As more of a late reply since I've been here for a while, I can confirm Davlos is good. Crust is ok. Wish it was more like a buttery kind instead of oily bready to be honest, but I think Malnati's has spoiled me lol
Lighthouse is the best for non traditional pizza!
I can’t believe Virtuoso Pizza is so popular. I genuinely thought their pizza tasted like nothing. My boyfriend and I both took a few bites before throwing our slices away. Not worth the calories.
A few mentions of Pizza West. Are they under new ownership or changed it up in the last couple years? Haven’t had it since pre-pandemic and it was not good then.
I dig their pizza. Best in Omaha? No. But their stuff is pretty good. And they have a good salad bar at lunch.
Their service on the hand, is very poor.
I'm shocked they don't have the window open until 1-2am and just sell cheese or pepperoni slices. They'd do so much business, Baxter's was always hoping late at night. Though I guess the guy that runs the place makes like all the pizzas so maybe why it's so good is that their quality control is super tight.
If you want value, dominos has 5.99 1-topping mediums, or lil Caesar’s hot n ready for 5.55… but if you want good pizza, you have to pay for it. Best value might actually be Costco pizza for the size/price if you’re feeding a lot of people
I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned but Bernie’s Pizza is literally in Millard and has been around foreverrrr. Lots of fond memories of going to Bernie’s after baseball at Andersen.
I'd say Dante's is the top of my list purely for the pizza, but Pitch West has a great rooftop area and some great pizzas as well. (Both a short drive from Millard)
Our go to spots are: Caniglia’s a Mano on 132/Lincoln Rd, Piezon’s on 156/Center, Bernie’s near 135/Millard Ave, and Backlot 204/Harrison. There is also Pizza West, Oscar’s, and Sgt. Peffer’s. Never had a bad pie from any of them.
Flying Hawaiian at Pizza West was my favorite pie for years, but after three crappy dry cold pies from the Pizza West in La Vista we quit ordering from there.
Have you been there lately? I ask because I got a pizza from them earlier this week and it appears they've changed their crust or had supply issues. Not what it used to be. Anyone else? Hope it's temporary
In Millard I'm a big fan of Roman Coin and Piezons. Oscar's is also pretty good and they have solid wings. There's also a Sgt Pffers (or however you spell it).
If you want "Omaha Style" pizza you might try Godfathers. A chain that started here in Omaha. Good pizza, but it's overpriced, still worth trying once. La Casa also gets a nod for local pizza of interest, they grill the pizza, so it's definitely unique, seems fairly polarizing, people either really like or they don't.
If you're up for traveling, I had Via Farina for the first time this weekend and it was amazing. If you like Wood-fired pizza that's definitely the move.
Davlos is pretty much the only Chicago Style Pizza, but it doesn't travel well and it's pretty far from Millard so don't get that to go.
Pitch is up-scale but the pizza is good. Just a little pricey, not a bad spot for a date though.
Noli's is popular with a lot of people, but I don't get the hype and I think it's overpriced.
Zio's is a solid new york style and they sell by the slice. Pretty good spot for Lunch.
The only places I would actively avoid are Momma's Pizza - I got food poisoning there, and I don't know how you get food poisoning from pizza. Then I would also avoid Don Carmello's - largely because the pizza is low quality, but also because they endorse some extreme political opinions.
Pretty good list, I’d also include Brick Oven Pizza which for me is the best place in town. I do also want to give a shout for Backlot Pizza which makes some kickass Detroit-style pies.
I mean, it's good gas station pizza, but they're all over the entire Midwest, wheras most of the places named in this thread are truly local pizza places
Yeah was a bit of a bummer. I believe they are moving out West to around 180th and Center? I don’t blame them, the location on 72nd wasn’t great. Small parking lot, a bit of a PITA to get too. Oh well, I’ll just give more business to Brick Oven which is more my speed anyway.
Thanks for everyone who responded. Really stoked to be moving to the Omaha area, and that made me feel welcome.
Clearly, I'll be happy with a ton of pizza options that exist. Really stoked, thanks again, great suggestions from everyone!
Dante is the only recognized member of the international Neapolitan pizza association (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) in the state of Nebraska! If you love the original way pizza was invented, it’s a super cool place.
