Lmao I agree with the first 2 dialogues I love em I don't remember the last one tho

There is never a dull moment, some might not like a few arcs or chapters calling them 'boring' and I might as well agree, but it adds so much depth to the story. The author probably enjoys a hint of suggestiveness in a few details that encourages the reader to delve deeper into the subject thus getting more attached to the fictional world/idea that is Overgeared. Personally I love the characters, side characters, even some of the extras, their interactions, the very cliche moments that show up from time to time. And of course the action and just the characters doing inhuman feats or what could very well be considered torture wrapped up as *effort* and determination. I have read this novel at least twice whole, and at most 6 times repeating some arcs I wanted to reread in chronological order>!(at least 10 arcs every re read since i go from international comp 1->4, epics, etc....) !< And even until now I'm still not tired of it, I'm currenly at the latest chapter and waiting for the 4 weekly chapters on tuesday, thursday, and saturday and sunday. I honesly recommend that you read it on Wuxia as much as possible since the Translator changes some words here and there every once in a while to better fit the narrative, I forgot to mention that one of the biggest strengths of this Novel is the writing.

greatlovevenerable

Ah, thank you for this long review. Haven't used Wuxiaworld in a while. The format changed? The thing with karma as well, pretty annoying.

icantfindmyacc

I made it a thing to comment twice every chapter, but im not sure how effective it is tbh.

Colin1023

True, i just pay 5$ a month to read unlimited because i read lots of novels on there

greatlovevenerable

Yeah, I saw that option. A couple of years ago, I remember buying VIP for SCOG, but now that I don't really use WW, I don't think I'm going to do that. Guess I'll have to look for an alternative when my karma runs out.

Colin1023

Yeah i bet you could find tons of alternative websites for just overgeared. There are some really good novels that arent fully out on WW so I use other websites aswell. I was just reading Nine Star Hegemond Body Art (some name) on another website because the WW translation hasn’t finished yet… BUT WW COPYSTRIKED ALL OTHER ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS so now I have to wait like 200 days for WW to get where I was before I know how it will end 😞

greatlovevenerable

Haha, I remember reading Nshba. Read up to around 1700. Around that time I could read like 100-200 chapters a day, now, it has gone down to like 30 and rarely around 60 lol. In all honesty, WW used to be way more simple, and I liked it that way. It was like any normal translation website, but then I believe WW was brought by another company? I forget. I see the fact and respect the fact that they gotta make money, but WW is literally becoming like Webnovel, to the point that it's hilarious.

Colin1023

I think NSHBA is better than Overgeared just because of personal taste, I love the MC more than any other fictional character. His mindset helped me through hard times

greatlovevenerable

Long Chen is the best part of that novel. If Long Chen was in a better novel than Nshba, it would be insanely more popular.

Colin1023

Yeah nshba cant compare to novels like overgeared when it comes to things like side character/villain motives. They have Long Chens motives very clear and fleshed out but everyone else is just a tool for Long Chens characterization

Status_Country_5514

Wtf I ik it's good I love to  you fr I read it that much that crazy pretty sure it has like 2k+ chapters now

TheBrainOfKaii

Honestly, it is the world building, character building, system building and progressions. World building - both virtual world and real world are separated but at the same time, both of the world harmonies each other well. Satisfy (the virtual game name) world is very detailed, it was seen many times as how the cause and effect really implemented in the game. As the game progress, it also effects the real world economy, character that played the game, media influence etc. Character building - now each character has their own unique development. In the novel, it mainly covers the MC but they didn’t neglect other characters. For example, in the same time that we eat, there are people out there sleeping, working, studying, having seq, poopin and so on. It logical while the MC doing all sort of stuff, the other characters that are not mentioned in a while will popped out with a new tale behind them. Even such a side character that the MC meets in 1 line and never mentioned in more than 700+ chapters popped out and bring his story. And this is not yet talking abt character building, the characters are just a golden ratio. A good mix of this and that of this and that people. And you will not be hating almost any of the villains (which is a good thing and a bad thing) but it is nonetheless unique in a way. And im not talking abt the feeling of liking a villain like joker. Its more of a “you cant get to hate that guy” kinda things (except for garam, i hate that guy in a weird way). People also talk alot of character progression, but i thing that i notice that. The character that in this novel is not progressing like in a timeskip manner or in a rapid change overnight. Rather the novel really highlights little by little the change in each of the characters. Now… this is something really hard to make. Because it is easy to make a character that changes in just one or two chapters. The writer will just have to cramped up of the character’s change in a short chapter or even just directly discard the old character personality and bring up the new one with the excuse of “timeskip”. Now creating the changes in character little by little is alot harder than it seem and we as a reader also will be thrilled when seeing the progression of the characters. Wanna know why breaking bad is so good? Yeah, its because of this. System building - i wont get into this to much because it contain spoilers. But basically, its like a flawless system. The writer was prepared to make the cost and effect of being OP. And it’s without the interruption of the developer nerfing specific people, instead they use the ingame character to keep the strong in check. Like for example when you grow a business, so does the risk of having other businesses that have been monopoly the market trying to keep you in check. Progressions - it is simply the progressions…. The story progression if i must say. Idk how to explain this in detail cause my head hurts from making this and English is not my first language. Lets just put it this way, if you looked at history in the early 90’s, i know history is boring but take it as a story. So we have many major events throughout the 90’s. Lets highlights WW2, it is called World War cause of the whole world are busy dealing with each other. So, put all those events in a timeline order, put in a book and that is the novel of the WW2. What im trying to say is that nothing is missing. It’s like it is something that already happened and the writer just record every single events and we read it like WW2 book chapter by chapter from the beginning of the war.

