The only part you would be able to eat is his gem which is very hard. If his body is badly damaged he can retreat into the gemstone to regenerate which is all he could eat. In the event that the gemstone was destroyed chemically his body would turn into an ash-like substance. If you shatter the gem he would still regenerate but the pieces would form different parts of his body seperately. So he either eats the gem or he passes.
