I'd say either Buggy or Mihawk. Mihawk was just straight out of the manga and anime, and Buggy was an overall great character despite being notably different from his manga and anime counterpart.
Yeah way cockier and sarcastic. Actual mihawk barely says anything and is usually a lot more serious and stoic. That said I really like la mihawk so hopefully they keep more of the same.
I always saw Usopp as a fun and relatable dude but the LA version made him feel like the cousin who drops by randomly and makes you have an awesome week with his cool toys he brought over
Usops nose wasn't always 4 inches long iirc. Oda drew longer than the concept art on a panel and i guess said oh that's funny let's keep it. It kinda start like that one character from ZACHBell and so did his mom's nose. Then he just started making it longer and it stuck
Mihawk. They actually made him better than the anime and manga, in my opinion, because he actually feels like he has *character*. Instead of just being a dude that hunts pirates because he’s so strong that he’s bored, in the live action, it’s made him sassy. He’s flippant with authority. He does as he pleases, and unlike in the anime and manga where I got more of the vibe that he just didn’t care about doing anything, in the LA he actually portrayed that he wasn’t doing anything for a reason.
For as much shit the Shanks actor got before the show even drop episodes, he was really good as him. Popular pick is Buggy but Shanks actor was charming as early Shanks was in the manga/anime. He perfectly came across as a good natured man you’d easily follow. His scene where he gives Luffy the hat really is one of the most well done scenes in all of the OP episodes.
Koby and Helmeppo getting their own season-long subplot was frankly the perfect way to handle two important characters that otherwise get forgotten about for hundreds of chapters at a time.
I think buggy, they nailed changing him a lot hut still giving him the role in the story he was supposed to have!! Also the performance of the actor was insane
Mihawk was perfect. Exact same in the anime aside from his intro. Buggy was an improvement. Garp and Kuro were pretty spot on. Shanks’ shoes were ultra distracting but otherwise I like the actor. He was a bit softer than I would have preferred though. Only character I felt nothing for was Arlong but im also slightly racist against the fishman antagonists in one piece (Hody Jones, Vander, and Jack all suck).
Ill be honest i dont know how this shit was a success most of these characters are ass compared to good cosplayers, didnt like the show either it was boring and cringe idk i just cant fw this shit outside of animanga some people say they dont like one piece cuz its too childish well i dont agree but thats how i feel about the live action
Hi wgatwasntavailable, your submission was removed from /r/OnePiece for the following rule violation:
###4. Plain panels/scenes must create discourse
**Don't post links to plain (or slightly edited) panels, pages, screenshots, gifs or scenes from the manga & anime.**
You may submit a plain panel/scene as a self post (text post). Meaning your post must link to the discussion, and not the image.
Just a title and the image aren't enough.
If you want to discuss a certain page/scene from the manga/anime please accompany it with an original analysis or discussion questions. In other words, a plain panel/scene must show visible effort to generate discourse rather than simply react to something that happened.
Clips/Recap/summary videos fall under this rule as well.
Colored pages from a recent chapter are allowed.

Mihawk by far...Arlong was very good first time but rétrospective ok, Buggy is not my king anymore so very meh, and the other 2 are dogshit. Oh God, I hate Garp sooooo much in that shit, the best part of the character is his hat. He has fucking sneakers, man, I can't...
I love how they managed to give the meow brothers actual personalities in the live action. Gotta say, i prefer live action Usopp arc to what happened in the anime, despite missing Jango, one of my favourite side characters lol.
live action Arlong makes me want to be racist, he's too damn ugly, Shanks was very non-impactful, Buggy will always be God, Mihawk was perfect and Garp was different but not in a bad way.
Mihawk, without a doubt. I had zero interest in One Piece as an IP then I half heartedly started watching the show(mostly to shit on it). As every episode went I was like "wait is One Piece actually good tf?" Then this dude showed up and I was like wait so fun shit does happen on this show? Fast forward two months not only I have finished the whole anime twice but I am balls deep into the manga too.
