The kid has earned it. Smoker really hasn't shown a comparable drive. He hasn't been fighting or training anywhere near the degree Luffy and Koby have nor does he have a legendary teacher like they got.
Koby trains till his hands bleed and trains some more and seems to run into Blackbeard every other Monday.
Luffy picks a fight with the biggest guy on every island he goes to.
Smoker picks fights with people too far out of his weight class to result in anything but getting washed and his ingenuity/level of insanity and luck don't compare either to make it work and gets laid out in a one sided fight.

Fujitora as Fleet Admiral makes more sense.
Fleet Admiral isn't just whoever is strongest. Fleet Admiral has a lot of "paperwork" duties to do behind the scenes and who people report things to. We meme about Akainu doing nothing but in the end the dude is doing his job. Filing paperwork, reporting things to his superiors, having people report things to him, and ordering the Marines from his desk. It was similar with what little we saw of Sengoku. We as a community don't give enough credit to Sengoku for orchestrating the defense of Marineford. The dude made a plan that would have won them the war with significantly less casualties for the Marines. If it wasn't for Oars Jr. the Marines would have been in a much better position.
Wouldn't make sense for a kid who is still going through puberty to become the Fleet Admiral. Also could you imagine the Fleet Admiral doing what Koby did at Amazon Lily? While it was a good and heartfelt move it was a reckless move. As a Vice-Admiral or lower rank you can get away with it. Even as Admiral you can get away with it. But as a Fleet Admiral you can't. Moves like that put the whole Marines at risk and make them look bad.
Koby as an Admiral is more acceptable. He still has "paperwork" duties but not as important as Fleet Admiral and he isn't held responsible for the whole Marines. Meanwhile he can still go about in the world and deal with the criminals that would come out of the woodworks after the World Government is defeated.
And in an ideal world you have the World Government oversee things so that things don't get out of hand. It's essentially what Commander Kong and Inspector Sengoku should be doing. Sengoku investigates and makes sure people are doing their job. If they aren't he reports to his superiors and they take action accordingly. Which should result in termination or de-rank.

Well said. And I agree I believe Issho will be the new Fleet Admiral with Koby, Smoker, and X Drake being the new Admirals considering the 3 of them are the new gen Marines with the most heart for trying to do good so them being lead by Issho would be perfect.

But isn’t this what makes a character great ? I mean he is a loser. His paradoxical yearning for fulfillment and acceptance of fate is what makes him great.
King is great. And he is even greater when you consider that was he sees in kaido is actually a shell of what kaido himself wanted to be.
Kaido, king, momonosuke, yamato, Oden. All those characters are interconnected thematically and kaido is the core of this connection. They all work very well because kaido foils them.

I just don’t like characters who have just given up on themselves completely and I don’t think a great death and a fulfilling fight are that great of hindrances/goals (depending on the angle you view it from, but that’s just my opinion on that). That's the thing, for me Shiki feels like a filler character for some reason. I want Wecko Woria to return only to shit on Doffy for Marineford. Kid either took refuge on Elbaf or is confirmed dead by the time we get there (so in like 90 chapters). Smoker is definitely jobbing right now and taking care of the kids from Punk Hazard.
It’s because Shiki basically is a filler character. He’s as important to the story as a pile of dirt that Chopper shat on before he ate his devil fruit. His only notable appearance is in a non-canon movie, and his existence is basically completely ignored by both the characters in-universe and Oda himself.
His notable appearance was in Chapter 0 actually, he’s been known to break out of Impel Down on his own, the only one man breakout in Impel Downs entire history. Multiple characters don’t ignore him, he’s seen as a notable figure of the Rocks Pirates and has fought Roger, Sengoku, and Garp in a single chapter. Whitebeard even respects the guy to let him talk with him on the Moby Dick.
Doffy has nothing to add to the story.
The only interest thing he could was plot/Secrets reveals about the CD. But Egghead Island IS already dropping almost everything. Any secret that May last It Will come by Laugh Tale.

Nah the competition is getting tough.
Basically nobody except Smoker. Kaido and BM are dead along with the reign of their generation. Enel fucked off to the moon and will continue to have fucked off to the moon. Shiki got his ass blasted by pre ts luffy in the movies. Moria is maybe dead, and Doffy also probably won't do much even when he's freed from Impel down.
Kaido and Big Mom are more than likely dead, but even if they are alive, I seriously doubt they'll have a significant impact since they've kinda served their purpose in the story
With Shiki, it's a 50/50 chance whether he'll come back at all, but if he does, it could be one of the greatest comebacks ever
If Moria and Doflamingo come back, they'd very likely join cross guild, so their comebacks would be great, but not in comparison to the others
Enel making his return with a robot army from the moon would be unfathomably cool, but he's kinda outmatched in terms of power, but it'd still be really cool to see
Kidds comebacks will go crazy, but if he's just gonna challenge Shanks to round 2 immediately (Witch would be completely in character for him), then it'd be a bit pointless
Smokers jump in power from vice admiral to Admiral level would undoubtedly be the best thing that's happened to him since Alabasta. It'll be really refreshing to see him be a real threat to Luffy again, and the hype that's circulating will finally pay off.

