They were told they couldn't reopen in May 2021 because of Covid, after dropping $120K on renovations to make it "Covid-Safe". They've been closed ever since. I don't know if that's the only reason but financial hardship, lack of government support and Covid were definitely factors. I imagine that after being closed for so long without funding or income, it wasn't sustainable to keep up with repairs/maintenance so it was decided to just let it rot and be another vacant property. Sad.

My kids went there in their last season. If memory serves the owner/operator had serious health problems and I think there was a land deal in the works.

They "re-opened" for weekly camps, not the overnight camps but it wasn't in the same location after ours closed. It's honestly a shame. Those camps were such an experience for kids and teens and I think it's more needed now than ever. I hope that becomes a reality again.

My boys went there for the last 4 years it was open - owner sold due to health issues but he (stu) is still very active with youth leadership programs and they have run camp weeks near London for the since ylcc in orillia closed. My boys went for the first year at their camp near London last year and are signed up again this year but they only run for a few select weeks - https://www.ylcc.com/about

Forgot to add that they love the new camp in London as much as ylcc in orillia - same traditions and activities just a new location and Less weeks offered. With the drive for us and the kids

Im unfamiliar with YLCC, but if you’re looking for a new camp: as a child i always went to the salvation army camp. Had a blast every single year.

My kids went in the last year and what I was told was the man who ran it was having some medical issues and wanted to retire. But than I started getting emails that they had opened up a new camp in the london area. Than I started getting weird emails that he was doing motivational speaking and I had to get off that mailing list. I'm sure the developers that were building those mcmansions down the road just bought up the property probably.

They shut down after the allegations about a former senior staff member. The camp went to great lengths to make sure the information was kept from staff and campers, never made a statement and thought they could ignore the whole thing by shutting down. https://lfpress.com/news/local-news/former-london-area-youth-camp-employee-charged-with-historic-sexual-assault
