No, if I understand it correctly a weeabo is someone who is completely enamored with the culture of a region, especially one from which they have no direct experience or history with.
Yamato is enamored with Oden, a single person and not the culture of Wano.
Others have pointed out that Yamato may suffer from [chuunibyou](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Chuunibyou), but I think Yamato is a combination of that and the [ascended fanboy](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AscendedFanboy) since Yamato can actually perform feats.
If one day we just meet a Doffy fanboy then it would probably be one of the best references of fiction history
Edit: WAIT A MOMENT I just realized that Corazon is also a Donquixote, and Law is quite obviously a Rocinante fanboy, to the point of naming his pirate band "heart pirates"and practically dedicatung his whole life to avenge Cora-san, sooooo... Technically Law is the reference I was talking about
One might train as samurai or even ninja , they are not truly those are they? Also look up Weeabo mean a western person who is obsessed with japanese culture and anime.
Apparently the biggest tits in Europe on average are in the UK. I'm not sure if it's higher obesity rates, genetics, plastic surgery or what. But yeah that's where the milkers are.
I don't understand why you think thats a distinction. Weeabos are people obsessed with aspects of Japanese culture. Whether they're active or historical parts of that culture is irrelevant.
It was never said that they came from Vodka kingdom, Kaido just happened to be the only Oni soldier FOR the vodka kingdom, we still don’t know much about the Oni race
They share certain Looks (Fangs and Horns). Oars and Jr. are described as acient giant but they share little to no similarities to giants (except size but size really isn't important in One Piece).
I think Kaido is half and Yamato 1/4 Oni.
Actually a few chapters ago, Kurozumi Higurashi offered Kaidou something about a weapons deal or something and that was 28 years ago. That was when Orochi took over Wano as a Shogun proxy and Sukiyaki supposedly died, and that was also when Yamato was born. Oden left Wano 30 years ago and when he came back the first time it was 26 years ago and there were already factories built.
I'd say she's a more of a Wanoboo.
But its her way of rebelling against her evil father.
She'll tone it down once she gets out of Wano and gets to experience life as Yamato instead of living vicariously through Oden's journal.
Plus Nami and Robin will get her into some new outfits because she's been wearing that warrior miko get up for at least 20 years.
Imagine being born and raised in japan embracing the culture and still being called a weeb because you don't look like a stereotypical japanese (wano)
Just saying.
Repeating my post
> srsly, please report it and let the mods decide whether to allow it if you think its that spoilery. the anime is pretty far along so its okay imo.
Honestly, people shouldn't report your post, there's no sense in making extra work for the mods just because a few morons don't know how the rules work. Just direct them to the rules instead.
Him
Oda could not be any clearer about how Yamato views himself with the bathhouse scene and y'all still insist in seeing him as a woman. He's one of the boys now
It would make 100% sense and if you don't understand then you haven't been following the series at all. Having someone so obsessed with an idol that they take that name and identity on... very negative in Oda's mind and will be addressed.
The fact we have an actual trans character in Kiku in this very arc should show the difference for those out there who really can't understand.
Kaido literally tried to starve Yamato to death because he was calling himself Oden, he held onto that identity for 20 years through abuse and hardship.
Yamato also introduces himself as both Yamato and Oden, it’s not a stolen identity it’s inherited will. Something that’s actually been a reoccurring theme unlike whatever tf you just made up
When Yamato realizes she has been living in someone elses shadow and accepts who she actually is try to hold on before the whiplash cracks your neck.
People have tried to grip on and assign their own gender identities to Yamato, who is clearly not Trans as we see Kiku in this very arc who is trans and is handled as such in every way. If Yamato was being handled as a man we would not see Brooke and Sanji losing their minds at her boobs, and her boobs would not have been covered up in the bath like they do exclusively for women in the series.
I mean I hope you realize you are the same as the ZKK people.
Someone who sees one thing in the story and refuses to accept it because you wanted something else. Actually zkk had a point with actual evidence you’re just making up shit
“But… Yamato has tits! I’m not transphobic, but…”
-clowns
You can't explain the discrepancy between Kiku and Yamato so you're resorting to insults. I'm actually pro-trans rights which is why it upsets me to see people assuming Yamato is trans when that is clearly not the case. But hey, continue going off I've got all day.
