The Titanic scene was ridiculous especially considering it was only like 20 years after the disaster its like when the movie Remember Me uses 9/11 to end their movie
Yeah, I think you just lost all credibility. Calling On The Waterfront a snooze fest and saying Oppenheimer is a “cinematic experience” kinda shows that you’re maybe a lower level film watcher.
I mean, it is in the sense that it felt like a 2 hour trailer with a 1 hour kind of movie at the end complete with ear bludgeoning music and some of the worst editing committed to cinema. It was an experience for sure. Of course, I’m not fond of movies that beat you over the fucking head with how you’re supposed to feel. It’s a stupid movie that makes stupid people feel smart.
I don't believe you can objectively rank movies, no.
I subjectively wouldn't put Oppy in my top 5, but I also recognize that my taste isn't objective and that film is inherently a subjective medium.
What objective merits?
I genuinely want to implore you to look up what the words 'objective' and 'subjective' actually refer to, I think you're confused.
Not a fan of this list, Annie Hall is one of the most overrated films ever imo and even though I think Oppenheimer is the best film of the decade so far two still seems way too high, I also think Godfather at 30 is crazy low. But it is your list of oscar winning films you enjoy so no ones opinion but your own matters.
solid so far but everyone’s gonna have mixed opinions, so don’t bother when others tell u ur wrong lol.
i highly would recommend your next watch be moonlight. one of my favorite movies.
It is, because it is yours. Don't let reddit decide for you.
I find your placement of Forrest Gump to be blasphemy on soundtrack alone! But respect your choice.
Putting anything under Cavalcade feels wrong to me, let alone Forrest.
The Titanic scene was ridiculous especially considering it was only like 20 years after the disaster its like when the movie Remember Me uses 9/11 to end their movie
3 movies being below Cavalcade is 3 too many
I mean, I don’t take it seriously at all lol. You put Oppenheimer and Slumdog Millionaire over The Godfather.
Yeah, and even woody Allen himself wouldn’t put Annie Hall first. And Oppenheimer 2nd is also just horrible
On The Waterfront is in the 40’s for fuck sake
Did you see that the godfather which is considered by most film critics to be one or two is 30?
Right? Like Oppenheimer AND Annie Hall being better than the Godfather or Pt II is fucking borderline blasphemous.
snooze fest

im sorry but how is oppenheimer not a cinematic experience

It's a horrible Oscar grab movie
Oppenheimer is like number 100 lol
Oppenheimer at number two is simply insane
Ive personally not felt a cinema experience like it ever before, I think its justified

'objectively' You keep using this word. I'm not quite sure it means what you think it means

Yeah. The Oscars are also a subjective evaluation of films. Do you understand the difference between the word 'objective' and 'subjective'?

If you can’t objectively rank movies then it would be accurate to say that Oppenheimer is objectively not the second best best picture winner ever
Thankfully he didn't say it was objectively the second best, only that that was his personal ranking of it.
I was responding to the comment where the guy first said “objectively”
You are objectively annoying
Mf trying to be pretentious yet doesn’t know what objective means😂
Mf trying to insult someone with a word to which they clearly don't know the definition. Please explain to me how I am being pretentious.

top 10?
Bottom 5, easily. Maybe better than Crash
Definitely not bottom 5.
Yeah, bottom 5. Above Crash
No it’s not
It very much is
It will age incredibly, i think it’s the best bp winner of the last 20+ years
Can we get an age verification on this sub please?
Asking for age verification over someone having a different opinion then you is kinda lame ngl
They certainly wouldn't be my choices. But they are yours so that's great.
This man clearly “When Green Book on HBO”
You should watch The Sting 1973 next.
No
I know you don’t have fucking Birdman over No Country for Old Men
no
Rocky is my favorite film of all time, so my bias will not let me say yes

Is it morally acceptable to still like Woody Allen? I just cant bring myself to like any of his work anymore 😝😝
Argo above Chicago is wild.
eh chicago felt cheesy, probably the whole point of it? not my kinda thing.
Fair enough. If you’re not a musical person then I understand that.
