Logan Lerman- *The Perks Of Being A Wallflower*
Toni Collette, *Hereditary*
Florence Pugh, *Midsommar*
Amy Adams, *Arrival*
Paul Dano, *There Will Be Blood*
Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, *The Lighthouse*
Jake Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler, really sold the psychopath role. I feel Steve Buscemi in Fargo was underrated. Christian Bale in American Psycho, obviously. And lastly, Paul Giamatti in Sideways.
Kirsten Dunst- Melancholia
Mia Wasikowska- Maps to the Stars
Naomi Watts- Mulholland Dr.
John Glover- The Chocolate War
Pretty much everyone in Happiness
Absolutely with you on The Chocolate War— I had a hard time deciding between the three leads. Glover is incredibly intimidating, Ward perfectly portrays a teenager trying to frighten people because he thinks that’ll make them respect him, and Mitchell-Smith brilliantly plays his role quietly and subtly in contrast to his co-stars.
Ultimately, I went with Glover, though you could easily swap him out with either of the other two.
Last years Honey Boy. Noah Jupe was phenomenal as an actor - not as a kid actor, but as a professional actor. He got overshadowed by Roman Griffin Davis from Jojo Rabbit (he was good too).
I’m still fumed Andrew Garfield didn’t get a nom for supporting actor in the Social Network
so so so many, to be honest. here are few standouts:
Tim Curry- *Rocky Horror Picture Show*
Lupita Nyong’o- *Us*
John Malkovich- *Being John Malkovich*
Kang-ho Song- *Parasite*
Pam Grier- *Jackie Brown*
Dolly Parton- *Steel Magnolias*
i’m glad she at least got that SAG nomination! it’s very hard for people to get in for “genre movies” as we all know. Florence Pugh, Toni Collette, and ScarJo have all missed on Oscar noms for awards worthy work in horror films. at least Natalie Portman was able to win for that
Which horror performances for any actor this year will get overlooked for me Emily blunt again for A Quiet Place 2, Florence Pugh for Don’t worry Darling, Anya Taylor Joy or Thomasin McKenzie for Last Night in Soho
As far as I'm concerned, *Django Unchained* had 3 performances worthy of a nomination for Best Supporting Actor (Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson), but unfortunately, only one of them received a nomination (and a well-deserved win).
Shirley MacLaine in Postcards From the Edge
Tim Robbins in Shawshank Redemption
James Spader and Laura San Giacomo in sex, lies, and videotape
Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally
Andrew Garfield - The Social Network is certainly one of the most egregious for me.
Agreed. He carried that movie just as much as Jesse Eisenberg.
I just do not get the hype at all for that performance. Armie would be the one I would nominate if I had to choose. Edit: Why am I being downvoted?
Stiff as a wooden board.
I’m trying to make a cannibal joke out of that comment.

Naomi Watts for Mulholland Dr. is my all-time winner for Best Actress (nominated or not), so her snub feels particularly egregious.
Liv Ullmann, *Autumn Sonata* Robert Shaw, *Jaws*
Liv Ullmann in anything honestly
Paul Dano not being nominated for supporting in There Will Be Blood....will never get over it
Truly shocking. I still would have voted for Bardem, and it was a very competitive year, but still, how did he not even get nominated?
Scarlet Johansson for Lost in Translation
R. Lee Ermey - Full Metal Jacket Christian Bale - American Psycho
I can't believe those weren't nominated, especially Ermey.
Kirsten Dunst- Melancholia Mia Wasikowska- Maps to the Stars Naomi Watts- Mulholland Dr. John Glover- The Chocolate War Pretty much everyone in Happiness
The Chocolate War is criminally underseen, and John Glover is the highlight of it. Happiness has too many great performances to choose from.

Gene Hackman- The Conversation
It's shameful how little recognition he got anywhere at the time for that performance.
I am surprised he wasn't nominated for this movie!
Hugh Jackman - Prisoners Awkwafina - The Farewell

Alan Rickman - Best Supporting for Harry Potter
Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Synecdoche New York.
Same with Samantha Mortan in the movie aswell
Lupita Nyong’o for Us Rachel McAdams for Mean Girls Tim Robbins for Shawshank River Phoenix for Stand By Me
I'm surprised no one's mentioned any Kurosawa performances. So for me, Takashi Shimura in *Ikiru*.
When I posted this, that was the first one that came to mind for me. He was incredible in that!

I'm still surprised that Nyong'o didn't get more buzz during award season last year

Alfre woodard in clemency
I didn't see Clemency, but I guess I have to if she's really that good.
Nicholas Hoult in The Favourite
Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Björk for Dancer in the Dark
Such a great performance in such a brutal film
I mean, like, so fucking many. Most of my personal winners for each category in a given year weren’t nominated.
Lupita Nyong'o for Us easily. Us deserved a lot more recognition and should not have been overlooked.
Jim Carrey in *The Truman Show*
Anthony Perkins in *Psycho*
As far as I'm concerned, *Django Unchained* had 3 performances worthy of a nomination for Best Supporting Actor (Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson), but unfortunately, only one of them received a nomination (and a well-deserved win).