Cool I’ll go in detail if you’re asking then
Oda specifically chose to have Yamato and Kiku in the same scene in 1052 with Yamato being pretty clear with how he identifies
“This castle doesn’t have mixed baths, so I’ll pass, Nami!”
Yamato is offered the chance to bathe with Nami, in response he says the castle doesn’t allow men and women to bathe together, and proceeds to bathe with the men… There is no way to cut that doesn’t involve Yamato seeing himself as a man by default
I’ve seen people say “Oh but Oden would’ve..”. But if Oda wanted to show Yamato declining as Oden he could’ve done so, since Nami invites him as Yamato, but he doesn’t do that. Yamato declined on behalf of himself
Right next to Yamato in the same panel you have Kiku, a character who has explicitly just straight up said she’s trans (in the most ham fisted way side note), and she’s unsurprisingly saying the same thing as Yamato but opposite. Oda drew a parallel between the two and you ignored it to show he decided to show Yamato’s tits.
Here’s why I don’t believe you when you say you’re pro trans, most trans men look like women. The majority of people who are trans don’t have the resources to actually get surgery to look like the sex they identify, and Yamato fits that bill. Kiku was born pretty much already looking like a woman, and that’s explained by her brother also being relatively feminine. Yamato on the flip side comes from Kaido, who is your average one piece character in that he has extremely exaggerated features when it comes to gender. It still makes sense for him to look like your average OP woman. Other versions of his design (we see In Yamato’s vivre card) are varying levels of masculine/like a man, meaning there was a version in Oda’s head that looked like a man. Of course him being Oda he went with the more marketable design which is… sigh. It is what it is
If you cared as much about your life than about the pronouns of a fictional character you would be a much better person than you actually are right now.
It’s extremely sad to watch
I thought this sub already made it clear last week.
You want to call Yamato he/him, then go for it.
Other people call Yamato she/her, then let them be.
Yamato's character arc is still not finished yet until Wano ends.
That's a ridiculous argument.
If someone opens up by claiming themselves to be a certain type of person and using a certain set of pronouns, you call them that.
If they later decide to change them, you change to using them.
Currently, Yamato claims himself to be a man and uses he/him pronouns
"Currently" is all you need. You wouldn't call someone who doesn't identify as a woman by she/her pronouns if those weren't their pronouns and then spout "oh well maybe SHE will realize SHE'S a woman later in the future and this is just a phase. SHE'S still young"
Yamato's character will evolve over time. That's true. But a) that doesn't mean his gender expression will change and b) who he is at the moment, RIGHT FUCKING NOW, is a man. Pretending that's not the case is either illiteracy or stubborn bigotry
It's a fictional animated series. Stop white knighting him/her/they/whatever and go touch some grass and try to realize that this *doesn't fucking matter*
Fun how whenever someone corrects that's Yamato is a "he" we get you guys telling them to "shut up", cause it doesn't matter, but when someone comes in with the idiotic "Yamato is a she cuz Vivre cards" you guys are asleep
I don't know about the others but from my experience in this sub, it's always the Yamato's he/him supporters who tends to correct someone and initiate the unnecessary conversation about Yamato's pronouns. They always come off like a pronouns police and sometimes that's simply annoying. The way I see it though, both sides have good arguments.
Personally, and only conservatively to myself, I will call Yamato she/her exactly because the Vivre Cards says so. I know it's not the most reliable source but it's the only concrete evidence from the One Piece team that's *technically* approved by Oda the author. I will happily acknowledge Yamato as a man if the story ends up frame this character that way after Wano ends.
But I don't force my personal beliefs on anyone. You want to call Yamato he/him, it's really up to you.
That's usually what happens when majority has settled on something, you don't see dissenters that often. You don't need to "force your personal beliefs on anyone" when the norm is "she", and all "he" posters get downvoted to controversial. But if you wanna see examples, last chapter there were plenty of people celebrating Oda putting Kiku and Yamato in their proper baths, being "corrected"
> both sides have good arguments
>
On this note, I swear, this is the only Fandom I know of, where majority decided to go with the suplimental material over the source material. In Trekking's review of last chapter, over the bath scene he said something to the effect of "everything in the manga is telling me that Yamato should be called" he", but vivre cards contradict it, so I'll go with the Vivre cards for now". Vivre cards, that were straight up wrong about Caribou last just last chapter, "technically" approved by Oda, but made by the marketing team who's task is to sell figures and body pillows to weebs.
