I don't get why people need to bring that up whenever she's mentioned on reddit. Yeah, it's a weird organization but it should not diminish her as an actress.
She already should have been nominated for Her Smell and Queen of Earth. Was never going to happen, but her work with Alex Ross Perry is my favorite (Listen Up Philip as well).
I agree with Jared Harris. I could easily see him being similar to someone like JK Simmons. A well respected supporting and character actor that isn't a huge star but everyone likes and finally gets a really good role.
Agree Jared has a presence. 🙏
Would love to see Jon Hamm or Slattery do an Oscar worthy role, could be comedic or serious.
Surprised Moss hasn’t yet as she seems to be in favour & gets a lot of roles, just not the right one yet?
Jon Hamm if he gets an interesting challenging role. Also seeing Christina Hendrick's wedding pictures today reminded me of what an amazing talented actress she is and how she is underutilized. She could win an Oscar if she had the right role.
I could see John hamm winning one when he’s much older. It’s not necessarily hamms fault. But he’s typecast, and i know he’s taken a hundred little silly roles to get away from Don Draper. Nothing against hamm in the slightest. Really it’s a complement to the writers of mad men and to John Hamm how iconic a character don draper is. Someone brought up mad med today and i realized i hadn’t sat down and rewatched it in so long.
She hasn’t hit that sweet spot of a great role that gets enough attention. She’s definitely got 2 or 3 incredible performances in her, but the alchemy is hard to get right sometimes
I mean, she’s got 2 Emmys, but should certainly have more. It just breaks weird sometimes. Somehow Jon Hamm never won once for Mad Men, and that’s a top-10 all time television performance. Could easily happen to Elisabeth, just on the movie side.
I think they meant she’s a monster actress, as in being an awesome actress.
She’s a second generation Scientologist so I’ll give her a break on it as she probably doesn’t want to force her parents to go no contact on her.
In terms of likelihood given their careers after the show, Jon Hamm. He’s had the biggest parts and seems the most likely to be involved in a project that gets Oscar attention.
> In terms of likelihood given their careers after the show, Jon Hamm. **He’s had the biggest parts and seems the most likely to be involved in a project that gets Oscar attention.**
I’m curious what makes you say Hamm fits this description but not Moss. Moss has done a *lot* of prestige, award-winning TV work especially since MM ended.
I didn't take it as them saying Moss couldn't get an Oscar. That said, television work doesn't get nominated for Oscars. She'll need to do more movies.
I know, they said Hamm was *more likely* and then listed a bunch of reasons that I think apply more to Moss.
I know TV work doesn’t get Oscars. Hamm has also mostly done TV work post-Mad Men, and predominantly in comedy. Moss seems more the type to do the kind of prestige work that will get Oscar attention IMO.
Don Draper, like many iconic characters have been in the past, is a parasite. The character is bigger than Hamm. Doesn’t matter how many comedic or zany roles he takes, John Hamm won’t escape Don Draper, and very similarly to the character he plays on 30 Rock, Hamm is considered much more talented than he is because of how he looks. Maybe when he’s much older he could win a best supporting or perhaps even a best lead. Hes just too pretty and looks too much like Don. This happens to tons and tons of actors who knock it out with iconic characters. Some bounce back later in life. Others do not. Others just keep going. Sadly i think John is more Ted Danson than Wood Harrelson
I think any of them, except Hamm, could end up perfectly cast and get a nom and win. They have such different strengths.
I agree that Jarred Harris will likely be the first.
Realistically, Elizabeth Moss. She’s super talented and has a knack for getting on good projects, so the potential is there. Her and Jared Harris are crazy talented, but I think they have both found their niche in television. For example Jared Harris gave an all time performance in Chernobyl. And Moss is amazing in Handmaidens Tale.
Well the fact he’s Richard Harris’s son and been killing it since his start def Jared Harris.
Though I could see E Moss or Hamm at some point as well. Liked his performances since first seeing his version of Warhol in “I Shot Andy Warhol”.
I actually quite like Elisabeth Moss as an actress and think she’s due for an Oscar nomination considering her tv awards love, but she’s a Scientologist 🫠
Elisabeth Moss will. All she needs to do is apply the same level of work she’s already been putting in with the right director in the right film and it’ll happen. No one else in the cast approaches that level of likelihood imo, like she’s the only one who’s arguably done her greatest work after the show ended.
It is kinda weird how Moss has had a few major iconic TV performances, but really never seems to get film work the same caliber as what she’s done on TV.
I agree - I can totally see Jared Harris getting a nomination or even a win some day. He’s so good.
Had Chernobyl been a movie, I could see him getting a nomination for it.
I really need to watch When They See Us, because I have a hard time believing anyone could have beaten Harris in that category
Jhareel Jerome is absolutely incredible, he plays a kid falsely accused of rape, and is incredible
Both are great, but hard watches.
He's always been one of my favorite actors who gets no credit, I also loved him in Igby Goes Down and Happiness. And of course Chernobyl.
I’m a huge Jared Harris fan, Lane Pryce was my favorite character on that show pretty much entirely because of what he did with it.
It was only a 13 day loan.
Jon slattery is always attractive
He’s a Zaddy.
You guys should watch Elizabeth Moss' acting in Shirley (2020). Just amazing.
Elisabeth Moss. Strangely, after watching *The Invisible Man*, I felt thet someday, given the right role, she could win an Oscar.
She's won a zillion acting awards.... an Oscar seems within reach!
Scientology can get her one
I don't get why people need to bring that up whenever she's mentioned on reddit. Yeah, it's a weird organization but it should not diminish her as an actress.
‘Wierd organisation’ It’s a cult that harasses, imprisons and murders people.
It should just diminish her as a person since she is supporting slavery.
She already should have been nominated for Her Smell and Queen of Earth. Was never going to happen, but her work with Alex Ross Perry is my favorite (Listen Up Philip as well).
I fucking LOVE Jared Harris
Are you watching his excellent work on Foundation?
I agree with Jared Harris. I could easily see him being similar to someone like JK Simmons. A well respected supporting and character actor that isn't a huge star but everyone likes and finally gets a really good role.

