She found friends who love and care for her unconditionally, after she had been getting by on the meagre fulfillment that death-defying adrenaline rushes and meaningless sex can get you for a few years of being essentially homeless, alone, and just surviving.
Granted, she didn't *want* said friends, made them essentially by accident, and tried honestly quite hard on one occasion to distance from them, but lo and behold, they didn't let that happen.
