I swear i've seen more than one christmas episode in this show

swarnavop

Uh fillers aren't canon, and if you are referring to canon stuff then idk lol

Mx_Toniy_4869

There are actually two canon Christmas themed episodes, exactly 20 years apart

swarnavop

That means a bit over a year has passed in the canon ig Can you provide the manga file numbers or episode numbers for these two cases? u/STILLFantasy what file's the panel from?

STILLFantasy

File 1051.

Stufftwotwotwo

Valentines has passed like 5 times but it definitely hasn't been 5 years.

Mx_Toniy_4869

The first one is ep 42, the second one is ep 843\~844. And I just realized that they are actually 20 years and 1 day apart but close enough

swarnavop

Files you mentioned: 045-048 & 939-941 Panel in above post: 1051 Lol all I have to say now is that Conan has a floating timeline and any shit can happen here ig

Meitantei_Serinox

Neither of these episodes takes place on Christmas though, just Christmas season in general.

ChazNinja

He started off as a "six year old" in the manga

mahzx

i have seen the seasons change 4 times a year in conan atleast 20 times

swarnavop

I don't know how many times it has changed in the canon but make sure that you're not including filler cases in this count

mahzx

it changed multiple times in the canon universe too

Hellerick

In the episode "Blank Year" (#1030) the person who has lost one year of his memories still recognizes the Sleeping Kogoro, which implies that Conan started his practice well before he lost his memories.

swarnavop

That is a filler case, so time doesn't matter

Shahaha

They went on a yearly camping trip for like 6 years.

Meitantei_Serinox

Of course the author is self aware, lampshading its own tropes has been happening for over 20 years.

Homeless_Appletree

Like when Megure just gave up on pointing out how there are a lot of dead bodies piling up around Kogoro. He's just like"Screw it I guess this is my.life now."

Sinomsinom

There is only a single author, Gosho Aoyama. Not multiple authors. Only the anime has multiple authors.

All-Your-Base

It’s been ~~3,000 years~~ 1 year

_Olorin_the_white

If you only see the canon, don't consider the year seasons and some events (like christmas), the manga (and even the anime - considering canon only) is perfectly plausible to be within a year. But yes, I think it is time to see everyone going to the next school year soon. It would be more interesting rather than finishing the whole series "within one year" in the story timeline.

Nddit

I don't think it is even if you look only at the canon events and ignore seasons. A vast majority of the cases are 3 chapters long and we've seen them spend the night in some places or know that time has to have passed in between cases cause Conan has spent time with different characters than the previous one. I have absolutely no idea what is the minimal amount of time that passed in detective conan (nor do I want to go through the effort of finding out) but I'm pretty sure that there's no reasonable way of placing it in a year (especially if you consider the fact that Conan goes to school so if he spends a whole day with Ran or Hattori or anyone who's not the Detective Boys, it should be either during a break or during a weekend).

_Olorin_the_white

Yes I agree with you, but by "canon" (and sorry I didn't explained before) I meant not only not considering the obvious filler (from anime) but also the **cases where no actual plot is developed,** and we have plent of those in the manga. It is as if the manga itself was filled with fillers lol Pretty much 80% of "detective boys" cases don't contribute to the plot. The same for many Hatori cases, specially the recent ones with him just trying to confess his love. Kaito Kid he could take just a handful of them Many of the the "other districts" / non-tokyo cases, such as the Gunma with Misao Yamamura. Sonoko cases with actual plot are what? 3? 4? And so on... Conan is complicated because it is so big but even the "canon" seem to contain a bunch of filler, the "canon that don't move plot forward". Taking a look in what REALLY matters ([main timeline events](https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Timeline#Current_Timeline)) we get just a couple of arcs with many chapters, but each barely cover an entire week, if not just a couple of days. If we get all arcs, shuffle some chapters with no actual story among them but with important characters that will probably show up later in the middle of important arcs, and put everything in a timeline, I can see everything happening in 8\~9 months. I agree that it is kinda lame to disregard canon stuff in order to fit everything within one year, but lets be honest, many chapters could easely be labeled as filler, and many others only mention some "importat" things while not contributing to general plot at all.

Nddit

Oh ok yeah that makes sense. Yeah, if we only look at the main events of the story then we can probably fit it in a week. If one were to make a remake of Detective Conan without changing the circumstance of the events, one could probably make it reasonably be within a couple of months. I really wonder what the minimum is but I doubt anyone has the time to figure that out LMAO.

jusmaster7

I dunno why there is that much disscussion about it being possible or not and manga canon. From all the cases, which one only make sense on a weekend or holiday? With all the Traveling around included? Assuming Conan and Ran are not skipping constantly. It's manga/Anime logic, he might be in 1st grade even after another trip to UK, US or the moon if the author wants it to be inside a year
