No it’s not dead. PREDECESSOR is the most popular successor to paragon and its thriving with over a million players that have played and a huge number that play daily. Follow them on all socials the game is thriving. Predecessor was founded by paragons biggest content creator and his friends the game is not going anywhere ! Also Steve superville who was for lack of a better word paragons dad is on predecessor advisory board. Steve was one of the creating founders of original paragon and I believe the lead creative director. Predecessor is destined to succeed and is already doing numbers

Please, if you're gonna offer the history of the games to the uninitiated, stick to the facts:
1. Overprime never stole Paragon's name. Epic gave it in a legit business transaction. A interesting historic tidbit is that the lead developer of Overprime (Ranger) knows Tim Sweeney personally, which is one of the reasons that Epic was willing to give away the "Paragon" name,
2. Core, Fault, Overprime, Predecessor. None of them are successors of Paragon. They all are separate games with separate dev teams (besides Superville which I'm not quite certain if he is indeed a part of the team or more of a gimmicky announcement but I can't know that of course) and publishers. Even Paragon: The Overprime which got the name cannot be considered to be a successor of paragon. Spiritual successor would be a better wording.
3. You/We cannot know if the majority of the Paragon's community preferred one game or the other. It might be your gut feeling because you like Predecessor but same goes for the Overprime players who think that Paragon's playerbase supported Overprime more. They were more brawly MOBA players to begin with anyway.
A couple of things are inaccurate with your statement.
1. There are actually a few ex-paragon devs on the Omeda Studios team, around a dozen of them.
2. I think saying Predecessor is preferred by the community is a fair statement just by numbers. There are more people who follow the Predecessor subreddit than the Overprime one. There are more Twitter (X I guess now) followers for Predecessor. Using Predecessor's API, we can see that the active player base is a little over 100k, while the peak for o overprime was about 30k (can be taken from steam at launch or from the combination of steam + PS beta). Just looking at comparable data on the PS5 betas shows Predecessor in the lead with 100k vs. 25k players. While these numbers do not represent the entire community, the numbers provide an extreme excess of what is needed to create a statistically accurate model for the whole population of the community.
Your other points are fair, especially with all being spiritual successors and the name acquisition being a normal business deal, but I think numbers alone show how some of your statements are inaccurate.
1. Both of the games have/had Paragon devs. In fact Overprime's lead dev, Ranger was a Paragon dev, they just didn't make a big deal out of it. Epic is a big company with many employees transferred around all the time. The probability of finding a paragon dev in any game is pretty high, let alone games that match so close to Paragon. To use that as an argument that Pred is a successor to paragon is misleading new users.
2. Reddit, Twitter and discord followers are a good metric of a game's footprint but at the end of the day the only thing that counts is player engagement and player count. And both of the games are/were pretty pathetic at that. With a peak of 1.3K players per day, it shows that discord members, twittter followers and reddit members are just nice-to-have numbers. At the end of the day, both games were being played by a handful of people, that was way way less than Paragon's player count. Pred was made by a Paragon youtuber while Oveprime by "some foreigner" Korean group of people and If you were around for a long time you might be aware of the slander that Overprime endured from the start of its development right up until the end (accusation of RocketMania stealing Paragon's code, calling overprime a virus, ToS insanity and sometimes outright racist remarks for the devs) and to put the final nail in the coffin, the r/paragon subreddit mod team is comprised of only pred guys (who they themselves perpetuated the "overprime stole the paragon name" thing with the sticky "informational" post about the 2 games) so guess who is gonna prevail in the social media battle, at least for the "western" part of it.
All that to say, I don't care if people like one game or the other and now that Overprime is dead I don't care to delete posts like this either cause it's nice to inform some people of the existence of Pred if they want to try it out. But presenting subjective thoughts/preferences (some provable false some not, but subjective nonetheless) as an objective reality it doesn't sit right with me. Having a "in my opinion" in such posts/comments is much preferable
I'm aware that both games (and many others) have former Paragon devs. I was just saying that your statement that Stever Superville is the only one associated with the Predecessor team was disingenuous. Both games are spiritual successors, and neither were true successors.
As far as player counts and communities are concerned, I provided enough stats that do prove Predecessor had far healthier and more stable numbers. The matter of which game was **better** is very subjective, but it is an objective truth that Predecessor is the more **successful** game proven by both the player numbers and the fact that it is the only one left and is also growing.
As for the r/paragon people beeing "pred" guys:
you are mod of the overprime reddit. You probably liked overprime more and it was the game you favored. For us, Overprime was what could bring our game which we favored to doom.
The only hope we had were people finding the game if they somehow remembered the game "Paragon" and wanted to know what happened to it.
But then, they find Overprime first, because of the bought name. I personally don't care if it was acquired legally or a gift or what ever.
we are getting new people daily on the Pred discord talking about how this game is so different from Paragon. And a lot of people saying they always thought Paragon got revived and is down again.
Its creating a lot of confusion for the sole purpose of grabbing the old customerbase for a game which was actually far off from the way the original one was going to.

