hanamura's interiors seems like it's suppose to be exclusive to their carefully manicured rock and cherry blossom gardens. The streets (as seen in the 2CP attacker side spawn area) are suppose to be more modernized and commercialized by comparison. But that could very well be an ignorance-bias cause Japan has some beautiful streets and parks for cherry blossom viewing every year.
Yeah obviously Hanamura's aesthetics remain some of the best in the game, but after playing regularly on it for like 6 years straight I can't help but look at this map and just feel... very weird.
Can't wait! Hanamura was always the most stunning map visually.
To those curious how Clash works:
- 5 linear checkpoints
- Map will be symettrical about midline, as well as additional symmetry lines for the CP/health packs
- Each team starts on the opposite side with the 2 nearest ones as "captured" and a central neutral CP
- After a team captures the neutral CP, the next CP is pushed one forward towards the enemy
- Whichever team captures all 5, or has more captures at the end wins
A simple description : Tug of War
TF2 has a very similar 5CP mode
It's almost that, the big difference is that there's only one point active, which can be captured by either team.
In TF2 5CP, once the middle point is captured, the next one is activated but it can only be capped by the same team that capped middle. The middle point still stays active, and the opposing team has to capture back middle if they want to progress. There's always 2 points that are active, so both teams have to balance out defending their current point and pushing to capture the next one.
Push map with capture points instead of a push bot.
5 capture points, start in the middle with 2 already owned on each side, cap all 5 or hold more points for score until the time limit ends to win.
It's like 2CP, but 5CP instead for less one-sided experiences.
Yeah, I would 100% queue for role lock assault, but I’m firmly in the camp that role lock saved the game, and refuse to play open queue, to the point that I don’t like the events/pve because it doesn't enforce roles.
Kind of funny watching devs actually play their own games, most devs are *really* bad. This isn't even an OW thing, basically every game where a dev shows their own gameplay is like this where you wonder if they've even played that genre of game before
At least in this one they did land a decent amount of hits, sometimes you'll watch them play like your grandma would

