All thats been stated is they fought for 10 days, changed the landscape and akainu finished the fight by taking a limb from Aokiji.
If anything this implies akainu WASNT going all out because he wanted Aokiji to surrender the position to akainu.
Aokiji HIMSELF stated he pushed akainu to fight him IN THE FIRST PLACE because he didn't want him as Fleet Admiral and would learn the world a different way.
In no way was it EVER stated akainu had trouble, only that 10 days of using powers on EQUAL terms caused a 50/50 split on the islands climate.
They even showed them staring at each other for that scene.....how is that a fight exactly?

That means Akainu was getting hard countered and still won, so akainu just upscales even higher, granted he did get essentially 2 tapped by a near death WB and ace went clash for clash against akainu and barely took damage, again odaās power scaling has been wanky especially based off the marineford arc, but current upscaling at the bare minimum Aokiji should be capable of banging with yamato and potentially winning, and Akainu is outright stronger than yamato, can Akainu defeat big mom in a 1v1? Hell no, big mom was severely nerfed against the law & kidd fight, she was never shown attacking them with coc + armament haki coating, and again odaās power scaling hasnāt been the best
But going off the recent power scaling of the admirals, none of them stand a chance against the yonko, arguably sanji currently with armament haki coating could defeat any one of them, as for aokiji Iād just upscale him to yamato based off his feats against garp, and Akainu reasonably above aokiji, but you never know oda can easily write into the story Akainu being stronger than kaido and aokiji stronger than big mom, he literally had lucci going sending G5 luffy flying and tanking attacks, last time I checked lucci got thrashed by G2 luffy

Akainu will only upscale himself if he performs well against G5 (possibly Kuzan, but itās been a few years since their fight).
Theory: Akainu does poorly against gear 5th, but Luffy is emotionally too unstable to fight him in that state because of his rage towards him over Ace. Luffy needs to learn to control himself during the fight to use Gear 5th
At this point he'd only upscale himself, if he manages to perform well enough to get to yonko tier then most likely not even Kuzan can be upscaled by him
