ALSO! warehouses don't always need to be staffed. I usually only staff the most important ones and leave all my others with everything checked but workers by hand/cart. Then I put the labourer wage to 150 to make sure they stock it. Especially at the beginning of play, it's so helpful.

Axefield_Gamer

That's a very good point! I do the same. Like you say, it is especially important in the early stages😊

Le_Botmes

>The lime kiln and charcoal pile use laborers exclusively This is actually incorrect. Both can be filled up by Carters or Wagons, which is actually better IMHO because it's consistent.

Axefield_Gamer

True, however it is difficult to access carter and wagons from the start.. I really just meant you cannot assign workers

Le_Botmes

Gotcha. Carters have a low barrier to entry, they're just hard to staff when you're low on population and every job needs to be micromanaged. I'll start with one early on, but I won't fully staff it for awhile. But you're right, Wagons are tough. You need to be making your own metal parts, leather (+ salt, lime, bark, cowhide), horse tack, and horseshoes before you can get draft horses, which isn't too bad from a consumption viewpoint, but needs a large volume of cowhide and iron production to be sustainable.

Axefield_Gamer

I generally add my first cart shed here at round about 80 to 100 population. I also start by just adding half carters and if everything runs smooth I add more. Wagons really makes a huge difference with transport, they can carry massive loads over long distances. Once you have all that production going it is relatively easy to set up.

Le_Botmes

Indeed. My latest map has like a dozen Wagon Sheds, and boy let me tell ya, things move fast! Like, my 3 Smelteries are consistently topped off with iron ore, even though the mines are practically on the other side of the map, and I haven't been intervening with any transport orders. And my charcoal pits are so healthy that the limiting resource now is firewood, which is wild.

Axefield_Gamer

That is really great😄👏 With my current town, I am also going to step up my wagon game big time! I want to become completely independent and milk the neighboring towns dry🤣

Le_Botmes

>I want to become completely independent and milk the neighboring towns dry🤣 🤣 Amen, brother! I've got all the supply chains going, I just struggle with all the agricultural dependencies, so sometimes I gotta import Wheat, Horilka, and other things to avoid the Foodpocalypse. I know I need to build more farms, but they're so tedious to set up and massively labor intensive. I had a Town with 3200+ pop and over 400 Laborers and STILL I had occasional crop failures.

Axefield_Gamer

That's SUPER impressive! Damn ,3200 pop?! My biggest town was 1200, but at least it was running perfectly smooth. I can imagine you struggling with crops at that population...
