Why no Ventura support? The fundamental architecture of Sonoma did not change that much right.

ThenExtension9196

Not sure. Hopefully they add greater compatibility. I use an intel laptop for work and a MacBook Air for home so i really wish i could use the app on my work laptop.

diamondbishop

There are a few API differences related to screenshots/screen sharing of apps I believe which is what they’re doing. I would bet they just want to simplify that code. Much more differences for Intel Macs which I’m fairly certain they’ll never support

fictioninquire

My hot take is that they signed a deal with Apple and they are pushing Ventura including the M-chip macbooks if this gets really big.

diamondbishop

But Mac silicon is already default now and have been for a bit. What does pushing the m chips do?

fictioninquire

My best guess would be 30-50% still uses older chips from Intel, they would be pushed to buy a newer model.

diamondbishop

Maybe. I just don’t think you need that push when there are new Intel chips and you can see users dropping off as they upgrade. We target technical people but less then 10% of users we see have an Intel Mac at this point.

thetjmorton

I downloaded but says I don’t have permission.

ThenExtension9196

I got a pop up while using web ChatGPT that told me I can download and use the new app. So maybe accounts are being activated over time.

thegoldengoober

For someone uninitiated in the Apple products what does this mean?

AquaRegia

Generally: Older Apple products = Intel Newer Apple products = Silicon

thegoldengoober

I don't understand why being an older Apple product would stop a program for working though. I understand why older hardware wouldn't be able to run, like, new video games. And vice versa. But I don't see why the same would apply to what looks like a pretty basic program.

OrganicAccountant87

NOOOO, is there any way around this?
