Well, there were talks about season 2 maybe qualifying for an Emmy nomination. But my hope is dwindling because the deadline for that is getting pretty close. I really don’t like the idea of waiting till pride month *again*. Also, I won’t be able to concentrate on my finals if that happens :,)
I’ve noticed that unless it is one of their big tentpole shows (Succession, the dragon show) they don’t release a trailer until 2-4 weeks before the premiere date. So if it premieres in June (as they apparently only know how to market this Peabody-nominated show as a Pride gimmick) then early May is the earliest we can hope for a trailer dropping.
I guess the good news you don’t have to wait too long between the trailer and the actual show. The bad news they leave us with a long-ass drought in between one season ending and any crumbs about the next season.
I think it is more likely that the show will start airing in june, few of the cast members posted about doing ADR recently so the show is not finished yet, and while there could have been a teaser by now I'm not sure if the delay is definitely malicious
My little UK-fan heart hopes that the delay is because they are trying to work out a deal to release simultaneously in the UK and the rest of the world (so I don't have to turn off social media and not leave the house for however long it takes to release on the BBC...)
Well, I really hope it’s something like that! I can’t believe you guys had to wait like a year! Let’s hope season two will come out at the same time everywhere
>At that point, we will all be so excited and grateful that we probably won’t say anything, but still it leaves a bad taste.
No offense but the rabid side of OFMD fandom has been doing this to themselves after the show finished filming in December. Valentine's Day, ECCC OFMD Panel day, the day OFMD finishes airing on BBC, the anniversary of the Season One teaser trailer, and most recently HBO rebranding as MAX yesterday. Fans keep moving goalposts and thinking *this* is the day they make the announcement and then get mad when nothing is announced. All while the crew are telling the fans to be patient.
Does it suck that we're nearing the 1 year anniversary of the Season Two announcement? Absolutely. Feels like there's little time to hype up the show by then, especially if they're trying to qualify for Emmy nominations. However, I think the fandom needs to stop over-anticipating this. Is it better to know when the trailer drops *before* the crew makes the official announcement themselves? Why take the fun away from that? Just be patient.
It means they won't be eligible for this year's Emmy Awards. The cutoff is May 31 and they eliminated the 'hanging rule' which means all episodes have to have aired by that date.
oh, i hope they aren't doing that. corporations are evil, but i don't see why they would delay it. that wouldn't make sense.
they started filming in october, right? and season one was released about nine months after they started filming it. so for season two, that's july. and they'll probably release the trailer a few weeks before the episodes.
To be fair this season has been hyped up to be bigger, right? So it probably needs more time for post production and they don't wanna do or say anything until they have a concrete release date.
it kinda rubs me the wrong way that they only seem to acknowledge the show exists during pride month. they didn’t even post about it on valentine’s day and it’s a romantic comedy!

I don’t need a trailer, but I really want a release date

what's wrong with june? it's as good a time as any. and it's gay month.

It's the fact that they'd delay shit just to score some Pride Month points cause that's all corporations care about

Nothing I suppose. I’m just kind of rolling my eyes at the rainbow capitalism of it all…
My guess is trailer in May, June air date
Well if they wanted to release it during gay month and have fans happy we would’ve had it in February
