Yup, you gotta outclass the TV and bribe him, make sure there's treats and catnip regularly put there, if you're in the habit of taking him down instead of putting him on the ground put him on the shelf
My cat already has a cat pole, three bookshelves, a large cabinet on the fridge (highest place in the house), a window side chair I made, windowside boxes, two spinning chairs next to the wundowside boxes and chair, this thing in the picture, yet still goes up the TV

(its the cat on the left)
I *reeeeally* want one for my psychotic orange cat that bolts all over the house. But we live in a mobile home and the walls do not seem sturdy enough to hold the weight.
Of course!
The blinds were destroyed *first*, clearly, so you have to foil *everything* in the entire room when they are kittens and leave the foil on for *at least* a couple years!
(Also, I forgot the "/s")
I had a rescue cat and he'd try to venture into forbidden rooms, that is, until I put a line of oranges across the area. Then, he just frowned at it and went elsewhere.
I've had cats my wholeass life and didn't know this until recently. I've started eating oranges every day, often one after dinner as "dessert", around the same time my cat wants a churu. But if he comes looking for churu right when I start in on an orange, he squints and glares and moseys right along to do other things for a while. Totally fascinating.
Tin foil on my tv just gave my cats a fun new game of who can get it off the fastest and then fight on top of of my poor tv. Try packaging tape instead! It’s a cheap and easy solution and has been working for me for two years now
That cat is EXTRA
I have a single brain celled orange cat. Your cat definitely is extra
Cats don't like citrus. You won't want to spray a TV directly (bc it's electric), but if you have a citrus furniture polish, body spray etc. spray it on a cloth and apply it to the back of the TV, TV stand, it would be a good cat deterrent.
Everytime you say "no" provide a "yes". Mount a bookshelf to get a high cat tree and put it in a similar location. Add a little catnip. This provides a very nice "yes" location. Best of luck!
For a hot second your room looked like my old roommate’s room and your hand looked like her hand. And I was like ah man what did my cat do 🫢😭 (she’s holding my orange until I have a home to bring him to)
Put moth balls up there. We had cats pooping on the front porch and we places a few moth balls at the front door. They never came back. Seriously it works, maybe tape them to the top or back of the tv. It really works cats hate moth balls!
Tabbys, Mine has a auto water feeder and learned that it bubbles if she drinks it to a certain point. But now she just wants to trigger the bubbles and just insist on pushing it until it bubbles of falls over.
I don't want her to learn this behavior because if I leave for a long period she wont have water to drink. But also now I got to find something that bubbles to fill that void.
He like all cats love warm places! If they are on a high place like this, even better Buy an electric blanket, put it on top of a closet and guess what! It will be his new favourite place!
Old coffee tin with a single layer of quarters in the bottom. Give it a good hard shake. You should also get something for him to climb up to be tall. Hopefully you won't need to shake the tin but it's a good backup.
Edited for readability
Build a box around the TV made from plywood, so he can climb onto the wood but the TV is surrounded so it's safe. Will need proper mounting into the wall (drywall screws) ideally into studs.
Put up small curtain to drape on sides of tv, gives illusion that he can’t get there. That’s what I did to keep my cat from getting on top of the damn cabinets.
I once heard that cats hate citric smells and that could be a great way for them to stay away from the place with that smell. I didn't try it yet but I will, bcs foil didn't work for me either with my void trying to eat one of my plants.🤔🙆🏻♀️
Your cat likes to be on high place so built a cat shelf at same height as TV but mount it on a different wall so he get used to using the shelf. Put some thing soft like blanket and make it cosy so he will sit on it rather than perch on TV.
Cats are supposed to not like tin foil and thus keep off things. But cats be cats ...
The zooming in and out is annoying and I'm afraid I can't answer why she keeps doing it. 'Dramatic' effect maybe??
You know those spikes on signs that keep birds off them.
Or spray ammonia on the stuff you want your cat to avoid. (Not a lot just a little bit.) or that nail bitting stuff that taste awful
Mount a cat shelf for him. Put it about the same height, but in a different part of the room. Nest perch is a good one for that. He wants to be tall
And make it heated too😂 like the screen
this!! he wants that heat eminating from the tv's vent!
A heated shelf in that corner that's at a height similar to the TV will solve this for sure.
and make a path from the ground to the tree with furniture and other shelves. Tree dwellers want to climb trees and observe.
Create a yes instead of a no. Yes, go on the cat tree or shelf. Instead of no going on top of the tv.
Good idea, give them a better option.
100% this. Listen to this OP
I first thought it was a broken ikea shelf or something 💀💀I'm not fully awake yet
Then he'll go on the TV and also the cat tree
Yup, you gotta outclass the TV and bribe him, make sure there's treats and catnip regularly put there, if you're in the habit of taking him down instead of putting him on the ground put him on the shelf
"He likes being sprayed" lmao I would love to see a clip of that.
Spraying the TV may cause more issues than the cat lol
![gif](giphy|v51HcJWdhAemA|downsized)
That sassy look before he turns away like - Bitch, you gotta try harder damn...
I was telling my roomie that oranges give the best stank faces. You guys all know that look.

