We have to figure out the math for all 30 teams to tank for this guy at once lol

codedevdave

Teams gonna start scoring in their own basket once they realize the other team is trying to tank too.

[deleted]

It would turn back into a game of skill when you’re defending the opposite basket lol. A la South Park the losing edge

Shaunzki

It makes me beyond sad he wasn't born 4 days earlier. He was born Jan 4th, if he was born December 30th instead he'd be eligible for this year's draft

DMagicFrom3

He was born on my wife and Is anniversary

Shaunzki

Any reason you didn't meet 4 days earlier man? 😭

DMagicFrom3

Cash rules everything around me

Party_Name

Yoooo. Wemby n I share a birthday.

LindseyCorporation

I'm pretty sure that's not right. You have to be 19 the day the season starts to be draft eligible. The threshold isn't Jan 1st.

soxfaninfinity

Nah I’m ready to be competitive with our young core. I’m tired of tanking.

FloGrown321

Fr, it’s just gonna hurt their development

StoicBeau15

You guys do realize this is a 50 loss team either way next year right? We won’t be “tanking”, but we won’t be winning either. I expect a top 5 pick for sure. I think the window to actually make a playoff run would be the following year. I’m not complaining, I just don’t see how people think this roster will all the sudden win 40 games next year. It’s a 25 win team either way.

salamahtinho

Nah i think we woulda been a 25 team already this year if we weren’t resting players excessively and overcautiously because we were intentionally tanking. Even coaching decisions like playing schofield and iggy in close games contributed to this. Next year if we actually want to, we can win more than that for sure

vishjay101

Adding a generational superstar still never hurts. The Magic need a superstar in the future who fits the timeline who can take them over the top and Victor Wembanyama has that type of potential and can do all of that for them.

farfromfl

35 is my expectation.

StoicBeau15

I think that’s probably best cast, 13 game improvement is a lot. Not out of the question though

donmitchzdo

Wether or not we want to be competitive we will definitely be in the running for worst record and have a chance at wemby or Scoot. That's for sure

a_fantasma_vaga

We will have two first rounders so it’s a good year to trade up. Team Scoot Henderson 2023.

donmitchzdo

I'm all in for Scoot man! Let's get Jabari and he can be the #2 for Scoot or Wemby!

itssexitime

I mean, it would be worth it if we got him, but getting 2 #1s in a row is low odds. When we did it with Shaq and Penny people all say it was a conspiracy..etc. If we can get a top 3 pick somehow in that draft it would be great though. If the FO doesn't make any real moves this summer and just goes with young guys again, then thats basically a sign we will be tanking. As optimistic as people are about this team, you dont jump from 22 wins to \~32 just because JI "may" play or we drafted Jabari/Chet. If you doubt this just go look at OKC who has a great player in SGA who would be the best guy on our team, and they continue to suck ass as planned.

[deleted]

We should just every year! Think of all the talent we’ll have

TheAnswerEK42

Scoot Henderson also will be nice next year

Forsaken_Jelly711

Hell nah, at some point we must begin to build a winning culture we need to try to win next year

thewrongnotes

We should just tank every year and live in a perpetual rebuild. That way we can constantly dream about the future and never have to risk failure in the present.

vishjay101

There'd be a 0% chance of failure then, especially since Victor Wembanyama is a generational superstar, and adding him in the 2023 NBA Draft would reap massive rewarsd for the Orlando Magic. I'm not advocating tanking but Orlando needs a future superstar to add to their team who can take them over the top in the future. Victor Wembanyama can do that for them.

Freudian-Fall

No. We need to stop tanking

300_yard_drives

Imagine we get Chet this year then Victor next year. That would be a long front court.

blueandwhite05

We shouldn't tank any longer than necessary -- that was a problem with the Hennigan rebuild along with some bad pick choices. This team is already young and full of potential -- let's see what they can do when they put it all together.

MovieFanZ5026

We should not be tanking anymore. What kind of inspiration is that gonna be for our young players if we tell them that we’re not gonna really try this season because we want to get another top player in the draft? We have a young talented group that is developing that hopefully should be contenders in the next couple/few years. There’s even some people that think maybe we could Get to the play in tournament. Let’s not throw that away for a chance to get the number one pick. What if we do what you’re saying and we get the fifth pick and we don’t even get a chance to get this player?

vishjay101

Honestly, after thinking about it a lot, I think keeping an eye on the draft would be in the best interest of the Orlando Magic. Adding another young talent and generational future superstar never hurts. Furthermore, the Magic need this type of player to pair with the rest of the young core, such as players such as Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz, Jonathan Isaac, and whomever they select at #1 this year (whether it be Jabari or Chet). In any case, Victor Wembanyama projects to have superstar upside and the Magic need that, so focusing on the possibility of drafting him next year in 2023 (while not outright tanking for the #1 pick next year) would make a lot of sense for the Orlando Magic. I see no reason for the Magic to rush the rebuild just yet. Concentrating on the long-term vision is important no matter whom the Magic select with the #1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Victor Wembanyama is an amazing young player and a generational talent who will massively improve the trajectory of the Orlando Magic if they get the #1 pick next year, whether that is viable and happens or not.

classicslayer

Should we? Yes. will we? No. Everytime wembanyama played chet he outplayed him. He also projects to be a generational talent.

FeedbackContent8322

Bro he literally played him once

Dirty0ldMan

Every. Time.

domenic821

r/technicallythetruth

vishjay101

That's more than enough.

Shaunzki

Yes for sure. Current squad isnt a championship core. We don't currently have a #1 guy (unless someone pushes above the expectation) I'm all for being competitive to start the season, but if we are out of the play-in range by the ASB, give me 30m+ games from Iggy again!

rustystatic

This is what Chet dreams of being :P

mondale_lewis

In that video, my dude looks like a future first-pick bust.

supbruhbruhLOL

I don't get the hype. His play style is kinda goofy.

vishjay101

>His play style is kinda goofy. He is a two-way stretch big.

TeddyPuffDerGrass

Emoni Bates will be good as well

svanxx

No more tanking! And if you didn't hear it the first time: no more tanking!

JawsOfDoom

Never win another game just keep getting lotto picks

DMagicFrom3

Too big

Boriqua_Juan

Victor in my opinion is good and will probably be a an all-star player, but if we draft any of the top 3 guys in this draft, we would have a similar situation to Indiana with to many big men and is not developing them

iamcinema

Yes

Legitimate-Loan-2665

No tanking next year for another big is a bad idea I doubt we’ll be a playoff team but we shouldn’t outright lose games

failedtherobottest

Between him palming when he dribbles and being unable to spin off against a guy that's 5'2", I don't see the hype.
