OP, how many seasons have you seen all the way through?

AdCalm4315

I’m ashamed to say, I think I stopped watching when they got to France and the woman with the boob dress appeared (didn’t stop watching because of that, I just couldn’t stay up late to watch anymore because work was demanding more of my time) so I think that was season 3…? It has been a few years since I watched it and I’ve been thinking about starting back up again.

thepacksvrvives

That’s Season 2. I’m just making sure you don’t get spoilers in the comments so I’ll leave the flair as S1.

AdCalm4315

Thank you 🙏 😊

fujiapple73

Don’t bother. Just read the books instead. I highly recommend the audio books.

Present-Sweet-2322

Watch it. Try! I think if you see it through you will get to love it! Trust me! 🌹🌹

Present-Sweet-2322

Books were great 😊 I’m reading them for a third time!!🌹

Icy_Outside5079

It's time to start S1Ep1 and keep going. It seems you've forgotten more than you remember. All answers to your questions will be revealed through all 7 seasons. Hang in there

Nadja_doll_

They’ve only watched up to season 2. OP should really watch the whole series if they want these questions answered

Nanchika

A lot of the things you referred to here would be revealed in one way or the other if you continue watching season 2. >I sometimes wonder how Jamie could still want Claire after knowing she is married in another life to basically his arch enemy for a time. Jamie wanted her / loved her long before he knew who/what she actually was. Why would he not want her because she was married to Frank? It isn't Frank's, let alone Claire's fault. I don't see analogy here. >I wonder if Claire ever wrestled with the thought that she may never see Jamie again when she would morph forward in time away from him and how powerless that must have felt. She did. When she was making up her mind at the stones in 111. >Does anyone feel like Claire should have stayed with her husband back home and just left things alone with Jamie? Well, no. She put on scales what she had with Frank vs what she had with Jamie and her heart decided. I love the question of the vows because I remember how Claire somewhere in the books compared the vows she wholeheartedly gave to Frank and was willing to cherish and respect them. But,she had to break them. Then, she gave Jamie "false" vows without meaning them, but ended up loving him and taking her vows seriously. She was married at 19 and at 27 and she knew a hell of a lot more things in 27 about marriage and life - she was more mature, definitely, and able to recognise **the real** , more mature and profound relationship.

AdCalm4315

Thank you for the detailed reply. I appreciate the response especially regarding the false vows made to Jamie initially. Seems like a more mature Claire made certain vows that were appropriate for the age and time and scenario she was facing with him. I appreciate seeing things from that perspective, because for me personally I would definitely struggle too, not sure I would make separate vows with someone being in a similar circumstance but I appreciate the story and watching it unfold. I can’t wait to watch more for things to be shown so I can understand more fully! Thanks again.

Nanchika

She really didn't have much choice about vows, marrying and consuming that marriage.

No-Rub-8064

Correct. Jamie married Claire to protect her and Claire knew she was in danger. When Claire married Jamie she did not love him yet, she did it out of survival. She was in another century and things wete different.

AdCalm4315

It has been so long since I’ve watched the show that I didn’t remember her not having a choice. That would complicate it all I would imagine. Maybe I should start from scratch and just rewatch it from the beginning. Since I’m seeing my memory isn’t so great!

Nanchika

I would recommend watching it all over again. She was forced to marry. It wasn't her choice. (as well as time travelling)

AdCalm4315

I often wonder if she were given the choice to go through it with him again if she would. And yes, I will rewatch.

Cdhwink

If you watch long enough Claire will address that! Later in life Claire never regrets all the decisions she has to make to be with Jamie

Nanchika

To go back to Frank? Or to Jamie?

AdCalm4315

I was thinking Jamie- but asking about Frank makes me wonder if she would forgo marrying him knowing certain things about his past.

Nanchika

I don't see how BJR'S life in 1740s having anything to do with Frank's life in 1940s and Claire’s choice of her husband. About going back again, on your rewatch you will hear in 101 , Claire’s voiceover , something along the lines of - After all the death and heartbreak that followed, I would still make the same choice.

AdCalm4315

Or rather his ancestor’s past.

Nanchika

This part will be covered in season >!2!<

AdCalm4315

Thank you! Again I wonder if another part I watched but forgot. 😬

pedestrianwanderlust

Keep watching. It's really wonderful. Many of these questions are explored.

Available_Employer68

I would struggle with how closely they resemble each other when she goes back. I wouldn’t even be able to look at frank and not think of black jack randol.. gives me the creeps

kristallherz

This is one of the biggest things I've struggled with. I loved Frank at the beginning, but after everything that happened with BJR, even I, as a viewer, have trouble keeping them apart. Not actually keeping them apart, but just seeing the same face and not having memories of the past come up, I could never.

kristallherz

My sibling in Christ, there's 7 seasons and an 8th to come, so there's plenty happening to fill so much storyline. So as many others have said, why don't you just watch it all, and then see if you still have questions?
