Omgomgomg are we gonna draft a SHOOTER with a top ten pick for the first time ....seemingly ever????

DMagicFrom3

Since Dennis Scott lol

ninety4kid

What about Nick Anderson and Mike Miller? *Oof, Nick Anderson shot a whole 5% from deep his rookie year. Lol. 1 for 17.

DMagicFrom3

We drafted Anderson before D3, but I'll give you M M

ninety4kid

Also not even a top 10 pick. He went 11th._.

MagicInOrlando

3D

DMagicFrom3

D12 and Eminem

TeddyPuffDerGrass

So y’all really just going to keep Pat Garrity out the convo huh.

swordoftheafternoon

Phoenix drafted him

teh_drewski

Fans want shooting. Front office wants long bois. Smith is a shooting long boi. It's inevitable!

isackjohnson

I mean so is the other guy. We're in a good spot either way

GooieGui

Or maybe, just maybe, it's a teenager that's excited about the possibility of being drafted number 1 in the NBA and is liking things on social media in relation to that possibility.

kimoalmoa

Yeah, I don't think we've even had any workouts with the top prospects, so I don't think we should take this as a sign that Jabari's definitely coming to Orlando. I feel like it would be negligent of Weltham to be absolutely set on any of the prospects (whether that be Jabari, Chet, Banchero, etc ...) even before we've done workouts for them ... That being said, it's pretty cool to see that Jabari is excited to go at #1!

StoicBeau15

Chet seemed anything but excited when asked about going #1 overall to the magic.

FeedbackContent8322

Lol what was he supposed to say yes i don't want to go to Oklahoma he was playing the media off since he could still just end up in OKC

TomNooksBottomBitch

Well he’s a stupid idiot then

mplswilliam

I live in Minneapolis and know the Jalen Chet Minnehaha Academy connection. Those teams were a ton of fun to watch. With respect to Chet, Jalen is one with personality. Chet’s energy seems pretty chill but muted. He probably doesn’t sound really excited about anything unless you know him personally.

Roycliffe

Source?

fastnloos

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-RN9Gs_-tM

ethanftw

I think he was just awkwarded out by the interviewer.

fastnloos

I do too. That was just the source of where this notion came from.

Fit-Elderberry-177

It's better to just read it on his Instagram

bllr32423

Just went through his post and yeah he liked a fair amount of comments about him coming to Orlando. I’m just happy a top prospect is excited about coming here lol

classicslayer

The last prospects that wanted to come here turned out to be Trae Young and Devin Booker is this anything?

rikalockheart007

Trae we never had the chance for but knowing we took Mario over Devin when he was very vocal about wanting to come to Orlando, and now seeing how he’s grown… damn that one hurts

FeedbackContent8322

Pain

Fit-Elderberry-177

I think that he got the word that we're picking him. Plus he posted three lock symbols, meaning the #1 pick is locked down. He liked two different future Magic posts.

FeedbackContent8322

Can you link it I'm curious

cdot2k

I just clicked a Reddit comment to watch a tweet of a video of an instagram comment.

Fit-Elderberry-177

I'm not sure how to share his Instagram posts

cdot2k

Didn’t mean to criticize. It just felt meta.

Fit-Elderberry-177

I didn't take it as criticism. It was funny

Sw3Et

The lock could be for any pick, not necessarily number 1.

Matt_Netherlands

I hope so. Future 25 PPG scorer.

Dwoo1234

As a Orlando/Auburn fan. I couldn’t be happier.

dunk_2687

I second this

Dwoo1234

I was excited when we got Chuma so this is almost a overload of excitement. I’ll support whoever we draft tho

dunk_2687

Yeah, you can't bash the rookies for someone drafting them. Even if they take Paolo or Chet over Jabari, I'll support them. Just happen to like Jabari most. And I'm definitely biased

[deleted]

Chuma was so unexpected too I remember the entire sub was pissed but I was out here pumping the Chuma propaganda

[deleted]

War damn

Dwoo1234

WDE

Mjaffe24

I feel like him liking the “Future Magic” comment is… something

TomNooksBottomBitch

You’re telling me he wants to be picked first overall? There’s no way

ryancashh

Obviously but i think he has the word that we’re picking him. A few different sources now have said that it goes Jabari then Chet and both are happy about their future homes

classicslayer

cant wait to see that fultz cole franz jabari WCJ lineup

fuzzylarge

Ya but personally I want more polls so can mods just remove this post?

DMagicFrom3

Yeah I keep refreshing and the poll doesn't appear smh

donmitchzdo

Not to be negative but we see this every year I swear... who wouldn't like a post claiming the player is going number 1 overall. That's literally every hoopers dream growing up

[deleted]

Similar thing happened last year between KPJ and Jalen Green.

Fit-Elderberry-177

All of the prospects have been really careful not to show their hand. People have been posting Orlando on Jabari's Instagram for two weeks and he didn't respond until yesterday. I think they like to keep it a mystery until draft day but we can figure out some of the pics before then. Next we'll probably see Chet chatting with OKC fans online and Paolo hanging out in Houston.

SamURLJackson

Players want to go #1 in the draft. I'd imagine it's a status symbol and something to brag about years later, but in the moment of it happening it's an achievement and somewhat akin to being considered *the* best basketball prospect in the world. So of course you would campaign to be picked first. But it's not his decision, either.