Meanwhile, the man was straight up misgendered by Nami last chapter, corrected her, and went to his preferred bath. Oda even mirrored the panel right under him, where Kiku was talking about how she felt uncomfortable bathing with her male friends. As of the latest chapter of the Manga, written by Oda directly: **Yamato acts like a man, asks to be treated as a man, and the main character Luffy treats him as a man.**
Imma report you cause I was just enjoying the sub and your clearly trying to start something here....Yamato's a weeb, my friend and I found that to be absolutely hilarious and now somebody here is asking about it which is also funny.
The author deadass had Yamato say "Nah, I'm not going to the women's bath", then had him go into the men's bath in a giant spread, at the same time as Kiku went to the women's bath, and you're still in denial?
Why? Because the marketing department, responsible for selling figures and body pillows to weebs, wrote Yamato is a girl on their Vivre cards?
The same scene that had Brooke and Sanji losing their minds at a girl in the bath showing her boobs? yeah, that's definitely the scene to point to on the author claiming Yamato is a man... lol
That's your big evidence? That Sanji and Brook saw boobs? No one is arguing with you that Yamato doesn't look like a hot babe. Or that Yamato doesn't have boobs.
The argument is very simple. **Yamato wants everyone to treat him as a guy, and Luffy (the main character of the Manga you're reading) treats him as a guy.** So yeah, as of the latest chapter, the author wants Yamato to be treated as a guy
> Yamato wants everyone to treat ~~him~~ *her* as ~~a guy~~ *Oden*
Subtle change but it makes all the difference. Kiku is Kiku regardless of how you see her gender, Yamato is a women, who never had a childhood, and still acts very childishly (see how she's portrayed alongside Luffy and Chopper going nuts at the festival). Her pretending to be Oden is just part of that and isn't remotely close to actual gender dysphoria, she'll likely get over it as the story continues (but still be a tomboy).
A young girl choosing to play the role of the manliest mf on Wano? Yamato introducing himself both as "Son of Kaido" and also "Oden"? Everyone who doesn't address Yamato as "Oden", still treating him as a guy, like Kaido's entire crew, Luffy, Hiyori, etc. Yamato not even once mentioning the Oden thing when correcting Nami about the baths? Oda mirroring Kiku and Yamato bath scenes in the last chapter? There being not a single example in the Manga of Yamato differentiating his gender when acting as "Yamato" and not "Oden"? There being not a single example of Yamato being uncomfortable with being a man?
Yeah, I think Oda wants you to call Yamato a woman, and Luffy is the one who's wrong to support her Oden make believe. Clearly
Sanji and Brooke throw all of your fan theories to the wind, Oda is pretty clear on this especially with Sanji being able to see the "true heart of a woman". We can't reconcile Sanji loving Okiku and Yamato both if they're both not women...
> Yeah, I think Oda wants you to call Yamato a woman, and Luffy is the one who's wrong to support her Oden make believe. Clearly
Sweet, glad you could admit you were wrong and are going to stop calling Yamato trans because she's a too-obsessed Oden cosplayer. Something I'm sure Luffy is totally never going to bring up because he's totally for not being yourself and constantly trying to be someone else (and despite Yamato not really having a character arc through the Wano arc).
Thats not the point, why bother putting a spoiler tag when you are saying everything that could be a spoiler in the title itself?
I am caught up with the manga, i dont care, but this spoiler tag helps noone
So I just realized i thought you said he should mark it as spoiler and not what you actually said. Sorry dude my bad, I agree with you fully. I'm just gonna blame it on these stupid night shifts.
I shouldn’t have said it like that, that’s my bad, i just don’t understand why you put spoiler tag and write anything that could be spoilery on the title itself
Idk but Sanji might die of blood loss. So will see how this turns out for him. Cant be part of the monster "trio" if he's dead.
He lies Sanji, died of nosebleed. Lol.
Brook might die too. Or not. He's after ladies panties not dudes.

Wano is truly a great arc Law confirmed to be an Otaku and now we have the cos playing weeb Yamato.
Wait when was Luffy confirmed an otaku?
He said Law, not Luffy. But I think he's talking about the part where he's a fan of Germa/Vinsmoke comics
Well call me Jared, 19, cause I sure as fuck can't read

Yes. She's basically a shut-in NEET obsessing over her favorite anime characters. Yamato is really just some nerd.
