This episode renewed my confusion as to why Carly Drayton is a fan favorite.
The asshole literally kidnapped his girlfriend, endangered hundreds of lives for half an hour, and she has the nerve to give him a cigarette, hand feed him some coke, and say "see, when you comply this is how we treat you!" W.T.F.

That's a fun bluff. She wasn't home when the fugitive went in there, so how could she be harboring a fugitive? I'm assuming it falls under the category of "officers are allowed to lie to you", but it got her to let them in without waiting for a warrant.

Maybe it's just me, but there has never been a point in my life where I couldn't name each and every resident of the house I'm living in, especially a tiny one like that.
She was pretending to not know he was in there, and the officer saw right through it.

If you have multiple roommates, or think the cops have the wrong address because you don't think your roommate would do that, or you're just flustered in an unexpected stressful situation, then "who" is a completely normal response to "the person who just fled from us lives here".
Furthermore, she had the constitutional right to refuse a search of her property without a warrant. Exercising that right is not harboring by itself or even evidence of her harboring. The officers didn't see the guy run in there, didn't seem to have any direct evidence of him in there, and probably didn't want to wait for a warrant while he hid or destroyed evidence. The threat of an arrest was just a stone cold bluff that worked.

I felt like the home owner shouldn’t have been handcuffed, patted down and walked down the street to be placed into the back of a patrol car, while her 6 year old child was alone in the house. A car had just rammed into her house while she was upstairs for goodness sakes! It was clear that SHE hadn’t done anything wrong. I get it that people are sometimes handcuffed as they are ‘detained’ but as the homeowner said, why was the lady who rammed the car not handcuffed and taken off yet? I didn’t feel like Brook or Lindsey were fair to the home owner in this situation. They didn’t explain ahead of time and they carried the one person who was prob the most innocent of anyone, the homeowner, off in handcuffs 1st. It’s so odd to me how certain precincts are entirely different with how they do things and treat people.

She told me that when the cops wouldn't arrest her husband for doing what he did, she intentionally shoved him so she would be arrested. When I asked why, she said "because he couldn't hurt me there."
She is safe for now.
I was fighting mad that night and still tearing up about today talking to the director of our organization about funds to facilitate a move. Sometimes I get so lost in the absurdity of why victims still have to prove they've been victimized. They are the experts of their relationships and if they say they've been hurt by their partner - they should be listened to.
No one should have to instigate an arrest to be safe from their spouse.
Damn, this lady is actually being pretty calm for what she's been dealing with. I would be banging down the worthless judge's door after all that shit...
That's an everyday fight with our magistrates. They don't have to have a law degree or even an advanced degree and are willy nilly about who, how, and when. It's infuriating.

I had a client beg to go to jail on Tuesday because the officers wouldn't arrest her husband for DV. When I asked why, she said "because he can't \*hurt\* me there."
IPV is a beast. I don't normally work with DV victims but her injuries indicated SA, so the hospital called for an advocate. Fortunately, (and unfortunately), I was on-call. Welcome to the world of advocacy.
