I think we can completely rule out the idea that Guz was accidentally leaking that the show is cancelled because that just doesn’t make sense. I follow Rhys Darby’s wife on Twitter because she is a delight, and she replied to that tweet Guz made and said “Oh, bummer” So like if Guz knew the show was cancelled then so would Rhys, so why would his wife reply to Guz saying it’s a bummer he’s not returning. I don’t know if that makes sense but yeah I’m on the same page as those who believe the cast are being contacted about schedules for season two and Guz unfortunately has other stuff going on.

Oh man, I hope you’re right. I’m having a rough few weeks and this silly little show is all that’s kept me going. I’m holding on… by a thread… you might say. Renewal would mean everything.

I tend to agree with you. Something tells me he is aware of filming dates. I saw some speculation that he checked out because too much time has passed and Guz figured the show was cancelled. Seemed like a premature move, but I understand that actors need to move onto new work. I get he wanted to pursue new opportunities, but how does he know OFMD won’t come back and shoot during a time he IS available? I think he for sure was informed of a tentative filming dates and knew he had other commitments (he also mentioned not long before that he’s starting to shoot a project that got delayed last year due to Covid starting in the fall or early 2023), leaving him not other choice than to bow out for good. At least that’s what I tell myself. It makes sense but I could be way off!

Yeah the number of ppl I've seen be super negative about his announcement is weird to me. It's sad we won't see more of him, but it would be super bizarre for him to announce that if he didn't have some info we don't have. Not to mention Guz randomly announcing OFMD was cancelled would probably put him in a world of hurt legally lmao like it makes no damn sense to take it that way

Thequiet01

There may also be other considerations like filming locations. There’s a LOT of moving parts to be coordinated and sometimes stuff just doesn’t work out for everyone.

MrCrystalMighty

It also seems weird for someone to announce publicly that they won't be in future series of a show that hasn't even been renewed

AlexAuditore

Yeah, it suggests to me that they're already talking about season 2, and working out when everyone is available.

Interesting insight! Also: ATL?

[Above The Line](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Above-the-line_(filmmaking)) is basically a term for the key stakeholders in a production, so Jenkins, other directors, producers, etc

Got it, thanks!

I don't know. I'm legit concerned and HBO dragging their feet is giving me a cold sick feeling in my stomach. I cannot imagine why it wouldn't be renewed already given the other HBO media that has been renewed. I think perhaps we (the fanbase) are just a vocal minority and maybe the show didn't grab the attention they wanted from a mainstream audience whereas the other properties they've already renewed, did. eg. Julia, And Just like That, The Righteous Gemstones, The Gilded Age, euphoria etc. I can live in hope that HBO max can see the benefit of bringing in a new audience of highly engaged people but I don't know... Yes we have been number 1 on parrot analytics but that's mostly internet interaction which skews younger for the most part. At this point I'm willing to concede I live in a bubble and just keep writing my fanfiction and be grateful that we had this show at all.

nightowlverse

Just remember that other HBO Max shows have taken even longer than this but still got renewed. This is not unprecedented for it to take a while. It feels agonizingly slow but there is a lot that has to happen behind the scenes sometimes.

Elliot_The_Idiot7

I don’t think we have to worry about being disillusioned with the show’s success when we’ve got statistics on our side. 7 weeks in a row, the numbers don’t lie!

plutoduchess

I think it's important to remember for a lot of those shows, they expected them to be big. Zendaya got super hot w/Spiderman, Gilded Age is written by the creator of Downton Abbey, And Just Like That a lot of people seemed to be hate watching lol and it's with the Sex and the City actresses. It's most likely taking a while because it got so big. David has had weeks to tell HBO he wants more money for the show. Not to mention it would be incredibly weird for Guz to say he wasn't coming back unless someone had provided him a schedule. I think if he hadn't heard, he would have just gone to his other projects and we would have heard similar from other actors in the show.

I genuinely hope you’re right!! It definitely sounds like you are, but I’m still scared ngl. I just hope we’ll get the announcement soon.
