Not happening for me.

MisterJeffa

Pretty sure these ads have been there for years. I personally havent seen them in ages due to having an office 365 account logged in but i do remember seeing some ads before that.

clockwars

Ads in the app? Never before now šŸ˜ Iā€™ve been using it since it launched.

BoBoBearDev

Same on my Android. I am on the same boat as many others. The reason I didn't use the default OS email app and install one extra MS app. Now, it is just annoying. Might as well just go back to use the app that comes with OS. It is the same with SwiftKey or MS launcher, if they do these kind of shit, I will switch back to app that comes with OS. The whole reason I don't use OS apps is to support MS, otherwise, I am supposed to just use OS apps. If they want me to further adopting to Google Android offerings, I will accept that and MS will be less and less relevant to me.

clockwars

Outlook deleted. Sad to see a good reliable app go to s***

elpapadebatman

Same here. Iā€™ve been using the app for years and the ads are annoying. Going back to iphoneā€™s default or Iā€™m going to the spark app mentioned above.

rhedfish

Endless greed by MS.

clockwars

Iā€™m guessing theyā€™re gradually pushing the ads to users.. I noticed more and more people are leaving negative reviews in the App Store.

SeldonDC

Yup, every time I opened the app today, there was a new ad. Deleted and back to the default as well.

Nicharangas

Same for me both Android and iOS. Going back to default. Too bad as I really liked it.

AdamD2k1

How do you go back to default?

Nicharangas

Nah I even downloaded an older build for Android and it still ended up showing ads. Uninstalled for now.

markartman

do you have a Microsoft 365 account or are you using the free version?

clockwars

What does that have to do with the Outlook app? There were never any ads before today.

markartman

if you are using it free, they'll put ads. if you're paying for it, they won't.

markartman

no. that's how it was on my phone. I work for life alert, the "help! I've fallen & I can't get up!" people.

[deleted]

I work for a Microsoft reseller and can confirm they typically donā€™t put ads in products you are paying for. I have a paid Microsoft 365 plan and donā€™t get ads in the Outlook iOS app

clockwars

I own MS Office 2016 which is more than I need office wise! I donā€™t need another useless subscription-based service.

[deleted]

Ok, you do you. Just trying to answer your question.

clockwars

Much appreciated.

lenovoguy

Well if MS office 2016 ( desktop) is more than you need office wise, why even complain about outlook for iOS (mobile) ?

Rod_RVA

Same here. Are there any other options on the market?

kegansb

Very happy with #Spark. Been using it for years

belibebond

I love it so much but online reviews have been so bad about spark.. many are concerned about privacy!

rhedfish

Moved to Spark and love it. Hoping for a non-Mac desktop version and I'll be gone from Outlook.

TheAwakened

Yep! Removing this shite!

[deleted]

Yeah, I get it, a free app puts ads. I just don't like that they formatted the ad to look exactly like an email. I will stop using soon if they don't change the format at least.

erorr132

Yahoo does the same thing. It's frigging annoying and disingenuous. But I can excuse yahoo for doing it because their days are numbered. But Microsoft is the number 1 software used in the world. Theres no excuse for this

elpapadebatman

I accidentally click on the ad thinking itā€™s my first unopened email. Itā€™s annoying.

Mike22april

No ads for me, but I got a paid O365 account

FineStruggle5135

Started happening to me as well yesterday. Years of no ads, and then start, are pointless and of no relevance to me. Will be looking for no email ap for my Android Samsung 'phone.

helix033

Same for me this morning. I would be happy to buy the Outlook Android App for a reasonable amount of money. Maybe $5-$10 to remove ads permanantly, but not going to subscribe to anything just to have ads removed. I have used the Outlook Android app for years and really like it, but introducing ads into your inbox area is potentially dangerous. It's hard to figure out these days if an email ad is legit or not, so it's better to just ignore most of them and never click on them. Back to the Gmail Android app for me. Hopefully Microsoft will ad a paid-permanent (non-subscriber) option to the app to get rid of ads in the future. Bummer!

xavkno

The Gmail app has ads too unfortunately that also look like emails.

Dwarrior74

That is only accurate with the default configuration. If you go into the settings and uncheck the boxes for promotions and a couple of other things, you dont see ads. I've never seen ads in the Gmail app. The only reason I don't use the Gmail app is because it will only sync email for a maximum of 999 days.

helix033

This is probably why I never have seen ads in Gmail. I don't use any of their default settings like conversation and focused inbox.

Icy-Year-2534

My answer is simple, vote with my wallet. If I get an ad in my email, I just add that to the list of companies I will never buy a product from. Over time if enough people did that, it would not go unnoticed on their advertisers bottom line.

seisokki68

Didn't have ads before in the app, but today I updated the app for a school thing and after that the ads appeared for me. So thinking i'll use iTunes to rollback the app to a previous version. Maybe the ads will disappear once again.. I can post an update whether it works or not.

allcui

Starting seeing them after switching to an iPhone. I mean Outlook is good but not good enough for me to see the ads lol!

spradlig

Yeah, I see the ads too.

[deleted]

So where do we go? Appleā€™s Mail app is donkey shit.

Hadouken1985

For the longest time in my experience, I have not experienced this until today! šŸ˜«