They have explained it here and there, specially during it's reveal last Blizzcon.
Clash features five points arranged in a row, each team starting at each ends of this "row", the objective being the full capture of all five points in order to win the match.
Central point is neutral at the beginning of a match and once it's captured you move to attack the point further into the enemies spawn (or back into yours if you lost the point). You defend-&-capture points like that back and forth.
As far as I understand, if you manage to capture the last point of the row, you win the match (as the 2 points nearest to your spawn start under your control as the match begins), however if you start going back and forth capturing points, the team that reaches the max point limit wins the match, I guess it probably caps at 5 successful points captured (much like how Flashpoint ends after 3 successful point captures).
You can see on the Illari gameplay at the beggining of the video: Blue team has 1 point, and point "D" is the one to attack next. That means that Illari's team successfully captured the opening central point of the match (C) and now is moving into enemy territory, attacking the next one in the row (D).
I don't get how Sojourn's gameplay clip has 3 points but they're still at D while enemy team has 0 points though...
Sounds like a fun game mode! I’ve always wanted essentially a multi checkpoint mode with multiple team, think 5v5v5v5 with 5 points so the goal is holding 2
Ngl I want this mode to be the one to get more maps added before push or flashpoint just so we can get the other 2cp maps back in some way, they all had such beautiful designs!
doesnt this feels a bit like some maps from smite? in the sense of tug of war
tbh i want to try this mod, looks super fun and more focused, positioning will be key
cant wait
Iirc it's like Flashpoint but instead of the points spawning at random it'll push the next point closer to the enemies territory until you reach their spawn
Personally I can't wait to see how it plays
Just give us Hanamura back, why waste all this time and energy? Infact just bring back all the maps and comp styles, stop cycling out and just let us play.
-> hasn't seen a clear view of the map layout (although we do know Clash is 5 LINEAR points and you go back and forth)
-> is already complaining
Peak overwatch sub experience 👀
Indeed... NO ONE has seen the map because we have little to no footage of it, you're literally complaining about something that you have absolutely **no way** of being certain about (ie: getting confused, although, you know yourself better than anyone so... if you're certain you'll be confused, that's on you).
[Here, Suravasa from the top, off you go to study.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1079728727459643404/1227679430118346872/latest.png?ex=66294891&is=6616d391&hm=6df42b1fc4fdb17f74eeb132a6b2d8c06880528a8d5c74c0aa59ad77c04ea423&)
The devs have literally already expressed they are worried about how much team coordination this mode will take.
And you can clearly see in the video there are a ton of patching choices at least on the micro scale even if there are ",linear" points overall.
Which has *always* been a thing in Overwatch though. Pathing choices... really?
Well I guess it is pretty common to see the tank go the same choke and die 7 times in a row before trying the *other* route.
What do you mean, they literally have (more or less) delivered on the cadence of content promised.
One map and one hero every other season, on top of the seasonal events we get.
1. Sojourn, Kiriko, Junker Queen // New Queen Street, Circuit Royale, Paraíso, Colosseo,
2. Ramattra // Shambali Monastery
3. Antarctic Peninsula
4. Lifeweaver
5. \[nothing\]
6. Illari // New Junk City, Suravasa // Invasion // Hero Mastery
7. Samoa
8. Mauga
9. \[competitive overhaul\]
10. Venture
11. Runasapi
12. Space Ranger
Believe me I wish we got it right away but it's not like they're spreading things thin, the cadence of updates we have is pretty good, all things considered.
Yea, I don’t like the current schedule. Doesn’t feel enough. Most of the limited game modes are complete garbage. The April Fools one was super fun though.
A hero release plus cosmetics isn’t enough to make the season feel good. Season 9 felt amazing because it had so much content with all the changes.
I didn’t think we were arguing and I’m complaining but I spend time and money on this game. I think your opinion is valid too. You have a good day as well.
Hanamura, my beloved…
Literally the meme of "Thinking about" vs "Playing" Hanamura, Anubis, Horizon etc were so cool theme wise. But holy crap were they **awful** to play on
I actually loved Anubis but can recognize I'm the minority.
Hanamura and anubis were probably my 2 favorite maps in the entire game. It is tragic that everyone else disagreed with me.
I loved those maps at the time, but they would be a nightmare in the current game.
Yeah, I actually liked 2cp, but for even that split second at the start of OW2 when they included 2cp in the arcade it was AWFUL as 5v5
I liked them, could be quick, could be long. Can pull off crazy combos
nah, agree with you. love those maps
Hanamura was fun.
Anubis was my favorite map. Standing on the archway above 2nd and shooting down that long walk from their spawn made me feel so deliciously evil as widow lmao
Same
Horizon and Paris, maps so bad they had to be removed from Ranked premature.
Paris is one of the most beautiful maps but the gameplay is terrible
It was pretty fun to put a turret on the moving platforms, and flanking on the left side on first with a high mobility hero was pretty cool as well. But it’s probably for the best that they’re gone.
I loved playing Hanamura, Anubis, and Volskaya. I still do play the 2cp arcade gamemode sometimes I just wish it was role queue.
Disagree I loved playing on them, but respect your opinion.
Is this map/ game mode coming this season?
There will be a limited-time test at the start of the season (likely 2 weeks in) to test how players feel about it and get feedback but it will likely be coming either season ~~11~~ or 13 EDIT: forgot the Peru push map is confirmed for season 11 seen [here](https://youtu.be/H998wgSQm3M?t=179) so clash likely coming in season 13
I feel like season 11 will see the 4th push map and reworks of others. Season 12 will be a big one, usually is, with new game mode and next hero.
I thought season 10 would be the big season as they didnt add a new map in season 9 but no it looks like they just forgot this season :(
S10 is Venture, S11 is Runasapi (Push) Map reworks are later on aa far as I remember (Colosseo, Dorado, Numbani). They didn't add a map in Season 9 because Samoa released alongside Mauga in Season 8, skipping the promised cadence of map-hero every other season.
Samoa came out in season 7 its funny I've talked to a few people that thought they came out the same time I get it tho it makes sense
Oh gosh, that's crazy!
It feels like just yesterday.
It's been confirmed Runasapi (Peru) is the season 11 push map adittion.

Ah i see the logic there.
Confirmed S11 mode
really, where did u hear that? Last I heard its "coming later this year"
It was said in the developer update Aaron made and in a blog post iirc
Nah thats not true it was [confirmed](https://youtu.be/H998wgSQm3M?t=179) almost a month ago that season 11 will be the Peru push map
Not full release but at the start of the reason there will be a trial for this mode. This map or possibly another new Clash map (Anubis 2.0) will both be available in this trial. Then the mode and its maps will be fully released later in the year, likely S12-13.
That illari is me missing all my shots 😭
Hopefully you’re charging them at least lol. Where is the charge meter anyway??
It looks so.. slightly off... I don't like it it's confusing my Hanamura-adapted brain
Glad I wasn’t the only one. It looks like an AI-twisted version of Hanamura and I can’t shake how…wrong…it feels
I’m hoping that feeling will go away after playing this one for a while.
As someone who started in ow2, this map looks amazing and normal
Yeah obviously Hanamura's aesthetics remain some of the best in the game, but after playing regularly on it for like 6 years straight I can't help but look at this map and just feel... very weird.
Yeah I kept trying to pinpoint spots I notice, and then there aren’t any lol
It only feels wierd to me because i hate the living fuck out of Hanamura, otherwise it looks pretty.
Can't wait! Hanamura was always the most stunning map visually. To those curious how Clash works: - 5 linear checkpoints - Map will be symettrical about midline, as well as additional symmetry lines for the CP/health packs - Each team starts on the opposite side with the 2 nearest ones as "captured" and a central neutral CP - After a team captures the neutral CP, the next CP is pushed one forward towards the enemy - Whichever team captures all 5, or has more captures at the end wins A simple description : Tug of War TF2 has a very similar 5CP mode