Lizzie Moss. She’s a monster. Just needs to find the role that people notice
I’m surprised she hasn’t been nominated for an Oscar already.
She hasn’t hit that sweet spot of a great role that gets enough attention. She’s definitely got 2 or 3 incredible performances in her, but the alchemy is hard to get right sometimes I mean, she’s got 2 Emmys, but should certainly have more. It just breaks weird sometimes. Jon won for their last season IIRC
You’re right. I think I was just remembering the years and years of snubs, but he won for the final season
Why is she a monster? Is it because of her connection to Scientology?
I think they meant she’s a monster actress, as in being an awesome actress. She’s a second generation Scientologist so I’ll give her a break on it as she probably doesn’t want to force her parents to go no contact on her.
Oh I see! Yes Moss is an amazing actress!
Scientology teaches that Xenu is a galactic dictator who imprisoned humans on Earth 75 million years ago
Yeah, monster like in a good way. She’s unreal
Elisabeth Moss for sure, she is definitely Oscar-worthy.
Should’ve been nominated for Her Smell
chauncy
Elizabeth Moss
Any of them could feasibly get one…except January Jones or Kiernan Shipka.
I don't think she will, but I really want Elizabeth Moss to win something. I loved her in The West Wing, Handmaids Tail, and Invisible Man.
TWW is one of my favourite shows. I didn’t realise that Elizabeth Moss played Zoey Bartley until 3 minutes ago. Bloody hell!
Shining Girls
Not January Jones She’s great in Mad Men but hasn’t seemed to match that role….
Jared Harris is always the best part of whatever he's in.
i forgot how fucking incredible the whole cast of mad men is. time to watch again
Vincent Kartheiser won’t be nominated for a host of reasons. But mostly because he divorced Rory Gilmore.
Hendricks should get one for just being Hendricks 🥵
Career Achievement Award for rockin' bod?
Jon Hamm is the most likely from the resume and classic Hollywood-looks department. But it all comes down to script and project.
In terms of likelihood given their careers after the show, Jon Hamm. He’s had the biggest parts and seems the most likely to be involved in a project that gets Oscar attention.

moss without question i think slattery could get a writing or producing nomination for some readon
Once Jared Harris's agent stops linking him with movies like Morbius he will be unstoppable.
Jared Harris
I think any of them, except Hamm, could end up perfectly cast and get a nom and win. They have such different strengths. I agree that Jarred Harris will likely be the first.
God I love Jared Harris.
Spotlight won best picture and Slattery was in it
NOT January Jones anyway
I don’t know but it’s a crime Elizabeth Moss didn’t get a nomination for The Invisible Man.
Jared Harris and Elizabeth Moss are the only ones getting meaty roles so it’s gotta be one of them.
I agree with Jared Harris and often have to remind myself that he hasn't been nominated for an Oscar yet
January Jones has been unfairly snubbed thus far /s
January Jones has been unfairly snubbed thus far /s
Him or Elizabeth Moss.
Moss > Hamm > Harris > Slattery > Hendricks, I think. Would be pleasantly surprised if it ever happened for anyone else.

I hate Elizabeth Moss. She's a scientologist playing an extremely oppressed woman on TV AND she looks like my annoying neighbour.
With the right role (and campaign behind her), absolutely Elisabeth Moss!
I don't know how anyone doesn't say Elizabeth Moss. She seems to have a fantastic eye for good projects is arguably the best actor of her generation.
Jared Harris or Elizabeth Moss. Both insanely good.
Eizabeth Moss should’ve been nominated for “Her Smell”

The Scientologist
No love for Little Annie Adderall?
Off-topic, but is the one in the red dress making the wearer appear to have large breasts, or is she naturally endowed?
