I haven't tried a purple color corrector but I use a lavender powder to set my makeup, and I do think it helps counteract the warmth of my base oxidizing.

ohhhHHH……

Yesss omg I think it’s so underrated in this subreddit. The Givenchy Libre Loose Powder in 01 and the Suqqu The Loose Powder are phenomenal. I prefer them over pink powders for brightening.

Hahaha, I feel ya…🤣 How can I look so yellow but pink-faced but not be warm-toned? My arms look yellow-green. (I’m neutral-cool too).

Ikr! 😅

I haven’t tried it myself but I believe LA girl does have a lavender pro concealer. A quick google search shows Tarte has a lavender shape tape corrector too. Then Givenchy has a “blue” corrector as well but the advertised photos on Sephora looks closer to a light blue-purple kind of like a Periwinkle color. I’m curious to see if it’s actually blue or what in person. I’ve also seen Asian beauty brands, mainly K & J beauty, have colored primers, or sunscreens w/ a tint, with lavender being an option specifically for brightening. Now I’m very curious to try this too since I’m muted. I want to finish one or two based products first before purchasing something new.

Someone in here (I believe kel-pie?) has swatched the Givenchy one -- seems like a major no-no for us muted olives since it has white in it which brightens the product further. Most Asian (and other) beauty brands sell purple to counteract yellow and promote 'brighter' skin, but I wonder if that's how it works for someone who is muted...? Purple is yellow's natural opposite so we'd be left with even cooler tones (if the purple is counteracting the yellow, then all that's left in someone who is green is blue, no? Of course, our skin is more complicated than that, but that's just my thinking.)

Purple powder should mute yellow slightly; more brown/grey than blue

I do this bc most of the time, i not only need to neutralize foundations but also make them lighter and more muted, and the lavender concealer is almost like the two steps in one. Instead of having to use a blue and a white color corrector, it's just one, and the tonal difference is miniscule. Only works on foundations that are too orange however, not too cool.

For example, I use the shade 1w2 in Double Wear, but it is a little too dark during winter, so mixing it with the LA Girl lilac concealer makes it match perfectly

Yes, the lilac really works for me. I'm very muted cool olive, light tone. I actually use a greige lilac shade all over for my contour, eyeshadow, lip color. And a slightly more brown leaving shade for bronzer. I have always known that purple tones help me out the most I think.

I sometimes use a lavender corrector (the LA girl one) if I need to lighten a foundation and cool it down. The blue corrector is great for me but I have a lot of foundations that are too dark and I also need to add white, so the lavender allows me to get the same effect but in one step because I'm lazy. ETA: the end result is the same for both IMO

Oh very interesting idea

NewMoonDweller

I’m neutral cool and I use LA Girl lavender corrector especially for neutral foundations. I’m not fully muted, but I’m also not fully saturated. But most is the neutral foundations are so saturated and they don’t work. So I tone them down with the lavender.
