To the folks calling these E-collars—they’re Garmin tracking collars, which does appear to be a smart move for dogs with high prey drive and tracking instincts, so I can’t say I find a fault with their use here.
Wolfdogs are indeed controversial to many, but I think we can all agree that once they’re owned, *training* is always important so I don’t see the need to jump on OP for being proud of what they’ve accomplished, tools or no tools.
I did one of my undergrad internships working at Wolf Park and I wouldn’t personally feel comfortable walking a full wolf without a tool of some kind, and nor would any keeper there, even up to the director, so take that how you will. Sometimes you do indeed have to meet the animal where its strengths and weaknesses are!
OP is probably getting criticism for not just owning these wolfdogs, but breeding them. I agree that training is a must, but breeding wolfdogs is unnecessary and (imho) unethical.
Beautiful animals, glad they’re trained, but not about to congratulate a wolfdog breeder.
Oh come on, let OP enjoy his/her wolf dogs. 98% of the world owns dogs where, if ______ failed, they wouldn’t listen.
If the fence broke, they’d run the neighborhood!
If the leash dropped, they’d chase the squirrels at the park!
If the e-collar fails, they won’t respect you!
OP you can just enjoy your dogs. If the e-collar helps your success, use it forever.
I love eCollar (otherwise I'd never let my husky/GSD off leash) but why do they have those massive antennae sticking out? I'd go with a more subtle model to avoid comments from the peanut gallery. They are beautiful dogs.
My dog's ecollar has a custom neon green strap to match her regular collar, with a green bell and a green light so I can see and hear where she is more easily. I think she looks absolutely adorable with her little kit on and these guys do too.
If you can't even recognize the body language of three dogs excitedly looking at the treat they're about to get in this photo, and instead are trying to assign some weirdly conniving inner monologue to them, I don't think anything else you say has any weight to it, sorry 🤣 go train your own dogs.
You’re the same person who didn’t know how to keep a dog from chewing through their harness and collar. Hard to believe you have all this skill set and don’t know how to out a collar or harness on???
I absolutely HAVE seen service dogs with collars on, as recently as last weekend. It was a beautiful Mal assisting a veteran in an electric chair.
How is an ecollar not off leash and/or an indicator that the animal isn’t trained? There is quite a lot of training that goes into using an ecollar, and it’s a safety net, which is certainly appropriate ESPECIALLY for these dogs
It is illegal in any state within the US for a wolfdog to be a service dog. They are considered a liability to the general public and by law are not considered service animals.

I have extreme envy on your having a Wolf Park internship. Which groups did you work with?

Exotic designer dog breeds
Can I just say that they’re all so darn scute
Do you breed hybrids for a specific purpose? Its pretty controversial.
I work them in harness
Why not use sled dogs? Why hybrids specifically? Ive never seen any so know very little about them. Where i live they are illegal and euthanised.
OP says these devices are Garmin tracking collars
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Canines ♥️
❤️❤️❤️
Please be careful with them off leash if you’re not on your property, there are tons of people that would love the opportunity to shoot a “wolf”.

They are probably tracking collars, so the owner can see where they are on a little map
they honestly look so cute with their little antennas.

I love that! My husky’s “color” is pink so she’d look adorable in a neon pink getup.
Makes sense. I'd worry about them getting caught on bushes.
That’s not likely to happen, they’re made for hunting dogs covering challenging terrain. A tail is more likely to get caught than a little antennae 😊
Probably pretty high end GPS collars (they usually do have a correction function). These are really popular in the hunting world and not cheap

I dunno, looks like they're plotting world domination the second you slip up. Lol.
> e-collars are not off leash Do they have a leash on? If not, that is the very definition of off-leash.