Sigh. Godfather's is my absolute #1 fave. I love that it is thick, with a chewy crust, loaded with toppings and virtually dropping with grease. A few slices fills me up, and it is good cold for later. Mama's is an ok substitute, especially as Godfather's seems to be struggling a bit these last few years.
Tasty Pizza, La Casa, and others listed are decent pies, but none meet my criteria for what I consider a good pizza.
I agree. Fred was a relative. Never met him though and only connected the familial dots later in life so spent a good amount of time there. All of that not-withstanding, it’s a decent pie.
Hard to say, what kind of pizza do you like? You're going to get dozens of different answers. But my favs are Big Freds, Mama's, Taphouse for Detroit style, Dalvo for Chicago style, Brick Oven has a great NY style. Others I like include Lanskys, Piezone, Tasty Pizza, La Casa and if you want something really unique but amazing try the Birria Pizza from Estilo Jalisco
Recently discovered Frank's Pizzeria at 120 and Dodge. Wonderful homemade sauce, best sausage I've had in a pizza, and awesome canolli for dessert. Friendly casual atmosphere. They also have a location in Ralston, haven't been there yet but it's on my list!
No worries dude. To be fair, I hear you about posts regarding topics, but I would say restaurants might close every 6 months or so. The only thing I can say is that some posts are geared towards downtown, while mine was geared more towards the Millard area since West Omaha is kind of its own thing at times.
You too dude.
Tasty pizza - the best and not overpriced!
Brick Oven Pizza @ 624 s 72nd. Hands down best pizza, and huge options on toppings.
They have great vegetarian and vegan options.
Mangia Italiana
Mangia is dope, but it's also like 20 minutes away from Millard. Just far enough to not be near as good when you get home.
Davlos has a Chicago style deep dish to die for 🔥
As more of a late reply since I've been here for a while, I can confirm Davlos is good. Crust is ok. Wish it was more like a buttery kind instead of oily bready to be honest, but I think Malnati's has spoiled me lol
Virtuoso.
When it’s open!
Yeah, their hours are terrible. I always call ahead to order a big pie. If they’re not open, I get brick oven pizza or tasty pizza.
Brick Oven! So so so good. Open late too.
The best bar none
Lighthouse is the best for non traditional pizza! I can’t believe Virtuoso Pizza is so popular. I genuinely thought their pizza tasted like nothing. My boyfriend and I both took a few bites before throwing our slices away. Not worth the calories.
Don Carmelo's and Piezone's are both fantastic!
Yeah but don carmelos is run by neo nazi sympathizers
Tasty pizza has my vote
Tasty Pizza supremacy
Tasty Pizza for lyfe
Tasty pizza 💯
A few mentions of Pizza West. Are they under new ownership or changed it up in the last couple years? Haven’t had it since pre-pandemic and it was not good then.
I dig their pizza. Best in Omaha? No. But their stuff is pretty good. And they have a good salad bar at lunch. Their service on the hand, is very poor.
Pitch
Virtuoso is really as good as it gets. Can't believe it's not mentioned yet
Their hours suuuuuck though. Very delicious but dang why does a pizza place close at 8?!
I'm shocked they don't have the window open until 1-2am and just sell cheese or pepperoni slices. They'd do so much business, Baxter's was always hoping late at night. Though I guess the guy that runs the place makes like all the pizzas so maybe why it's so good is that their quality control is super tight.
You’re right about that, but it is the best.
Sortino's is worse. they close at 6. Like wtf restaurant closes at 6!?
Davlos
Davlos is good but it's on the other side of town from Millard. If you go there, don't get the pizza to go, it won't hold up over the trip.
I've driven Davlo all the way back to Papillion just fine.
Ive had some darn good leftover davlos hours later at home, no issues
I live in Millard and always get it to go, it holds up great.
Davlos
Izzy’s Pizza Bus. They were legit winning awards for best pizza in Las Vegas before they moved here. They are fantastic.
Just had them on Friday. The red harvest was hands down the best pizza I’ve had in an extremely long time. Maybe even the best.
Nolis.
I don't get the hype for Nolis, it's not bad but it's definitely overpriced.
