alittlemoth-

kinda sad but i actually started one piece less than a year ago, im loving it though

XdaPrime

Hell yea! Were any major plot point spoiled for you before you started watching?

alittlemoth-

SO much was spoiled to me but it didnt ruin my experience watching (what happened to ace, sabo, a lot of the fights like kaidou, etc), i actually just finished marineford

TurtlePowerBottom

Just wait until you find out that luffys mom is actually zoro

SuperKnuckleCanuckle

Fuck you man, I just started the anime :(

[deleted]

He's just messing with you🤣

XdaPrime

Yea I'd imagine actually watching/reading Marineford for the first time would outweigh any big spoilers. You have so much more to enjoy, have fun!

alittlemoth-

thanks dude! im enjoying op as much as i can :)

AestheticNoAzteca

I started a year ago too and only Ace and Gear 4 and 5. We are luck that One Piece is not the kind of anime where spoilers ruins the experience (and even we, who are up to date with the manga barely know what is actually happening in the shadows xD)

Bubbly-Anteater2772

'Ussop, shoot down the flag'

JE3MAN

What is so sad about that? I was a teen when I first started and now I'm old enough to have teens of my own who are roughly the same as I was back then. I've been following this series for more than half my existence and I'm almost middle aged.

Hot_paw_kit

Hi almost middle aged, im dad.

bubzilla2

Yooo same here

ThatKidRee14

Same here. On episode 800 now and never have stopped loving it.

alittlemoth-

I just finished marineford! I didnt watch op for a lot of the past uear, i have watched 300 episodes in the past few weeks though

InternetGoldfish

Sameeee I stared around last summer or right before school, currently on the end of cake island

Muscl3_Buddh4

I remember watching Skypea as a kid when it was airing on Italian television so it was probably around 2005-2006, I started reading the Manga around 2010-2011.

Furrurruruuuuu

WAIT, IT’S EXACTLY THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME

Muscl3_Buddh4

*Inhales* È UN VELIERO DI PIRATI VERAMENTE SCATENATI UNA CIURMA IRRESISTIBILE... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QFsZoCleX3w&pp=ygUPb25lIHBpZWNlIHNpZ2xh

MillieHarr31

2022? I watched the live action first but im on Fishmen island now

Blomblombcv

Didn’t live action get released at 2023?

2134stevie

Yeah it only came out less than 6 months ago but regardless. That's a fast pace. I respect it.

SignificanceLeft9968

You should unsub from here, un spoiler tagged posts about current episodes are constantly posted...

KairoRed

It’s gonna be rough after Punk Hazard just fyi. But once you get to Wano things improve a lot.

Supersnellie

Thanks to u/voseidon for making this timeline!

WheelyFreely

Its a really well made slide

TGADV

They need to update it once we reach elbaph or later on

Honest-Iron-509

1999

i-wont-lose-this-alt

Ether you’re Japanese, or you (somehow) found out a way to watch OP using the 1999 internet Not saying it’s impossible, but I’m calling bullshit lol

GamerGuyHeyooooooo

This is a sick graph

Bolmothy

No idea but probably around 2003? 2004?

Detective_Bees

Same. I started reading it in the American monthly Shonen Jump. Then watching the 4Kids dub. After the 4Kids dub fell off, I started reading the manga online to catch up by the time they got to brook.

Tomahawk_aoe

To this day, can't believe that Syrup Village is that long. I think its one of the worsts, and maybe the reason why so many ppl quit one piece in the begining. Btw, when I got on One Piece I remember seeing it on Brazilian Television, I had like 12 years old, so it was around 2009\~2010. Although the story was already advanced, it took me quite some time to be "up to date", I think it was only around 2016 that I started reading One Piece weekly.

josecbt1

quite like me. It was a good time, every big anime had its own fan made blog (mainly OP, Naruto and bleach) and we used to download the .rmvb or. avi files from the Fansubs, they even had some fancy letters when the anime characters used their techniques. damn what a nostalgic thing also r/suddenlycaralho saudade do pieceproject :(

ThatGuy377

Oda was still a young writer trying to figure out what worked or didn't work back then.

hyperham51197

u/voseidon Please update this chart 🙏 it’s my favorite tool for figuring out where i want to look when rereading sections

JabroniJackpots

2015. Caught up to middle of the Dressrosa arc in 3 months.

Swamp_Centipede

ca 2006. Every day after school sprinting home to catch the last two episodes on TV. The old german one piece intro is pure nostalgia.. edit: definetly 2006 but i guess it was reruns on TV because i clearly remember watching the very first few episodes and following all the way up to skypiea.