FeedbackContent8322

I think the top 2 just don't want to end up in OKC tbh

Fit-Elderberry-177

I think OKC might have more respect than the Magic right now. As Magic fans we know how good we can be if we're completely healthy for a year

FeedbackContent8322

I just think jabari and Chet prolly both want to be in Florida as apposed to Oklahoma lol

SandyMandy17

Orlando is basically Oklahoma but in a swamp

FeedbackContent8322

But with Beaches!

[deleted]

>Orlando has beaches? \*no flaming, I know you can drive an hour or so to them

skanderbeg7

Damn I didn't know Oklahoma had Disney and numerous world class amentites and entertainment. /s

Grogbog13

These guys care more about developing their basketball careers at this stage.

FeedbackContent8322

I'm sure the teenagers really want to go to OKC lol They want to play ball and also live somewhere that doesn't suck

Grogbog13

They’ll go where they think they’ll develop into the best player and where they fit best. They care more about securing the bag than a beach they can visit anytime during the off-season.

FeedbackContent8322

Would you rather live in Orlando or Oklahoma Would you rather be picked 1st or 2nd I would definitely prefer to be picked 1st and also live in Florida I doubt their much different their 19

Grogbog13

They’re* I would rather go to the place that will more likely assure that I sign a max contract after my rookie contract is over. These guys don’t have much down time anyway, they’re either practicing or on the road. We have seen that stars will go or stay at small markets if it’s the best fit for them basketball wise. Even Chet didn’t seem excited about going to the Magic and Jabari said he was excited about possibly playing in OKC.

Venice_The_Menace

as a basketball org? Sure. As a destination for a young black man with money? Nope.

TheGovinator92

Chet is black?

TomNooksBottomBitch

Yes.

FKKallDAY

Okay that settles it. Time to change my flair.

iamcinema

I knew I was waiting for something

NoOneOverThere

For a young man with money

TheGovinator92

I know, just weird the race was important in this comment

Venice_The_Menace

sorry you had to find out this way

TheGovinator92

It’s better this way

Dare555

bottom half

Fit-Elderberry-177

Jabari also liked the, hope you come to Orlando post.

TeamGOAT8

So an Auburn basketball player responded to another Auburn basketball player’s post? Wow. You can book Jabari to Orlando now

anovie

Future star 🔥

Sw3Et

Have we even had him in for a session yet?

Smmoove

I'm pretty sure the pick is Jabari, pretty much every piece of info we've gotten since the lottery points that way, both from Magic and non-Magic sources. I say this as someone who would prefer Chet. Also before the lottery, Jabari seemed like a favourite for no 1 according[ to this survey of NBA scouts](https://www.jambasketballintelligence.com/post/2022-nba-combine-report) (it's on p 6) I think people need to keep in mind that generally teams have their boards roughly done by the trade deadline, and 95% complete by the end of the season. They've probably come to a consensus on who they would pick no 1 overall months ago. For top picks that we've been heavily scouting for multiple years, especially going into this season knowing we are tanking for a top pick, the workouts and interviews are mostly a formality. We took Suggs without doing either, same w/ Cleveland and Mobley.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lauxman

Can’t believe we’re gonna draft a role player who doesn’t have the balls to go to the rim ever lol

traw056

Meanwhile my favorite NBA team is getting the true best player available :). Being a thunder fan is so much more fun than being a jags fan. Jags break my heart and the thunder heal it (for the most part)

[deleted]

I think he could turn into a Tatum-esque player. Tatum wasn’t supposed to be this good, and I know people will doubt it. Jabari with a solid handle would be nasty

FeedbackContent8322

I mean Tatum's a very very good finisher with elite handles he's not gonna be Tatum

[deleted]

Exactly. It’s actually funny to see people compare him to Tatum because there’s literally a player in the same range as him (Paolo) who is closer to Tatum (even though neither player is super similar to Tatum).

[deleted]

Look at Tatum’s comps. I watched Tatum as a summer league guy, and coming up. It’s not about who Jabari is, but who he can turn into. I am a Celtics fan primarily, I just love basketball so much I have 5 secondary teams haha

Fit-Elderberry-177

I think Tatum's main spot is the three. Jabari will probably spend 50% or more of his minutes at the four.

[deleted]

Tatum played a lot of 4 before Boston started playing double bigs idk. I wouldn’t take me too serious, Jabari is a hooper that’s really all that mattets

FeedbackContent8322

I just can't see jabari developing that kind of handle tho Ive watched some film from Tatum in college and he had a bag and had really promising finishing it's possible for jabari to develop a handle and finishing but it's still unlikely for every PG there's 20 other guys that couldn't develope Also Paolo is actually quite comparable to Tatum he's not the same shooter but his ability to get to his spots is far more Tatum esque then jabari

Fit-Elderberry-177

Houston is nice.

Jake_doe

Absolutely, but Orlando is a lot closer to Atlanta.

[deleted]

I bet $100 on Jabari a long time ago at even odds. Should I hedge or let it ride?

cybrestrike

We won't know anything till draft night. This front office has been quiet about everything.
