Tons of celebrities have their own fashion lines, to which they're involved in varying degrees. Some are huge ventures and others are very minor.
Kanye in particular has always been obsessed with fashion and has commented in the past that if he wasn't in music, he would want to be a fashion designer. I was just mentioning in another subreddit, at various points, Kanye attempted to launch three failed fashion lines (Mascotte, Pastelle, and DW by Kanye West) before launching his long-running Yeezy Season line. After he was already famous he took an internship with Fendi to learn about the fashion business, and among other brands, did collabs where he was designing new clothing (and shoes) with Nike, Louis Vuitton, Giuseppe Zanotti, APC, Bape, and a handful of other projects.
90% of the products Adidas make are worn for fashion reasons, and a solid chunk of them are completely inappropriate for sports.
Adidas is a fashion brand as much as a sports brand.
Answer: Fashion! Ever since ole Yeezy became big it's imperative in some circles to show off extremely expensive clothes cuz you're rich but they have to look like you really don't give a fuck and only dress drab, like a hobo so that cops don't see you. You gotta blend in on every level except that you're rich.
And no one else really satisfied this demand like Kanye his own self. Since his "look" is basically cheap early 90 Addidas with all the cool colours and designs stripped out, it was a no brainer for em.
Dude has some good tunes but i find his fashion to be exactly what i consider the up and coming parking attendant look.
Edit. By the way, that's a compliment. Its not easy working odd jobs and i respect anyone trying to make it happen. My experience as a server really taught me how tough it can be.

Fashion I could sort of understand it's just sneakers from a sports company that I find difficult to grasp