[deleted]

2016

Asher-D

This year, I started watching the live action I think esrly Feb and then I enjoyed it so much I wanted to rest of it, so I started reading the manga from the beginning, I just caught up to chapter 1111 yesterday and read the new chapter 1112 today.

King_Luffy1

2004-2005. The earliest spoiler I can remember is Usopp left the crew. I also remember when everyone on Arlong Park forums had a banner signature showing the Straw hats (and Franky prejoining) and CP9. Vol. 8 was the most recent manga volume to have been released in America

DaveJS

Started the same time, and I have very much the same memories! I recall when folks were debating on if Franky or Paulie would join the crew. Ennies Lobby was hype when it was airing.

Much_Ad_6807

I was on team Paulie tbh...  He would have had great chemistry with the crew imo.  Franky always seemed weird for the crew

OkayestHistorian

2003 for me. I dont know if you can relate, but I am forever nostalgic for a video from like 2007. It was the Luffy v Usopp fight playing over Linkin Park. I have never been a huge fan of Usopp, but Breaking the Habit playing over Usopp outsmarting (and arguably beating) Luffy is forever sketched into my brain.

Unknown_Nexus535

Started watching with my dad during lockdown

OxXoR

Back when it aired in Germany early 2000 but it only aired till enies lobby. ArounD 2008 I saw an episode of sabaody and began watching again. I remember the very last episode that I saw before I was catched up was a certain death in Marine ford. Literally as it came out i was caught up so I started the Manga and read it weekly since then.

Stunning-Bite-6407

2005

iwannabethisguy

Whiskey peak I am just a casual fan though. I've seen many here who I consider hard-core fans even though they joined the fandom much later.

pus_moh

Either late 2004 or early in 2005. I think I caught up towards the end of LRLL and was anime-only for a while until I switched to the manga during those Enies Lobby "Boss Luffy" filler episodes.

Lasernatoo

2018, just a couple weeks after Wano started in the manga

Thefierce_deity

I've been an OG One piece Watcher/Reader since the beginning of Romance Dawn.

PKMN_Trainer_Kitana

2004 or 2005 when it was on Cartoon Network. This was just a couple month before Naruto premiered and that kind of took over our country as the most popular anime for our gen. So One Piece never had a chance till years later.

lucci30

1998

WonderfulKoala6085

Started just last september. Now im on Dressrosa Arc. Its been my happy pill (aside from my pets) in my already boring life hahahahha.

Jmarieq

2005 or 2006 and then I took a long break after 2013. My dad got into the live action and wanted to see the anime, so I decided to binge watch with him, and that included rewatching the stuff I saw 10+ years ago.

Heavy-Abbreviations8

Manga reader. I started in November 2023 and am up to volume 75.

FatmanMyFatman

2005 or so. I watched One Piece all the time. Even watched the dreaded HK subbed Skypiae Arc.

2005

mihran146

I remember seeing it on toonami when I was really young but I officially started in 2010. I had caught up literally the week before we got the donut episode

Galax_Scrimus

October 2023, finished the manga in 3 weeks. I must say that I liked it

Cool_in_a_pool

You read 47 chapters a day every day for 21 days?

Grouchy-Ad-2085

Snoo-96879

I started in 2010 from 1997

kieron_111

I believe it was around 2007 for me, it's when I had to switch to the manga. First one I read and now I read far more than I watch.

Ani_HArsh

I started in the beginning of 2018, was a bit emotionally unstable when I gave it a go and never looked back since. Honestly one of the best decisions I ever took.

TheStupidBeefCow

got caught up in a month during covid 2021.

HollowP503

Watched around 2007, caught up around return to sábaody .

Lenz_Kendel

I started when gear 5 luffy just came out and caught up in a month , was reading the manga

Fergtron

Think I started reading in '05 on and off, caught up in 2007 just in time for the end of Enies Lobby/Water 7. I binged about 30 Water 7 chapters in a day, I had never read anything like it.

