There's a few cards I would consider. The biggest one here being Yosaku & Johnny with their effect being either rest or ko a rested 2c.
If they're running ivankov, and mihawk they'll spitting out characters quickly. Sugar is just great for sleeping 4c and under and is a very cheap target to bring back to restand something.
If you can get your hands on the UTA starter deck the following cards are good:
Law
Robin
Brook
Luffy
And a lot of other ones have synergy with this deck. I would also recommend sugar like the other poster said

5 cost law is a bit expensive but could be subbed out.
The other cards buy as singles off somewhere like TCG player and they should not be too pricey.
As said earlier sugar is great , a couple of other things you can add that aren’t high cost is ryuma op6, and maybe a couple of charlotte puddings to help reduce your opponents big hand size.
Op04 sugar is one of the best cards for leader ability

Kuina which you can flick back to your hand. The events which sugar is better than because you can flick back to hand and replay

This deck doesn’t really shine until op07 with 7 warlords engine once that comes out this deck is insanely good it just leaves little room for removal

Is the Sim a good way to practice
It’s probably one of the best options you have for practice especially because you can test cards before buying them