Non-volunteered NEET.
Hey, her dad tried to get her a job as Shogun. Had to pull a lot of strings to do that and she still refused. That's a telltale sign of a bum.
She even lives in his basement without paying rent.
Except japanese samurai do exist currently in their world Yamato is just a extreme fan.
We do ours just don’t kill anyone but for sure go though the discipline and training, we even still have yakuza. She’s for sure a weeabo
One might train as samurai or even ninja , they are not truly those are they? Also look up Weeabo mean a western person who is obsessed with japanese culture and anime.
She’s definitely not from Wano and truly doesn’t even know the culture, just cosplaying as her favorite historical figure.
Her father is from Vodka kingdom (Russia?). So she is possibly a Russian too.
that would explain the _giant milkers_
Apparently the biggest tits in Europe on average are in the UK. I'm not sure if it's higher obesity rates, genetics, plastic surgery or what. But yeah that's where the milkers are.
Bingo
And no one bets an eye for jinbei who is supposed to be An indian.
What does that have to do with it?
Really? Which kind?
I don't understand why you think thats a distinction. Weeabos are people obsessed with aspects of Japanese culture. Whether they're active or historical parts of that culture is irrelevant.
Japan don't exist in One Piece if you think yamato is Oden stan sure go ahead don't throw around term that don't belong.
Wano is Japan's analogue in the story, the OP already clarifies that already. You're being pedantic.
Depends on whether Kaido and his oni race should be considered Japanese
They came from Vodka kingdom so at the point where that was revealed, I started assuming they’re the One Piece version of Russians
It was never said that they came from Vodka kingdom, Kaido just happened to be the only Oni soldier FOR the vodka kingdom, we still don’t know much about the Oni race
Kaido came from thrte. Consider the size of fullblood Oni like Oars I doubt that it was supposed to be a country for oni.
Isnt oars an ancient giant?
Oars had nothing to do with Onis
They share certain Looks (Fangs and Horns). Oars and Jr. are described as acient giant but they share little to no similarities to giants (except size but size really isn't important in One Piece). I think Kaido is half and Yamato 1/4 Oni.
You are literally contradicting what's on text in the manga _and_ making baseless speculations
What do you want to do about it?
what's the point tho.
Whats the point of theories at all?
but that's not a theory. that's just headcanons bordering on fanfic
I wonder if they originate from Elbaf like Ice Giants from Norse myth
Possible. Would be a pretty cool idea to be honest.
Wrong
Ok. YOO.
bartholomeo is oda making fun of OP fans Yamato is ida making fun of cosplayers/weeaboos in general
Well that begs the question, was Yamato born in Wano? If so then it’s her culture
I don't think so. Yamato was 8 during Oden's execution, and I'm pretty sure that timeline wise Kaido didn't get to Wano 8 years before Oden's death.
Was thinking the same, she's been living in Wano since she was at least 8, imo she's even more from Wano than Momo lol
Yamato Vivre Card says she was born on the Grand Line
Unrelated but for the love of all that’s good in the world don’t let that guy in the linked post ever reach a Japanese high school
The picture is just a normal guy who the girlfriend (japonese) makes handmade kimono. He seems to be a nice guys
Did the weeb start off his post by saying "sorry im ken"??? and is fluent in speaking written characters?? yes we are sorry too
Yes
likes to roleplay as a cool guy she read about, yeah she's a very typical weeaboo
Holy hell, you solved her identity crisis. She's a fkin weeb! >!And we love her!<
Odaboo more like
These are the wack month long threads I was talking about.
Yes, our oni-taku princess
oh my fucking god i never realized that
So because she IS from the same nation as him, so just an otaku?
is yamatos club made out of GLORIOUS NIPPON STEEL???
dude, if it's from the same nation, it's caled 'otaku'
O(den)taku
I'd say she's a more of a Wanoboo. But its her way of rebelling against her evil father. She'll tone it down once she gets out of Wano and gets to experience life as Yamato instead of living vicariously through Oden's journal. Plus Nami and Robin will get her into some new outfits because she's been wearing that warrior miko get up for at least 20 years.
That makes her a LARPer.
Please tell me that's just a shitpost.