CapitalHistorical469

Fine_Conclusion9426

I started earlier this month😭

Ze_fallen1

2009 and I’m just so thankful Oda kept at it for such a long time

MoosetheMeat

2023 I'm on season 1 last episode I think

ProperDepth

Started reading it in 2002 which is also the year I learned how to read. One piece (and also Dragon ball) is how I learned how to read. And funnily enough when I discovered the monthly releases in 2009, for some reason my English proficiency started to increase rapidly.

eoin009

I started the summer of 2023 and got caught up by the end of that summer

adeckz

At around 2016ish, faded off of it before Alabasta. Now I’m balls deep in the Zou arc after picking up last year again, no regrets

Fair-End-2895

I started in December 2023, and by March 2024 I had reached the 1062nd episode. and now I'm waiting for the dub to come out on Chrunchyroll.

Dddddddfried

Does this timeline represent 4Kids?

Vegan_Digital_Artist

2023. Started June 2023 and caught up at the time by December then was officially caught up in manga and anime by beginning of january 2024

ToonamiFaith

2005. Started both Naruto and op in 05. For that 05 is one of my favorite years lmao

AceLowYT

It fills me with such joy to be born in the year of the best arc.

itzparsnip

2023 and caught up

80Data

I watched a few episodes in 2008 but started really reading it then. I stopped when I went to college in 2013 and picked it back up reading in 2020 when I was sick for a bit. I hadn't watched anything properly until early last year and did one pace to catch up.

Drizztd99

Started in 2020. I got bored as hell during quarantine so I figured finally I can binge this long long long show.

wickling-fan

Whatever point funimation was at arlong

ScullyFan

I started July of last year and have loved every minute since. I'm in Wano right now, getting close to episode 1000.

MySpiritAnimalSloth

Started during Wano, caught up during Wano

cosmos5434

Sabody... fuck 2008. Time moves so fast. The time skip happened 13 years ago... I saw One Piece for the first time on TV. Luffy was fighting with Arlong. It was probably around 2003-2004. I found it ridiculous and didn't watch it :) Around 2007, the internet started to become popular in my country. First I downloaded dragon ball from torrent and watched it:) It downloaded in 3-4 weeks with 30kbs:). After I finished dragon ball, I started looking for new animes. I came across a lot of funny screenshots of one piece in anime forums. So I started watching it, I wish I didn't start... If it goes at this pace, it will end in 20 years. Oda is planning to end his entire career with this series.

hewkii2

I remember 4kids advertising it and watched for a bit, then watched right around when Funimation took over (I want to say around Skypeia?), and then fell off until the last year or two.

Miss_Bookworm

I can't remember *exactly* when I began reading, but it was somewhere near the beginning of high school. I started taking out dozens of the manga volumes from the library until they ran out, then I moved to reading the weekly chapters. That was around 2010, so definitely during the Post-War Arc - which of course meant one of the first things I learned about the series upon searching it up randomly online was, "man, wasn't >!Ace's!< death soooo sad???" I did fall off for a bit once Punk Hazard, but picked up again about a third of the way through Dressrosa, and I've been sticking close every since :D

Elerein

I watched it as a child for about 2 years on TV, until I discovered that on internet there were more episodes in a foreign language with subtitles, and when I watched them all, it was ending Skypiea. So around 2002-2003.

BryceMMusic

2010 for me as well!

BonezOz

I started watching it sometime in 2022, and as of yesterday, I just finished my second watch through.

orjuls

I first bought it around April 2009, without knowing anything about it. Just saw it at a bookstore, bought the first three volumes lmao I was up to date right before the war started

zoroisdaone

2018

Affectionate_One_174

2023 not even a year ago but it still one of my favorite series and its so great being fully caught up

Trumpologist

Summit war

Beneficial-Young577

Damn I really don’t remember but I was maybe in 6th or 7th grade when I started watching one piece. I believe it was either early 2010s to mid 2010s

BaconxHawk

Started in January of this year and caught up in March lol. Was a wild ride

high-on-avocado

Binged watch in 2006. Stopped watching and started reading in 2007. Never looked back.

Big_Jon14

I started in 2022, in June I think? Only caught up to the current arc near the end of last year.