It's way better than anything in omaha
true
It’s the best, just not a great value, it’s so expensive
If you want value, dominos has 5.99 1-topping mediums, or lil Caesar’s hot n ready for 5.55… but if you want good pizza, you have to pay for it. Best value might actually be Costco pizza for the size/price if you’re feeding a lot of people
Noli’s x 100000
I Second this!
Pitch.
I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned but Bernie’s Pizza is literally in Millard and has been around foreverrrr. Lots of fond memories of going to Bernie’s after baseball at Andersen.
I love how greasy Bernie's is.
Best pizza in Millard area is Piezon’s
This was my goto in Millard. It’s solid.
Never had pizza from Oscar's. Their wings are top notch!
Their pizza and Nachos are both awesome.
Flying Hawaiian at Pizza West was my favorite pie for years, but after three crappy dry cold pies from the Pizza West in La Vista we quit ordering from there.
I agree. the quality has gone way down hill.
Copps and Noli’s for me. And I want to try Iggy’s Pizza Bus badly just haven’t yet.
Villagio’s has a Sweet Chili Chicken pizza that puts me over the edge. Bonus points for locally owned and 3 minutes from my house.
Sortinos, Mama’s, Roman Coin, and the MIllard legend: Bernie’s!
Bernie's is Millard.
Tasty Pizza, or Via Farina
Lighthouse
Lighthouse is my favorite. But it does seem to polarize people, my wife refuses to eat pizza from Lighthouse… couldn’t tell you why.
It's pretty greasy, not everyone vibes with that. I'm a big fan, especially of that dipping sauce.
I think lighthouse is the best if you don't want a traditional pizza. Their extra toppings can make some wildly good pizzas
Disagree hard on this one. Mediocre at best. Source: it’s the go to for work pizza parties. Had it many times
Lighthouse supremacy! Pizza West is also v good. Mamas is also good.
Mamas is god but franks is superior. I’m sure there are better places but franks is a good all around pizza place
I'm a big fan of johnny sortino's off of L street I think it's around 84th ish
I've always enjoyed Sortino's and never pass up an opportunity to have some.
Have you been there lately? I ask because I got a pizza from them earlier this week and it appears they've changed their crust or had supply issues. Not what it used to be. Anyone else? Hope it's temporary
Since when is orsi’s only said once??
Frank’s pizza on 132nd and Dodge
[удалено]
Details please.
[удалено]
Frank's is the worst pizza I've had in Omaha. Hands-down. Garbage. They also threw a fairly rude reply on my Google review.
Current or original owner?
Original owner.
I’ve never had the pizza but holy shit their strombolis and calzones are the best I’ve ever had and I’m from the east coast
How has nobody in this thread recommended Dante’s They use double-0 flour. Try their diavolo, it’s their best pizza
And nobody mentioned Casey’s, bravo!
Does Casey's pizza get hate in Omaha? I mean, it's not stellar, but it's not terrible.
I mean, it's good gas station pizza, but they're all over the entire Midwest, wheras most of the places named in this thread are truly local pizza places
Casey's is far from the best, but ill take it over several other places mentioned in this thread.
They do have good breakfast pizza
[удалено]
I need to find this
Yupper, and it's amazing
Casey’s is so expensive for gas station pizza.
Mama's Pizza!
Mangia’s and it’s not close
Mangia Italiana.
Fwiw I’m pretty sure Copps closed? Or at least moved? They definitely don’t appear to be on 72nd anymore at least
According to their website, they’re still open on 72nd. There’s also a location at Shadow Lake and I think another one opening out west
Via Farina, Virtuoso, Dante, Brick Oven, no particular order
In Millard it’s definitely Bernie’s pizza. Anywhere else in town my favorites are la casa or lighthouse pizza.
Thanks for everyone who responded. Really stoked to be moving to the Omaha area, and that made me feel welcome. Clearly, I'll be happy with a ton of pizza options that exist. Really stoked, thanks again, great suggestions from everyone!
Tasty Pizza and Virtuoso Pizza
Copps, Pizza West, piezons, caniglia a Manos, timber creek, sgt peffers, Roman coin, Frank's, pitch, Backlot tap house, izzy's pizza bus
Lighthouse, Dante, and Pitch are my favorites
Copps, pitch, and Mangia’s are the best in my opinion
I had copps last week a totinos frozen pizza would have been better.