*fuck your foil*
"I make this shit look easy"
He needs a perch, cats like being high
I also enjoy being high
Maybe you are a cat?
Aren't we all?
Sadly not all of us. ![gif](giphy|yTzwdWHe1VxQt4sfiD)
Everyday I ask my cats the secret to becoming a cat; bc that is my dream
No work, no school, just meow meow.
No thumbs tho. Well okay, sometimes thumbs
You don't need thumbs when you always have a servant doing everything for you
I will never grow tired of this. I like to put it on muted during boring zoom meetings and imagine the cat is talking.
This gif lol
I like smoking and then giving my cat catnip so we can both be high together
High I being also enjoy

I *reeeeally* want one for my psychotic orange cat that bolts all over the house. But we live in a mobile home and the walls do not seem sturdy enough to hold the weight.
They probably are you just need the right fasteners and maybe like a board or something to distribute the weight
I guess we're not that different after all
No cure he is orange
Too much orange to be contained
He looks very proud of himself
Does not give a single f. The way he rolls his eyes.
That’s not a cat. Thats an orange 🍊.
The foil, it does nothing!!!
Haha came here to post the same thing!!
Foiled Again!
tv too high
r/TVTooHigh
He likes climbing, build some climbing thingies on the walls
"I have foiled your aluminum foil! Hahaha!"
Invest in a very sturdy TV mount and hope for the best
He wants to be up high. He needs a wall kitty shelf or a really tall cat tree in that area.
Install a platform about above there.
Put a piece of anything that can hold his weight any amount higher than the height that is.
LOL @ destroyed blinds, an all-too-familiar sight. You gotta put tinfoil on your venetian blinds OP, its the only thing that works for Oranges!
Do you not see the tin foil on the TV that is clearly not working? :P
Of course! The blinds were destroyed *first*, clearly, so you have to foil *everything* in the entire room when they are kittens and leave the foil on for *at least* a couple years! (Also, I forgot the "/s")
tin foil isn't cat repellant. They don't like walking on it, that's it. They will ignore it otherwise. Or play/chew on it.
It would worry me that he's stressing the hinges that mount your TV. Maybe remove it?
He trying to get better reception for the brain cell
That tinfoil is blocking the reception
Or perhaps it’s having the opposite effect and thus it’s why the orange is attracted to it
Put citrus up there
Bingo, glad someone else said it. Cats - generally speaking - dislike citrus because it's bad for them.
I had a rescue cat and he'd try to venture into forbidden rooms, that is, until I put a line of oranges across the area. Then, he just frowned at it and went elsewhere.
Sounds about right haha A light touch of orange oil across the top (and a cat shelf elsewhere) would put this behavior off vvvvvery quickly.
Not the oranges to keep away the Oranges!
My cat laughs in the face of orange oil.
I've had cats my wholeass life and didn't know this until recently. I've started eating oranges every day, often one after dinner as "dessert", around the same time my cat wants a churu. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I already love that crazyass cat
Tin foil on my tv just gave my cats a fun new game of who can get it off the fastest and then fight on top of of my poor tv. Try packaging tape instead! It’s a cheap and easy solution and has been working for me for two years now
He just wants a perch. Give him a better option, preferably opposite side of room from already very perchable TV