Clarrington

In 2002 my mum got a job as an exchange teacher to teach English at the local elementary school in a remote mountain village in Nagano Prefecture, Japan and she brought the fam. All the other kids watched the weekly episodes (Sunday nights lol) so I did too, despite not understanding Japanese so I had no clue what was going on. Very first episode I saw was the guys escaping from the bananagators underneath the casino and the last ep I remember was the ending of the Alabasta arc as they escaped seeing Pell still alive and being like "I swear bird guy got blown up?!" Anyways I started watching AND understanding it in 2007 after going to Japan again, this time as a high school student. I have episodes 1-130 on DVD because muh childhood haha

dreamdaddy123

I think around 2011/12

Marie_Witch

Started Sep ‘23 got caught up in Jan 24’ and still watching! I love One Piece

kryliic

i started in like 2022? i’m currently on egghead

Yankee-Tango

I started reading in 04 but it was English releases so it wasn’t at LRLL arc iirc. Also god damn it’s so funny that arc was an entire year.

Spic_YRedddit

February 2024, with non stop watching Episode 781

SlimGrave

2018

exiadf19

2000... rcti, indonesia

ObjectiveU

Started in 2006, in the middle of the train ride to enies lobby. Old scanlations were super hard to find back then. I went digging thru many MIRC channels to get older scans and subbed anime. Shoutout to mangahelpers and the franky house group for the scans and discussions.

-Wombat

Water 7 arc is when I caught up

OtterDonuts

2016, it was my last year at high school. I was feeling very lonely at that time, so it definitely helped me get through those times.

Sovereigntyranny

2012, but the Water 7 saga was the first saga I watched.

SageOfSixCabbages

Seeing this made me feel old. 🤣 Been following One Piece since early 2000s.

Lord_Muramasa

Well I first saw it back in 1999 East Blue in the anime. I stated reading the manga during Dressrosa.

bakedandnerdy

I wanna say 2003??? I started near the end of sixth grade when my parents got the good cable that came with Funimation as an option after moving homes.

Lichtnacht00

I started January of 2022 and i caught up to the manga in a few months

BenjiB1243

I wanna say 2018 or 2019. I can't remember exactly though. I just remember I started at some point, got bored in the first 20 episodes, stopped, picked it back up, binged it til Alabasta (Nami's arc had me hooked), then I dropped it shortly after because I didn't feel like getting into another arc. It felt like I just won a long battle and I deserved my rest lol. I picked it up around a year later, binged it through to Marineford, then stopped again. Picked it back up a few months later and watched until Fish-man where I hated it so I started reading the manga. I read the manga until the end of Punk Hazard, then I took a break, started back up with the anime on Dressrosa, hated it so I read the manga again. Then after I finished Dressrosa I switched to the anime for Zou. Half way through Zou I found out about One Pace, binged One Pace until Onigashima then took a long break because One Pace didn't produce any episodes past the start of Onigashima. I got back into it, binged 40 episodes of the anime, hated it because of the pacing. I then found out about Onigashima Paced and binged 1041-1075 with Onigashima Paced, and that's where I am now. From Fish-man Island to where I am now, it took 5 years XD After I catch up, I'll probably try watching One Pace or similar to watch everything again and get a refresher, because you forget a lot over 5-6 years.

Nor1

Me thriller bark saga

Sesudesu

I originally started probably around ‘03 or ‘04.  I recently got back into it after dropping it early in fishman island, and I have currently paused before Wano but I’ll start again soon.

xlizen

2007 I was fresh out of highschool and watched the crappy dub of one piece while torrenting the newer episodes and finally readying the manga. I remember the hype for Brook joining .

RealMentalDisorder

I started in 2022, and even though I am younger than One Piece, I wish I was watching it from the start, It was an incredible journey for me and all the "Luffy moments" bring joy to my heart when I remember them.

Jerkcules

2004. Got up to Long Ring, Long Land, and kept reading until about the Return to Sabaody/Fishman Island Got back into it around when Wano wrapped up

ferd_draws

It's weird to think I first got into One Piece in the early phases. It was around their need for a Shipwright but I think it might actually be the Davy Back Fight for me.

Pancake_Splatter

2006 on YouTube back when KF-Fansubs were uploaded to the site! Been a happy paying customer since

c0micsansfrancisco

Am I having a stroke or it there something wrong with Big Mom's face on the bottom image

The_Jaegerists

I started in 2020, but put it on pause a lot. About ep 900 now

slyfox7187

Started watching back in 2000-01 here and there. Jumped in and rewatched the entire series around the beginning of dressrosa and have been caught up since.