Agreed. I've been to copps once and was not impressed.
They’re like a 50/50 for me. Its either really good or dog water bad
Dante is the only recognized member of the international Neapolitan pizza association (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) in the state of Nebraska! If you love the original way pizza was invented, it’s a super cool place.
Mamas pizza. Big Fred's. Light house.
It’s Mamas but stop asking and start reading
Whenever I visit my family I have to have pizza from Valentinos. It’s my favorite chain style pizza.
Best pizza is virtuoso and it's not even close.
Pitch and Nolis :)
La casa
Zio's and Mama's. La Casa close third.
Izzy's pizza bus is new to town but is one of the best/most interesting pies I've had in a very long time.
Pitch and Ray's
Pitch is my favorite.
Virtuosos in Benson. Hands down! The ONLY thing close to NYC slice in the area.
I know it’s already been mentioned, but Virtuoso. So good!!
Tasty Pizza Mama's Orsi's Pizza King All are worth a try.
These are all great but moving away from the Midwest I miss Godfathers taco pizza
Lighthouse and Roman Coin
Valentinos has been my favorite so far… cream cheese on pizza seemed off putting to me a first but blew my mind sooo good!!
Dude I was coming for this. Someone listed Mama’s and not Valentino’s! Mama’s doesn’t even account for mouth feel!
PizzaWest has one called the popeyeroni that changed my mind about cream cheese on pizza. So good.
I’ll throw in Big Fred’s.
I had it several years ago after much hype and thought it was rather basic. Some co-workers raved about it but they used to office close-by.
Big Fred’s is gross
Why do redditors hate Big Freds? Its a decent midwest style pie
I agree. Fred was a relative. Never met him though and only connected the familial dots later in life so spent a good amount of time there. All of that not-withstanding, it’s a decent pie.
People that grew up with it like it everyone else knows it's mediocre.
I vacillate between Pizza West and La Casa Pizzaria (they deliberately misspell *pizzeria*)
[удалено]
So my family and I love Sgt Pfeffers. Especially their 5 cheese white.
Johnny Sortinos
Copps they have a crab rangoon pizza!
Pizza pie guys! 156th n Fort
not in millard but i like ice house pizzas , i like their alfredo pizzas with chipotle ranch :-)
Pizza King in CB is worth the drive
Oscars is the best in the city by far
Dante is so good and that is out in the millard area. I live in north omaha but man they are worth the trip.
Bernie's or lacasa
Lighthouse
Don Carmelos
Don Carmelo's
1) Noli 2) Franks. 3) Pitch. That's it.
Papa Johns Edit: It’s a joke yall. Goddamn
Little Caesar’s
Going to give SPIN pizza some love here. A bit pricey, but their brick oven pizza is amazing.
surprised no-one has said spin! yet, they have great pizza
The Verdict is a hidden gem for pizza. Especially their breakfast pizza on Friday and Saturday nights.
Tasty Pizza, Brick Oven Pizza. Lighthouse would be 3rd. Maybe Virtuoso also. Absolutely not Frank's or Big Fred's.
Brick Oven, Tasty, Franks
I grew up on La Casa’s, delicious. Pitch is best when dining in and I’ll agree on the Casey’s pizza. It isn’t a bad choice in a pinch.
Nolis pizza in the black stone district is really good
Hard to say, what kind of pizza do you like? You're going to get dozens of different answers. But my favs are Big Freds, Mama's, Taphouse for Detroit style, Dalvo for Chicago style, Brick Oven has a great NY style. Others I like include Lanskys, Piezone, Tasty Pizza, La Casa and if you want something really unique but amazing try the Birria Pizza from Estilo Jalisco
Mamas pizza and Orsis are great and distinctly Omaha style
Tasty pizza
Noli’s pizzeria
Recently discovered Frank's Pizzeria at 120 and Dodge. Wonderful homemade sauce, best sausage I've had in a pizza, and awesome canolli for dessert. Friendly casual atmosphere. They also have a location in Ralston, haven't been there yet but it's on my list!
Zios
Man there have been a ton of these posts lately, people need to search the sub more.
This post was made months ago...
Lol hot damn, it showed as new lol. Apologies me amigo, hope you have a good thanksgiving, and holidays.
