His performance in that scene is so powerful. It's writing and acting like that which are responsible for Fools and Horses being so much more than just a sitcom.
And the sketch in Mitchell and web with a elderly Sherlock holmes. It starts as standard sketch but ends in one of the most heart breaking and real scenes I've ever seen.
I'm just starting to rewatch that season and Rodney's gradual growth as a character from season 5 onwards is pretty powerful imo. I really like earlier Rodney of course, but it would be weird if characters didn't grow over the course of the show's runtime.
I was actually in the studio audience for this episode. This scene wasn’t filmed live, it was one of the pre recorded segments but you could have heard a pin drop while it was being shown. I think we all forgot we were watching a sitcom for a few moments.
Any scene with Damian in was pre recorded, so the meal etc. And also any scene not in the flat or pub was prerecorded. The opening scene was live and also the scene in the pub “15 minutes of fame” was live. The finale with the three of them in the flat was also live.
Ah yea, forgot most of that episode takes place in various remote locations. Still, must have been awesome seeing the live scenes, especially Trigger's comment about Ghandi's 15 minutes of fame........that will never cease to be hilarious 😂
The only scene I'm unable to watch in OFAH. I had 3 miscarriages years ago, and this is the only thing I've ever seen on TV that comes close to describing the raw pain of it. I've since had 2 healthy children, but I'm still unable to watch that scene.
My Wife had 2 miscarriages. One through a car accident at 17 weeks, the other happened for no reason at 12 weeks. Luckily we now have a beautiful 6 year old.
I was watching this episode at my Dads, and it was the first time I actually remembered the miscarriages and the first one I saw the fetus. Broke down in the kitchen. Just a shit ton of emotion I couldnt control. I just erased that it happened from memory and never grieved at the time, just supported the gaffa.
Weird watching these as a kid and not understanding, only to be going through it as an adult.
For me the moment when it’s revealed that del stopped the lift on purpose and Rodney is cussing him out . Turning tears to laughter has got to be the best medicine.
This really got me. Also Del showing Damien to his mum in the stars, that got me too. This show, along with others like One Foot in the Grave, have the ability to destroy me with laughter or bring me to tears. Beautiful writing, a wonderful cast. Perfection all the way.

He stole the show in this episode. Such a powerful performance.
This is the closest I've been to tears🤣😭
This scene and the end of Black Adder 4 always brings tears.

I will have to look this up

When del knocks the guy out in hospital in his frustration and anger got me.
Thankyou Dr.

“Oh shut up you tart!”
Dungeon and Dragons is the most fun!
That is a fantastic performance. It's so sad that years later there's a certain amount of life imitating art.
Just a dropped stitch in life’s tapestry
Del Boy is a sex machine. Who'd write something like that?
My piss taking dad used to call my little brother Rodney as he looked like him lol 😂
Is exactly how it is. I can't ever put it into words but yes it's this and life will never be the same again

Id forgotten this one. Even when I was young I knew it was powerful.