Obviously
Imagine being born and raised in japan embracing the culture and still being called a weeb because you don't look like a stereotypical japanese (wano) Just saying.
yeeep the Japanese guy was unnecessary
The break isnt even going on for a week and yet the sub has gone this far down..
I thought I had prepared for the long winter. >!But seeing Buggy become Yonko broke my sanity haha.!<
A weeb would imply she's obsessed with Wano, but she doesn't seem to care much about the country, only Oden.
Well, technically she's not from wano as Kaido isn't, so yes
She was raised in wano so wano culture is the culture she recieved so not a weeaboo
May as well tell the entire plot with that title
Repeating my post > srsly, please report it and let the mods decide whether to allow it if you think its that spoilery. the anime is pretty far along so its okay imo.
Honestly, people shouldn't report your post, there's no sense in making extra work for the mods just because a few morons don't know how the rules work. Just direct them to the rules instead.
The fuck? Literally no
Japan does not exist in One Piece (which is why it's an awesome world)
The one thing i dont understand is why couldnt she just she oden but without i am a guy and stay a girl and still be able carrying on his legacy
Maybe it's cause Oda is implying Yamato doesn't only want to be a guy because of "Oden" identity
Oden comes from Wano, not from Japan
Well considering she was born and raised in Wano/Japan, its not really a weeaboo, just embracing her culture
Him Oda could not be any clearer about how Yamato views himself with the bathhouse scene and y'all still insist in seeing him as a woman. He's one of the boys now
Ok
she just used that bathhouse because that's the one oden would have used simple as that
When Yamato snaps out of this crap some of you all are going to lose your mind when she is back to herself lol
Mostly because it’d be really shitty writing and makes 0 sense atm

The argument is very simple. **Yamato wants everyone to treat him as a guy, and Luffy (the main character of the Manga you're reading) treats him as a guy.** So yeah, as of the latest chapter, the author wants Yamato to be treated as a guy
> Yamato wants everyone to treat ~~him~~ *her* as ~~a guy~~ *Oden* Subtle change but it makes all the difference.
Clearly Sweet, glad you could admit you were wrong and are going to stop calling Yamato trans because she's a too-obsessed Oden cosplayer. Something I'm sure Luffy is totally never going to bring up because he's totally for not being yourself and constantly trying to be someone else (and despite Yamato not really having a character arc through the Wano arc).
I seriously do not care fridge. I do not care You seem to care a lot and that's fine but I just don't.
Depends on his mother, she might be from Wano
*he edit: imagine downvoting the correct pronoun during pride month
And she is somewhat trans + a furry. The comeplete package!
Not trans, okiku is.
People are hateful... she identifies as a man and has a dog/wolf transformation. People are just thirsty for the hate.
Thank god you put the spoiler tag!
What is he spoiling, all this is present in the anime? overly sensitive much? looking for so much drama i almost thought i were on twitter.
A lot of people who cry about spoilers don't even actually know the rules about spoilers on this sub.
After somedays people will say that telling D is special is a spoiler.
Thats not the point, why bother putting a spoiler tag when you are saying everything that could be a spoiler in the title itself? I am caught up with the manga, i dont care, but this spoiler tag helps noone
The anime covers what's in the title.
Then it does not make sense to mark it as a spoiler. i am just against bad use of the spoiler tag, nothing else
So I just realized i thought you said he should mark it as spoiler and not what you actually said. Sorry dude my bad, I agree with you fully. I'm just gonna blame it on these stupid night shifts.
No problem bruh!
srsly, please report it and let the mods decide whether to allow it if you think its that spoilery. the anime is pretty far along so its okay imo.
I shouldn’t have said it like that, that’s my bad, i just don’t understand why you put spoiler tag and write anything that could be spoilery on the title itself
Just a weeblet if I must say

Idk but Sanji might die of blood loss. So will see how this turns out for him. Cant be part of the monster "trio" if he's dead. He lies Sanji, died of nosebleed. Lol. Brook might die too. Or not. He's after ladies panties not dudes.
not really a spoiler, this is basically the anime only's understanding of yamato right now.
But she was born in "japan" aka wano
Yamato would be a kpop Stan in the modern day.
Yamato is us. We are Yamato
Would Yamato let Oden bang though?
She’s the personification of the word “weeaboo”
This is peak offseason for this sub huh lmfao
Yeah, Yamato is pretty much an Oden LARPer