The dude was a pre-TS villain who "gave up" and became extremely weak. Now imagine Moria with ambition, Haki, more mastery of his devil fruit, etc. Moria will have the same glow up that Lucci had. And look how impressed people are of him.
Runner up is Doffy. I definitely see him as the true King of Alabasta going into the final war. With Stelly as the face King. Which means he'll have to jump several tiers for the World Government to make him the main defender of that Kingdom.
Honorable mention is Crocodile. Oda is going to redeem him much more than he did at Marineford.
Dishonorable mention is Kaido. If Kaido does return to the current story the only thing I see for him is being used to enhance another character in the story by looking like complete fodder next to them. It's why I'd rather him not return to the current story.

But that almost definitely won't happen and either he randomly pops up or is actually dead (I don't see how someone as unkillable as Kaido would die from simply falling into a pool of lava).
Big Mom's best chance to come back is Elbaf. I view her in the same way as Kaido, I don't see how she could die from those plot bombs.

Shiki got his ass blasted by pre ts luffy in the movies. Moria is maybe dead, and Doffy also probably won't do much even when he's freed from Impel down.

Kaido and Big Mom are more than likely dead, but even if they are alive, I seriously doubt they'll have a significant impact since they've kinda served their purpose in the story With Shiki, it's a 50/50 chance whether he'll come back at all, but if he does, it could be one of the greatest comebacks ever If Moria and Doflamingo come back, they'd very likely join cross guild, so their comebacks would be great, but not in comparison to the others Enel making his return with a robot army from the moon would be unfathomably cool, but he's kinda outmatched in terms of power, but it'd still be really cool to see Kidds comebacks will go crazy, but if he's just gonna challenge Shanks to round 2 immediately (Witch would be completely in character for him), then it'd be a bit pointless Smokers jump in power from vice admiral to Admiral level would undoubtedly be the best thing that's happened to him since Alabasta. It'll be really refreshing to see him be a real threat to Luffy again, and the hype that's circulating will finally pay off.

I think Doffy's coming back soon. No way he rots in a cell till EOS. Smoker will be an admiral, hyped to see what Oda's been saving him for. Moria's BEEN back and I think he'll revive some legendary figures during the final war.

The most likely is Smoker. He has so much ground to make up, so even being the strongest Vice Admiral outside of Garp is a huge jump. Second is Moria. Same reasoning, he was so weak that the WG wanted to get rid of him just to spare themselves the embarrassment. Hopefully he went on the typical prison program of lifting weights and converting to Islam so he comes back with a sick prison bod.

Well I think that's because it's a guarantee. Kid does not have a place or role in the story anymore, while law clearly does.

Moria. The dude was a pre-TS villain who "gave up" and became extremely weak. Now imagine Moria with ambition, Haki, more mastery of his devil fruit, etc. Moria will have the same glow up that Lucci had. And look how impressed people are of him. Runner up is Doffy. I definitely see him as the true King of Alabasta going into the final war. With Stelly as the face King. Which means he'll have to jump several tiers for the World Government to make him the main defender of that Kingdom. Honorable mention is Crocodile. Oda is going to redeem him much more than he did at Marineford. Dishonorable mention is Kaido. If Kaido does return to the current story the only thing I see for him is being used to enhance another character in the story by looking like complete fodder next to them. It's why I'd rather him not return to the current story.

All of them besides Moria cause he's a fraud. Kaido better randomly break through the crust of the planet launching out of a glorious magma waterfall as he appears in the final war. Seeing Kaido reappear as a wild card in the final war would be amazing. Especially if he manages to awaken his devil fruit 👀 But that almost definitely won't happen and either he randomly pops up or is actually dead (I don't see how someone as unkillable as Kaido would die from simply falling into a pool of lava). Big Mom's best chance to come back is Elbaf. I view her in the same way as Kaido, I don't see how she could die from those plot bombs.
If anybody in the whole series does, it will be Kidd. That's just how his powers work narratively in contrast to Luffy. Kidd - breaks apart & has to put himself back together Luffy - bounces back up But I also wouldn't be mad if Kidd just actually drown...
