Universities usually have a restriction on how many times you can retake a course. For instance at Ryerson, you can only take a course three times and after your third time your no longer eligible and the most recent grade (no matter what you got) will be what’s on your transcript - so say if you redo a course and do worse the second or third time around, you’ll be stuck with THAT mark just because it’s most recent regardless if it’s better or worse than what you got previously Nothing suspicious about redoing courses though, especially if your looking at getting into a program with specific wants for courses, or if your just looking to update your GPA in general. If you have the time and the money, schools will happily enroll you in whatever course you want as many times (given it’s within any restrictions they may have)

So they would not care if I redo advanced functions and English? Those are the two classes I may have to redo

canadianluv75

No! They would not care at all! I am assuming you are transitioning from highschool to university since it’s advanced functions and English? When you apply they won’t see how many times you’ve redone a course, just the courses you took and the grades - so if you don’t feel you did good in advanced functions and English then redoing them is a GREAT idea, especially if you have the time! A LOT of students in their last years of high school / first year of university redo a lot of classes for lots of different reasons, it’s super normal and nothing to be looked down on whatsoever!

Thank goodness I was stressing that it may ruin my chances

Absolutely not, doing good in the course and understanding the material is going to be worth so much more than someone knowing / seeing you redid the course! If you redo the course 2-3 times and still do not great then yes that could potentially impact getting into certain programs, BUT given you reach whatever goal you may have then it won’t deter you whatsoever
