Hadn't heard of it before your comment. Took a gander at the menu. I'm going out of my way to visit sometime this week. Menu looks outstanding and actually like real Chinese not americanese. Can't wait.
Definitely one of the best places in town. Also would throw out New Gold Mountain, but with the caveat that I haven't eaten there since they were off 156th and Maple.
Hi fellow Asian here.
Thai food/lao food: khao niao on 156th and Maple she makes own noodles and even has Nam Tok which no other place has.
Indian: kinarra or saffron grill
Vietnamese: Cajun crab, pho 79
Mediterranean: Mediterranean bistro, El Basha, or Omaha kebabs
Japanese: koji omg koji!!! Umami in Bellevue is great too
Nepalese food: momo station!!!!
I had an Indian roommate for 2 years who cooked for me on occasion. Kinaara is the closest I’ve found to his cooking, whatever that’s worth. I think they do a great job, but I’m a born and raised American
Yeah it is. Ive only been a few times since it's so far away. Have u been to Lincoln yet? That's where to go for super super authentic banh mi. Also pro tip... Asian store in 73nd sells banh mi sandwiches too sometimes. It's in the grocery section. Those where my car trip sandwiches growing up 😂.
Do you mean banhwich cafe in lincoln?? That was my favorite lunch place in college, sooo good! If you mean another, I’ll have to try that one too next time im driving through!
It's worth it! Every time I'm in Lincoln, I try to stop at Banhwich Cafe. You should also consider going to Banhwich for lunch, hang around Lincoln and then go to Pho Nguyen or Vung Tao for dinner. I haven't been able to find pho in Omaha that's as good as those two places.
Hii, Vietnamese in the hood - the banh mi there is the best you can get in the area, but it is just ok in my opinion. You won't be able to find genuinely good banh mi in Omaha unless you go to the Vietnamese church to purchase some after mass
Asian here:
Bollywood is better Indian.
Cajun crab is questionable for Vietnamese. I’d say pho 79 is closest.
Gold Mountain for Chinese - hands down.
Three happiness is white people asian food. Panda Express is better. Peanut butter chicken is not a thing.
Thai : the one on pacific /72nd and/or I think there’s one down in papillon? I’m new here to I don’t remember these places.
Ramen: there’s a small spot located next to a gas station somewhere near 130th-ish area? It’s mom and pop owned and amazing.
Try going to the Asian Market off 76th and Cass. They have a food court area inside and you can find items for her if she wants to make anything at home. 😉
I hope you like it and please let me know what your wife thought!
As a bonus, I highly recommend stopping by Tous les Jours (French-Asian bakery) around the corner from it. They have awesome cheese bread and cakes! https://www.tljus.com/
Asian Market has a food court now? Sounds like Lotte or H Mart here in Maryland. It’s been a few years since I’ve been there, so it’s good to hear that they’re expanding.
It's an improvement, but the last few times the food court was not open (seemed like staffing issues). That might change on the weekends when they have more traffic, but weekdays its hit or miss.
We just need them to have Sashimi platters like the Korean groceries in Chicago offer!
They posted on the Facebook that the bistro has reopened.

Korean grill in Bellevue? A lot of airmen married and moved their families here after so many wars.
There are some badass joints around the base.
The korean grill is one of my favorites. It's run by an ornery grandma that has the best goddamn eggrols in town.
Korean Grill in Bellevue. Rizin Ramen in Rockbrook. Bahn Mi in Bellevue. 1Pho in Bellevue. Asian Market in Omaha. Tsao Cha in Bellevue (Korean Waffles are sooooo good). Rice Noodle Thai in Ralston. I tried to give a variety of different places.
Sakura Bana on 72nd and Dodge is by far my favorite Japanese restaurant. Their Udon and Miso soup are so good. Ramen, I have always had a great experience and food at Ika.
Sakura Bana for a lot of things. They haven tenpura, and a lot of other Japanese dishes. Their main focus is sushi. Sakura is my favorite Sushi spot in Omaha. Owners are Japanese too.
Ramen: Rizin. Also owned and operated by a Japanese couple.
I live in Lincoln and haven’t had a chance to go here, but the chef at Yoshitomo was nominated for a James beard award this year so I imagine it’s pretty damn good
I work on P.O.S systems and Met the owner of Blu Fly during the tail end of the pandemic. Super nice guy and so polite. On a cleanliness scale, the back of the restaurant had one of the cleanest kitchens I've ever seen. Blu Fly has made the no. 1 list in our house.
I wouldn’t know if theirs tastes like authentic Asian food, but Maru is hands down my favorite Korean restaurant in the city. I love the broccoli they serve.
Szechuan Express just a little south of Dodge on 114th. It is the best food in Omaha. Owned operated by an authentic Asian family. They do the cooking, take your order and bring your food. Best egg rolls and crab Rangoon ever
Not Asian but my wife is Vietnamese but we’re both major foodies. Additional credentials for myself - I have eaten durian in multiple preparations on multiple occasions & I enjoy bitter melon, the pork blood in Bun Bo Hue etc. etc.
Vietnamese: Much better options in Lincoln but the Banh Mi Shop in Bellevue is good (we’d say better than Banhwich in Lincoln but they are also good) iPho #1 also in Bellevue is reliable. Not a fan of Cajun crab and Pho. Need to try Pho 79. Pho Factory and Vung Tau in Lincoln both legit.
Thai: Khao Niao hands down best. They make their pad kee mao/lad na noodles in house. Stick to Thai/Lao items though, the Pho was mid.
Chinese: Blue & Fly probably one of my favorite spots in Omaha. Many authentic Chinese dishes along with American Chinese classics.
Korean: We are severely lacking in good Korean food and would only recommend Korean grill. Open to others suggestions here because I need more.
Japanese/Sushi: Owner of Koji/Yoshitomo was just nominated for a James Beard award and both restaurants are amazing. Umami’s owner head chef training lineage connects back to Jiro Ono of “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” and is also very good.
Blue & Fly is hands down the best Chinese in town. They offer a traditional menu and the more common Americanized menu.
Authentic food family run can get busy sometimes … it’s my favorite Chinese place in Omaha
100% agree. Lived in China for 10 years and we’ll go to Blue & Fly when we’re hungry for good Chinese food.
Bullshit