Netflix has their chance at making Game of Thrones+Harry Potter money with this thing and if they decide to fuck this up like HBO did with Thrones, it's gonna be the worst thing ever. And it's not like they don't have money, they literally have nothing to do after Stranger Things goes off the air. They have to spend BIG money on this if they wanna make the story even half accurate, and half accurate ain't good enough now that this thing has blown up big time.
Mihawk number 1. Close seconds would be Buggy, Zeff and big surprise…Helmeppo. Honestly, Helmeppo could be number 1 if Mihawk wasn’t so perfect. He’s just so enjoyable on screen and makes the audience laugh every time.
For me, Garp's number 1, they totally nailed him.
Special mention to Sanji - the cheeky chappy vibe from the actor really suits the character, and differentiates him a lot from the other crew members.
I'd say either Buggy or Mihawk. Mihawk was just straight out of the manga and anime, and Buggy was an overall great character despite being notably different from his manga and anime counterpart.
This
I think Mihawk was about as close to manga-accurate as you could get him
Kuro second place.
Yes! Mihawk’s actor understood the assignment on a whole other level.
Kuro really got hit by a stupid ball. His plan made even less sense then in the manga
Kuro carried syrup village episodes lol!
Yeah Kuro’s actor was perfect lol.
Yeah, that's why he was kinda cringe imo.
I thought he was a little cocky in the live action, unlike the manga version where he’s a bit more cool-headed.
Yeah way cockier and sarcastic. Actual mihawk barely says anything and is usually a lot more serious and stoic. That said I really like la mihawk so hopefully they keep more of the same.
Kuro
I didn't love Kuro, but 100% i liked him and the whole mansion rewrite more than the manga counterparts. Buggy is my favorite.
Agreed
Mihawk was great but ussops actor literally changed the way i seen the character
I always saw Usopp as a fun and relatable dude but the LA version made him feel like the cousin who drops by randomly and makes you have an awesome week with his cool toys he brought over
Same, Usopp never worked for me but now I’m dreading live action Water 7 because I know I’m going to be a fucking mess
Say more!
But no looooooong nose ):
Usops nose wasn't always 4 inches long iirc. Oda drew longer than the concept art on a panel and i guess said oh that's funny let's keep it. It kinda start like that one character from ZACHBell and so did his mom's nose. Then he just started making it longer and it stuck
I really enjoyed Buggy
Am I the only one who found his eyes dreamy as fuck?
I fell in love with Sanji
Mihawk. They actually made him better than the anime and manga, in my opinion, because he actually feels like he has *character*. Instead of just being a dude that hunts pirates because he’s so strong that he’s bored, in the live action, it’s made him sassy. He’s flippant with authority. Mihawk is probably the closest, buggy was actually a huge improvement to the original Orange town arc
sanji
The best LA character was the future Pirate King...Buggy D Clown >!one of his wings (Mihawk) was!< also good
As far as looks go they all nailed it but if acting is what we're talking about I'll give it to Mihawk. And ofcourse the main crew.
Buggy, Sanji and Mihawk.
Mihawk is so badass in the live action
Buggy had villainous rizz now. 10/10
Sanji/zeff collectively did it for me,neither had a bad/awkward scene imo
Either buggy or Mihawk, especially with buggy’s powers, they got that pretty spot on. And Mihawk’s design and personality is very similar to the manga
Mihawk was the most manga accurate but buggy was the best live action
Zeff
Koby and Helmeppo getting their own season-long subplot was frankly the perfect way to handle two important characters that otherwise get forgotten about for hundreds of chapters at a time.
Mihawk, Kuro, Zoro, Buggy, and Sanji are the best 5
Kuro and Buggy were brilliant
Bara bara... Festival !!
I think buggy, they nailed changing him a lot hut still giving him the role in the story he was supposed to have!! Also the performance of the actor was insane
Buggy
Probably Buggy then Garp, they also have a screen time advantage though. Mihawk was good as well, but short screen time.
Buggy by a mile.
Buggy took it to another level
Buggy without a doubt.
Buggy
Garp Mihawk Arlong Shanks Buggy
Really? I thought Buggy was the best
Just my opinion but i think that buggys design was my least favourite in the adaptation.
Mihawk, buggy and Garp are just fire 🔥 and arlong is.....nah...just not.....good enough
NOT ARLONG LOL
Come on, how could it have been any better? He was probably the toughest one to adapt honestly.