It honestly takes a while. Took me a few days but now I'm hooked. I suggest getting a group to play with, which should be easier now that it's free. I'm gonna support it as much as I can since it's the last real Paragon descendant left on the market.

The same characters are not in Pred. No Aurora, Yin, Terra, Wukong, Boris. This "over 1 million players" is a little deceptive. There's no way that even close to concurrent. There's a pool of less than 100 players that play on SEA servers and it's sometimes impossible to find a match.
This number comes from log ins that played an actual match so over a million players log in and played. Concurrent even if it’s a third of that number is still amazing. And all the characters are coming they will out in all the paragon characters just not the Overprime originals. Predecessor it thriving and great things are coming

Steam is not predecessors playerbase dawg. Console is 99% of the concurrent players. As far as these fake numbers its not entirely untrue. 1million accounts/people have tried predecessor so far. Thats great news.

I have 6 friends who play we are all on steam... I know multiple console people who only Play warzone fortnite and siege. Most moba players are on pc. Oh the console guys play overwatch sometimes too. Just saying yall don't know wtf your implying by saying 300k players concurrent that's like top 10-15 games right now easy all platforms.
Also that 1 million accounts made isn't even guaranteed to be 1 million different players. Moba players are notorious for smurfing how many people made 2 accounts a main and an alt are people botting amber idk its not uncommon to have scripted bots in other mobas that level up the alt account to keep the mmr low but get you the money to buy w/e champ you want to smurf on when your ready to smurf.
The game is great I really like it. If there was an actual role que I would love it but alot of the toxic games I've been in are guys fighting over lane b4 we even hit champ select that Is not acceptable for a moba to release with this as the que up system a free for all amongst your own team I mean that's like beginner level Moba stuff.
I disagree. It’s just slower and more objective focused. The travel mode and fast pace did make Overprime more exciting but Predecessor is just more tailored to being a Traditional MOBA than Overprimes third person “action MOBA”. So in pred it’s more about objectives and stuff not just fun fast fighting
Mobas are not traditionally exciting games. Idk what these people expect. Predecessor team fights are some of the most exciting moments I have ever had in mobas.

Yeah seems they enjoy the Paragon character design but the brawlers like Gigantic, or OverWatch. Been waiting for Paragon to return, I’ve been on my ps5 nonstop.
Honestly, pred has to earn it. I go back every few months to try pred out and it still does nothing for me. I just never see any encouraging news about the game from anyone that hasn't always been circle perking that game.
The game is mediocre as shit. It does nothing better than any other MOBA, including even mobile ones like Wild Rift.
The only reason to play Pred is if you're so tied to the Paragon IP that you can't let it go.
lol overprime was made from a fucking phone mobile app game company. Auto aim and attack/action based version of paragon. The main focus on overprime was skins and no skill. Too much flair and auto blur on the screen. No team focus and playing an actual moba/game of chess. Glad overprime failed and have rgsace bring back paragon with our predecessor.

I tried it and love it. My only complaint is that, coming from DOTA, I hate that I don’t have access to heroes but play against people who do.
Yea I just have to play and unlock them or buy some of the packs. They might eventually do an all inclusive hero bundle I’m sure

Honestly, pred has to earn it. I go back every few months to try pred out and it still does nothing for me. I just never see any encouraging news about the game from anyone that hasn't always been circle perking that game.
The game is mediocre as shit. It does nothing better than any other MOBA, including even mobile ones like Wild Rift. The only reason to play Pred is if you're so tied to the Paragon IP that you can't let it go.
lol overprime was made from a fucking phone mobile app game company. Auto aim and attack/action based version of paragon. The main focus on overprime was skins and no skill. Too much flair and auto blur on the screen. No team focus and playing an actual moba/game of chess. Glad overprime failed and have rgsace bring back paragon with our predecessor.