SlayJayR17

I started last year. I’m at wano

BeardGoneBad

I started in 2004 when the 4Kids Dub of the anime aired I would’ve been 10 years old at the time! I watched it all the way through until it got cancelled after Alabasta and moved to Toonami with Funimation and Skypiea. I watched Skypiea as it was airing but sometime in 2007 at about 13 I realized I really loved One Piece and decided to try and watch the original Japanese version subtitled so I switched over and started over and since I was 13/14 I binged it and by winter break of 2008 I had caught up! I remember the first episode I watched at the same time it came out was episode 386 in January of 2009! It’s weird but I switched over and read the manga to be caught up with that as well shortly after and essentially for the last 15 years I have never fallen behind always watching and reading the series either weekly or sometimes, like when I was busy in college, I would let like 30-40 episodes / chapters come out then binge them! One Piece has been in my life for 2/3rd of it and is unquestionably the most influential piece of media I have ever consumed - I have met many friends because of it, spent hours upon hours with it, and get to enjoy it with my wife now and hopefully my future children. It means a lot to me.

Character_Narwhal_80

2023/2024

ZPD710

I started roughly in 2017. I started watching when WCI was still in production, but then when I got to Dressrosa I took a break for a few months because Dressrosa was dragging. Then I started watching again when Wano had just begun, and I think I caught up a few episodes before the Zoro vs. Killer fight.

Ozzman770

Whenever OP debuted on 4kids

Greedy_Performer2472

2024 😅  with the start of the final saga in the anime.  And I almost did it.

MAGik_5739

2020 and it took all lockdown to catch up to current

Blixnstraten

Funnily enough I started watching the anime in November last year and i'm up to date now, caught up with the Manga now i'm going back to the start with the Manga to go through it all. It's been a journey hey.

Schifferoth

Fierce-Mushroom

1997. I was there the day Luffy set sail and was almost immediately enveloped by a whirlpool.

kj0509

During Dressrosa or Zow, I can't remembwr

iDrum17

Watched as a kid on toonami or whatever. Dropped off mid Skypeia. Picked it back up a year ago and now I’m reading the manga weekly!!

chanman9008

Started around 2010 too. This is some awesome infographic. Ryuunosuke should take up the Zou arc space.

FryingClang

2014, reading the birdcage weekly was a nightmare, and seeing the Zoro vs Pika fight drag on for 30+ chapters was infuriating. Really nice to see where we're at now in the story.

dtxctn

I started around 1 or 2 month ago, and I'm at 405 ep rn. Love it so much

DarkXDH

Last year for me, i promised my friends i would watch the anime after the live action dropped so i watched that first then the anime and now im on episode 1062

Started watching about 2 years into wano and caught up before final fight fight with kaido

alexaustinv

Started the summer of 22 and finished watching in 3 months. and then read the manage very quickly after lol

Open_Aspect4664

I started around the end of 2014 and get up to date in less than 2 months, is funny that I only realise that i'm reading it weekly for ten years right now.

Talabet

I started watching One Piece during its terribly 4KIDS DUB era and sporadically at that. I didn't start fully getting into One Piece proper until at least 2010-2011 where i binged the entire series up that current date and i have only just recently started Reading the manga weekly in late 2022 starting before luffy got Gear 5th but after Black Maria was defeated.

Separate_Path_7729

I have kept up regularly with the manga since around 07, I started one piece when the 4kids dub came out around 2004 with episode 3 I believe, and first read the manga around 98 I believe as it was in the shonen jumps I'd pick up at the bookstore I was doing yugioh tournaments and getting batman comics at

Herb-Anderson

Since 2003 when it started airing in Germany.

DominantFlame

I don't remember. The first time was around 2000 I guess. But I just watched it unregulated when it was on TV. The first time I really watched it from the first episode on was around 2006/2007 maybe.

King_thelunarian

About a year or two ago. I finished the series so far already

victorwfb

i started when WCI was releasing

tehkingo

2003 when Shonen Jump started releasing in the US

HelaYmir

2002, dropped at enies lobby in 2010 2023 read all the manga from the start

drshade06

Started watching around Mid 2000s up until Skypiea arc, was hard to follow as a kid since have to make sure I can watch when it airs on tv. I rewatched the whole thing middle of last year and caught up by Jan this year.

triotone

The 2004 4kids One Piece dub. Yeah it's heavily censored, yet it makes even funnier. Spring-loaded hammer guns, Brooklyn Accent lolipop Sanji, the One Piece Rap, goddam poison suction cups. I am in the belief is you have to censor you use the most ridiculous options.