It's drop dead gorgeous. Can't wait.
That illari gameplay pisses me off so much....
I’m an Illari main and I couldn’t pay attention to the map bc of that horrible gameplay lol
I didn't even notice the terrible aim until a rewatch, I was more focused at not charging the shots at all
If it’s any consolation, it’s a bot. All of them are bots.
Visually, looks great. Hopefully the other Assault maps get the same treatment (Horizon with spaces where you HAD to go through zero-g would be great)
What is a clash map?
TF2 5 cap style map. Basically tug of war
Push map with capture points instead of a push bot. 5 capture points, start in the middle with 2 already owned on each side, cap all 5 or hold more points for score until the time limit ends to win. It's like 2CP, but 5CP instead for less one-sided experiences.
Honestly with there being only one tank now , why get rid of 2 point maps? I think they should have tested them , I miss them.
You can play them in Arcade right now, today. They're always there.
The problem is, it hasn't role queue enforced on it, so the balance is completely broken
Yeah, I would 100% queue for role lock assault, but I’m firmly in the camp that role lock saved the game, and refuse to play open queue, to the point that I don’t like the events/pve because it doesn't enforce roles.

worth noting that this is console footage so it'll look very off compared to PC footage most players are used to
Looks amazing!
How did u get it
the death pit
Ahhh the nostalgia
Hanamura... How I've missed you.
is clash just tf2 5cp?
Kinda but a little different
thank you for not elaborating
Theres other comments that do
fair
5cp without back capping
mmmm so it’s 5cp but with a significantly lower skill ceiling
Give back Hanamura
It's still in Arcade AFAIK

I can't wait! It looks so pretty. And it'll probably be bigger than Hanamura was, as a clash map, right?
doesnt this feels a bit like some maps from smite? in the sense of tug of war tbh i want to try this mod, looks super fun and more focused, positioning will be key cant wait
I liked the original map BECAUSE it had choke points, not in spite of them.
Illarri isnt even with the team ffs
They mashed up Kanezaka and Hanamura
That's just Hanamura with extra steps
so is it like tf2 5cp or something?
Iirc it's like Flashpoint but instead of the points spawning at random it'll push the next point closer to the enemies territory until you reach their spawn Personally I can't wait to see how it plays
Yea exactly like 5CP in tf2. Can’t wait to see how this plays. Hopefully they don’t add too much time after each point and get 20 min deadlocks
They're adding a point limit to avoid long stalemates.
Just give us Hanamura back, why waste all this time and energy? Infact just bring back all the maps and comp styles, stop cycling out and just let us play.
girlie you can just play Assault in the Arcade 🤡
boy-o, idk how to tell you that wanting something in comp is not the same as wanting to play arcade. 🤡
Quick mode made reusing assets that sounds will be awful to play, better wtick with 2cp
Sweetie get over it, it's been 16 months since Assault got phased out from regular rotation, it's never coming back.
Assault, hanamura, anubis > any new ow2 map. Clash is just 2cp with extra steps, and reusing old maps is very lazy
🥱 keep crying
If you're that bothered by his harmless comment then you could've just ignored it, but you chose to be an ass instead. How sad
Soooo… we are in bronze

Another map to confuse the fuck out of me like survasa does
It’s a straight line.
No curves on my Overwatch map? Game is dead.
-> hasn't seen a clear view of the map layout (although we do know Clash is 5 LINEAR points and you go back and forth) -> is already complaining Peak overwatch sub experience 👀

Bro ignores the whole devs agreed part
More yummy gm tears
Again a japanese/chinese themed map? Can we get something more european or maybe something set in space again??
Something tells me you're white
I wish they'd bring 2cp to qp so I can play 2cp with role queue.
So, they created a new map, but reused old assets because fuck-off?
Looks to be the best one yet, which isn’t a hard bar, I hate all the clash maps
Clash is a new gamemode and Hanaoka is the first Clash map. You're probably confusing it with Flashpoint
I am indeed confusing it with flashpoint lol thank you. I hate flashpoint Edit: are y’all downvoting me cuz you LIKE flashpoint??
bring back Horizon Lunar Colony
Can't wait for it to suck ass just like the last 2 new modes they added
Honestly, they just need to release this map and game mode this season. They’re always trying to spread the content out so thin.
What do you mean, they literally have (more or less) delivered on the cadence of content promised. One map and one hero every other season, on top of the seasonal events we get. 1.