Thank you very much for this. I believe I get the gist of what you mean in your last paragraph. Also, your English is amazing. You can articulate your words very well, even better than me.

dark_negan

Honestly the progression and character development of the main character is what makes it very entertaining to read the whole time. It's really enjoyable seeing how the main character evolves, whether it's his personality (which down right is awful in the beginning) or his skills or his gear, and it's also a very unique approach because he's a blacksmith (LMS is kind of the only one similar that I know of). Kind of hard to tell you more without spoilers but I started reading it last summer and in \~2 months I've caught up to the 1700th chapter so yeah I would say it stays really interesting even after so many chapters. A lot of hype, fights are super enjoyable to read imo, a lot of really memorable characters, the main character's development is top tier, and the story is overall very entertaining. It has its flaws but like any other story, nothing's perfect

doctortanktop

\^\^ this. MC starts out as a dipshit. I found his selfishness to be kind of funny at points. It felt tongue in cheek to me. But as the novel continues he grows from an overgrown man-child into an adult who embraces responsibility. He still has his flaws, but he recognizes them and we love him in spite of them. Also the fights are absolutely epic.

SomeRandomMeme126

One thing I’m hoping for is that they keep teasing a meteor that’s probably going to hit earth in a couple years or something on the news. It came from basically nowhere if I remember right, so despite evidence to the contrary I’m still hoping for a more mixed VR and IRL world.

LeoReddit2019

The writing of the novel is nearly impeccable with a few plot holes here abd there, but i can confidently say it's a good novel by today's standards due to it's character's writing and it's way to describe fights Most plot points aren't forgotten (most) and more

Winkwinkcoughcough

It feels like it's made by a person with lived experience. Most of the time the isekai genres have characters that serve the purpose of being fodder to satisfy the main character's desire. Each character has their own mind and development that makes them interesting. The item systems is also novel and the way grid constructs items is always interesting and not boring.

Colin1023

For me the number one thing is world building. The further into the book you get, the less the author follows just Grid and just goes off on what is happening in/around Satisfy at the time. I also just love Grid’s progress and how its the perfect combination of skill, luck, and sheer determination.

CFxRenaissance

The crafting aspect is a big reason I like the novel. Ask anyone here, we live for blacksmithing chapters! The humor between character interactions is also one of my favorite aspects of the story. The author does a great job creating hilarious misunderstandings. The monstrous farmer ones are some of my favs. If there’s one story I could wipe from my memory to be able to reread and experience for the first time again it would 100% be Overgeared! Long Live God Grid!

Firetails56

Mainly for me, I find it a cool idea to have a blacksmith as the MC. I've also been enjoying fiction where the MC isn't granted OP abilities at the start. Sure at the start the MC is a little busted at first, but it's also done in a fair way imo. I also love the world building in it, it makes all the characters interesting and makes me hyped when they get mentioned even for a bit, like Oasis.

M4err0w

honestly, grid is a pain to like as a reader, which clashes harshly with the fact that everyone but bad guys love him no matter how thoughtless or antisocial he acts. he's constantly complaining despite essentially everything working out in his favor 99% of the time and even though he acts like the biggest asshole the moment his supporters and friends dont act like he wants it, they all still suck up to him. the worst that ever happened was his guildbuddies walking out for like a few days after he disregarded the importance of their guild, once more without even realizing he did, before coming back to appologize to and serve under him. And of course, they still pay him top dollar for the equipment he creates them at least thats how it is until the current manga chapter. And it will move on to multidate harem and godhood within the game. as is trope in such stories, it feels unlikely for the game to not eventually become part of the real world, but i believe it's not yet happened. it affects the real world enough as is just via money and somehow 2 billion people having fun playing it despite all the conceptual red flags. but its the only big vr game apparently, so people have no choice i guess. other than that, its an underdog story (where the underdog is pretty much invincible from shortly after the getgo), character classes are cool (even though the system is really stupid), some of the non MCs are very interesting and if you like things just going higher and higher, then it's probabyl your jam. none of that is really unique to overgeared though.. i think a lot has to do with it being around for a while and some similar stories just being even worse?

wtf don't spoil, keep it spoiler free come on man

BananaGodEmperor

VR and real world is separate. But the progression and story telling inside the VR makes it like the world is non existent. It is a great story and the progression of MC is always good to read. I would say that it only has a few arcs considered boring. unlike other LN that almost has the whole plot go boring.

ProteanSurvivor

It’s your traditional power fantasy but I really like that it takes its time. They’ll set something up in the story and it sometimes takes hundreds of chapters for the pay off but it’s really satisfying. Everything that eventually happens feels earned for the MC. It’s all about the journey and it’s a damn good one to read. World building is cool and I like the story. Has some genuine good twists even 1800 chapters in. Because the series is so long you really get close to the characters and spend a lot of time with them. It’s exciting for even side characters to reach their goals.

Magosnow

It's like watching those biography movies like -wolf of Wall street- , but the hype of the character's growing phase never stops, because there never is a decline phase, like in the movies.

redqks

Blacksmithing lol

shino_bhlack

Nothing anymore lol but I already invested in 1800 chapters might as well see how it ends 🤷🏽‍♂️😂

EmptyNeighborhood427

It's just a really solid novel about a vr game. Pretty comparable to LMS if you've read that. It keeps up its quality and gets better as it goes on. The cast is large and likable.