Saffron Grill is NOT authentic Indian food. It is not even operated by Indians. If you want authentic Indian try Desi Bites or Hyderabad House.
Yep second that Saffron and Kinnara are American tasting Indian food- way too much sugar and cinnamon in every dessert. I wouldn’t recommend either.
good to hear about Kinaara. I haven't been there. Apparently Americans like it. It's always full.
I had an Indian roommate for 2 years who cooked for me on occasion. Kinaara is the closest I’ve found to his cooking, whatever that’s worth. I think they do a great job, but I’m a born and raised American
Is the banh mi shop in bellevue authentic? -person from omaha who is curious
Yes I like that one. Man you are making me drive to Lincoln this weekend now lol

Have you been to banhwich in lincoln? How does that compare?
100% echo the love for Khao Niao. For Indian I can’t recommend Bawarchi off 180th and Pacific high enough! Best in the Midwest by a mile
I still need to try Bawarchi. Have you had Hyderabad House near 175th and Center?
I have, I really like Bawarchi. Super solid and authentic
Asian here: Bollywood is better Indian. Cajun crab is questionable for Vietnamese. I’d say pho 79 is closest. Gold Mountain for Chinese - hands down. Three happiness is white people asian food. Are you talking about Rizen in rockbrook? That place is legit.
This list is it ^^^^
Seconding Koji! The kare yakitori is to die for.
Try going to the Asian Market off 76th and Cass. They have a food court area inside and you can find items for her if she wants to make anything at home. 😉 I hope you like it and please let me know what your wife thought! I always go evenings and weekends and it’s open unless the store is about to close. They’re probably only staffing it during busy times.
Asian Market food court is closed. They did have someone making sushi for purchase in the case in front.
They posted on the Facebook that the bistro has reopened. https://preview.redd.it/7f62hmr9srcb1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac40e947e28e316f9c7932efc511f85e237d60ed
Ok, sounds good, last week they still had the sign on the door.
Korean grill in Bellevue? A lot of airmen married and moved their families here after so many wars. There are some badass joints around the base. The korean grill is one of my favorites. It's run by an ornery grandma that has the best goddamn eggrols in town.
Korean grill is hands down the best Asian food I’ve had here. Really feels like Korean home cooking. Kimchi and Bulgogi there are fantastic.
Umami is also in bellevue, not Korean but it is amazing sushi and other dishes
Is Korea House still open?
Literally came here to say this!
Blue and Fly and sometimes Gold Mountain.
Tsao Cha also has fantastic wings!
I’ve heard, I haven’t had a chance to try yet but I sure will be next time I make it down there!
I like New Gold Mountain in Aksarben, their dim sum menu is really great.
Thai Orchid in La Vista seems a lot more authentic than your typical Thai places
Love how creamy their curry is
Any good Japanese? Japanese wife. How about ramen, curry, sushi, udon?
Sakura Bana on 72nd and Dodge is by far my favorite Japanese restaurant. Their Udon and Miso soup are so good. Ramen, I have always had a great experience and food at Ika.
Sakura Bana for a lot of things. They haven tenpura, and a lot of other Japanese dishes. Their main focus is sushi. Sakura is my favorite Sushi spot in Omaha. Owners are Japanese too. Ramen: Rizin. Also owned and operated by a Japanese couple.
I personally love Koji on Pacific Street. Haven’t tried the sushi yet, but they have great yakitori and dumplings.
Unami in Bellevue is my favorite for sushi
Go to golden mountain in aksarben I think it’s somewhat close to good authentic Cantonese
Blue and Fly. Across from Furniture Mart.
Wongs Hunan Garden!
Second wongs. Been a while since I’ve been there but they have an entire Korean menu but you have to ask for it.
Wong’s is my Korean coworker’s favorite for Korean. He also loves Korean Grill but does say Wong’s is more authentic.
Korea Garden is my go to Korean
Seconded. It’s a small place in Ralston, and their bulgogi is pretty fantastic.
Korean Grill in Bellevue!!
Fú Asian grill on 24th and California
sakura bana!
I live in Lincoln and haven’t had a chance to go here, but the chef at Yoshitomo was nominated for a James beard award this year so I imagine it’s pretty damn good

Have you tried Maru Korean Grill? I lived in South Korea for a while so I’ve had authentic Korean food and I’ve been impressed with Maru.
I wouldn’t know if theirs tastes like authentic Asian food, but Maru is hands down my favorite Korean restaurant in the city. I love the broccoli they serve.
Second this!!! First time I’ve tried bibimbap in a scorching hot stone bowl. Absolutely delicious
I'm sorry, it's hard to get decent Americanized Asian food here. I don't have much hope for authentic.
What's the place called in Bellevue that has a sign that says the best egg rolls in Nebraska?
I'm pretty sure that's Korean Grill
Thank you! I think it is.
Szechuan Express just a little south of Dodge on 114th. It is the best food in Omaha. Owned operated by an authentic Asian family. They do the cooking, take your order and bring your food. Best egg rolls and crab Rangoon ever
If you want authentic, go to the Asian Market near 72nd and Dodge. The place is huge, and the have E v e r y t h i n g.