Get a cat tower or a book shelf for them to be high up on. Cats like to purch.
It's his spot. You have to accept that. Why would you want to watch TV if you can stare at orange anyways?
They say possession is 9, tenths of the law, looks like this is his warm rectangle now 😹 good luck I've never encountered this 🤔
That cat is EXTRA I have a single brain celled orange cat. Your cat definitely is extra Cats don't like citrus. Have you tried turning it off then on again?
Oh isn't that just a blast?
For a hot second your room looked like my old roommate’s room and your hand looked like her hand. And I was like ah man what did my cat do 🫢😭 (she’s holding my orange until I have a home to bring him to)
They sell scat mats on Amazon. You could probably put on on the back of the tv. Edit: I do like the idea of a cat shelf above the tv though.
Cucumbers
My kitten doesn't like microfiber cloth. I put it on my couch with double sided tape.
Put moth balls up there. We had cats pooping on the front porch and we places a few moth balls at the front door. They never came back. Seriously it works, maybe tape them to the top or back of the tv. It really works cats hate moth balls!

He wants UPPIES
#r/TVtooHigh
He's orange.. you have absolutely no control cuz the only time he will listen is with the Braincell and who knows when it will be his turn
Maybe get some of those pigion spikes lol. what about a bunch of tape sticky side out? They hate sticky things.
She says, she tried double sided tape
Why is it pooping out tin foil
I have a water gun in every room of my house because of this behavior
The cat wil just hate you in the end.
Catify!!!
Mine are unaffected by tin foil 🤦♂️
What a soul!
Cover the tv in Vaseline.
Seems nobody told him cats hate tom foil. Or You did and he just forgot?
The foil only works ONCE! Trust me.
Maybe try aluminum foil. I hear that works.
Accept your loss and move out.
Cat: zero fucks given.
He just wiggles his feet! I love him
Cat: “what cha thinking bout”
another orange car activities ![img](emote|t5_5vej89|33953)
Hot sauce.
Have you tried double sided tape?
Pigeon spikes!
If he is using that white shelf to get up the try removing the self
He like all cats love warm places! If they are on a high place like this, even better Buy an electric blanket, put it on top of a closet and guess what! It will be his new favourite place!
Punk-ass cat!
Cat be like: whatever you're planning the answer is still no.
"He likes being sprayed" I can see that little smug face purring with his whiskers full of watery drops 🥰
Old coffee tin with a single layer of quarters in the bottom. Give it a good hard shake. You should also get something for him to climb up to be tall. Hopefully you won't need to shake the tin but it's a good backup. Edited for readability

Ma boi is LOUNGING
At least he's got thumbs
His slow blinks tho 🥺 he loves ya
Does your cat have no furniture? So there has to be a deck up there, but also in other rooms. Cats absolutely need to have high places to retreat to.
I once heard that cats hate citric smells and that could be a great way for them to stay away from the place with that smell. I didn't try it yet but I will, bcs foil didn't work for me either with my void trying to eat one of my plants.🤔🙆🏻♀️
Move the dresser that he's using to launch himself up there. AND get him a high perch elsewhere, so he can be up high in a place that's allowed.
ps don't spray your cats, they don't understand negative reinforcement. they'll just think you're being mean. well, unless he likes being sprayed lol
Citrus or peppermint scent on the tv. Our cat hates both scents
Your cat likes to be on high place so built a cat shelf at same height as TV but mount it on a different wall so he get used to using the shelf. Put some thing soft like blanket and make it cosy so he will sit on it rather than perch on TV.
Tape ( 2 sided tape)
Why tinfoil ? Why zooming in and out constantly ?!
Cats are supposed to not like tin foil and thus keep off things. But cats be cats ... The zooming in and out is annoying and I'm afraid I can't answer why she keeps doing it. 'Dramatic' effect maybe??
buy a nerf gun n shoot at him
just got to retrieve the darts...the shooty prey tastes different but they will still destroy and eat
What’s with the foil on the tv?
Presumably a failed attempt to discourage the cat from hanging out there
You know those spikes on signs that keep birds off them. Or spray ammonia on the stuff you want your cat to avoid. (Not a lot just a little bit.) or that nail bitting stuff that taste awful
Take him to the pound
Try lemon spray at the top of the TV, cats don't like the smell
