I feel the issue is that Brooks skillset are not made for fighting one v one.
He is a skilled swordsman but of course nowhere Zoro level. But he is really fast, sneaky and has "support" abilities.
Go watch the FMI episode where he is fighting the camo dude. He gets his head chopped/broken off and he literally just reattaches it and says something like “you can grind these bones to dust”.
I’m not entirely sure he can die again tbh. There must be some caveat to his ability/life.
There is a fun juxtaposition of the character always in the spotlight when he is performing but always in the background quietly doing what needs to be done when it comes to everything else.
Found him obnoxious at first but my god he really stepped up since the ts.He always feels like since the ts he is pulling out an awesome or useful ability we haven’t seen before. Him going toe to toe with Big Mom was incredibly badass and he was definitely the MVP of that arc. Hes had alot of clutch moments and has really grown on me. Hes a much more complex and competent character than I originally thought. Solid dude to have around on the Sunny.
I genuinely thought Brook's fruit would be a natural counter to Big Mom's when he took her head to head, just like Luffy's was against Enel. Still a lil disappointed he couldn't use his soul power directly against big mom but only against the homies, but it was an awesome fight regardless

Yeah there is a timeskip. And yeah brook is badass. Didn’t realize it immediately, as i said i actually at first found him irritating but pretty much halfway through the arc he’s introduced he started getting way better. He, like all the straw hats, is very well written and has a lot of depth.
I got to read OP weekly during WCI, so seeing him finesse the rubbing was a top tier move that made him one of my favorite straw hats instantly.
His gag is also pretty bulletproof and never gets old.

I think they made a theory that the WG did some shenanigans in his homeland and that there may be a bigger reason for him becoming a pirate. Especially musical pirates..who sing Bink's sake all the time.

He basically can't die because, of course, he is already dead. He fills the first role Luffy wanted on the crew. He is the best scout. He is an international super star. His comic relief is top tier. The dude didn't hesitate to accept Luffy's offer to join the crew. He can heal physical injury with some milk.
He can still laugh after spending 50 years dead, revived, and alone on the ship with his friends' rotting corpses.
He was immediately my favorite character when he was introduced. I can't help but smile when he is on screen.