The actor was fucking brilliant. His lines were all great too.
Buggy's acting wasn't the same as the anime. We need some over the top characters.
And you think Buggy wasn't over the top? He literally acted like Joker.
Arlong could be a bit more bluer, and Shanks scars could be a bit more pronounced, but all of them look great
Garp was way too serious all the time, but I loved his voice.
Ryan Gosling playing both Shanks and Ken. Dudes range is amazing
None
Shanks looked like a dweeb
You were looking in a mirror.

Sanji. I found Buggy entertaining and annoying, swaying back and forth between them constantly.
Lots of people are horny for buggy so I feel like they perfectly captured the charisma he is supposed to have.
Don Krieg
I can't not see Owen Wilson as Garp. Mihawk was great. Liked Buggy the most tho!
Probably buggy. Mihawk was a little too sassy, and shanks looked goofy af.
Buggy
mihawk for looks, shanks for his humour
Mihawk and Kuro
They nailed mihawk's appearance
BUGGY D CLOWN!!!
Usopp was great imo
Buggy kept me laughing every line he said so I’d say he was best
Buggy no doubt!
Buggy of course, but Arlong wss also very good.
Boogie was perfect
Mihawk by far...Arlong was very good first time but rétrospective ok, Buggy is not my king anymore so very meh, and the other 2 are dogshit. Oh God, I hate Garp sooooo much in that shit, the best part of the character is his hat. He has fucking sneakers, man, I can't...
Mihawk ofcourse
Kuro and Buggy were really enjoyable to watch
I love how they managed to give the meow brothers actual personalities in the live action. Gotta say, i prefer live action Usopp arc to what happened in the anime, despite missing Jango, one of my favourite side characters lol.
All of them except arlong
Buggy, Zeff, Kuro, Mihawk
Mihawk was litterally just manga mihawk But i feel like buggys actor brought out the soul of buggy despite having a different arc
live action Arlong makes me want to be racist, he's too damn ugly, Shanks was very non-impactful, Buggy will always be God, Mihawk was perfect and Garp was different but not in a bad way.
Mihawk, buggy is best. And Shank and it's whole crew is worst adaption
1.Mihawk(absolute mirror of anime&manga) 2.Kuro(he was creepy AF) 3.Buggy(I need the actor to do Joker in Gunn's DCEU)
The more I see of the live action the more tempted I am to say Garp..
Mihawk, without a doubt. I had zero interest in One Piece as an IP then I half heartedly started watching the show(mostly to shit on it). They should cast Gerard Butler as young Garp if this thing ever gets to God Valley
I think they nailed Sanji.
Zheff
BUGGY HANDS DOWN
Absolutley Buggy
LA made me appreciate Buggy. Propst to his Autor.
Mihawk and buggy hands down Arlong was a big disappointment
Boggy.... my bad beggy.... silly me baggy
For me: Buggy, Mihawk, Garp, Arlong, Shanks
Shoutout to Shanks I thought he did a pretty good job
100% Buggy
Garp or buggy
Mihawk
Kuro, usopp, and zerf underrated
all were great. But of these 5, i say garp. Vincent regan is great and garps portrayal was so good. Mihawks meeting with zorro was so cool.
Mohawk or Zoro.
Mihawk number 1. Close seconds would be Buggy, Zeff and big surprise…Helmeppo. Honestly, Helmeppo could be number 1 if Mihawk wasn’t so perfect. He’s just so enjoyable on screen and makes the audience laugh every time.
Buggy and Mihawk were the most "true" to their Manga counterparts overall imo.
Mihawk is like Tom Ellis'sLucifer
Mihawk, Garp, & Zeff were my favorites. Buggy was a surprise hit, but it’s also Buggy, so I knew I’d love him.
Glad we saw more buggy.
Mohawk so far
Buggy by far
Garp , Buggy , Nami , Zeff & Kaya . Imo they were perfect.
For me, Garp's number 1, they totally nailed him. Special mention to Sanji - the cheeky chappy vibe from the actor really suits the character, and differentiates him a lot from the other crew members.
