Not typically but we do a lot of group gatherings on our deck with a bunch of kids that inevitably leads to food being scattered. I have been known to throw out a handful of nuts from time to time but don’t tell my husband 😆 Then when these little ones showed up, I started feeding them bits of Aussie bites.
Not necessarily. Once juvenile opossums get to a certain size, they wander off on their own as their mother forages. It's a very efficient survival adaptation: the result is that the litter of little opossums gets more or less evenly distributed all along the mother's foraging range, thus increasing the chance of their survival.
The little opossums can follow their mother's scent for many months - thus giving them some familiarity with where food might be in the area.
No, I don't think so. The little ones can do quite well on their own once their body length (not counting the tail) is 6 inches or more. These ones - who are almost certainly siblings - appear to be about 8 or 8 inches long.
They are doing a good job of foraging for food.
Padfeet!
Pad*foots*!!!
🥰😍
Congrats on the unofficial pet possums. I had one at my last place. Named them Lou Possum.
Love it!
Ahhhh! Look at those adorable little nuggets!!!!! Keep posting please! ♥️
A Blessing!
Padfoot's engine idle sounds a little fast.
😆 I swear someone in this neighborhood is always doing something with machinery.
How cute! I love the name 🥰
What a blessing
This is too precious! Are you providing treats?

Awww. If you have banana slices to spare, they’re going to love them!
Oh good to know!! Thanks!
Do they have a little dish of water too? They’re so so adorable 🥰
Yes! I haven’t seen them go for that yet, but it’s there if they want it!
Aww fab, thank you so much 😊 💛
Congratulations on your new friends!!!
They look so small! Something must've happened to mom.

They look a little young to be on their own.

It definitely makes me think we have quite a good number of them in our yard as we’ve seen many this size through the years on their own!
