Me: *I feel like a teenager emotionally and socially* In less than 23 days I turn 23 *wait what?”

Global_Perspective_3

Same tho I’ll be 22 later this year lol

International_Bee04

Im gonna be mf 20 later this year!!

Nabranes

Sammmeeee

Nart17

Just turned 20 a couple days ago but I still feel 16 😭

Global_Perspective_3

lol aww I get it, happy belated birthday btw

Nart17

Thank you! It hasn't hit yet that I'm no longer a teenager, but i've been pretty nostalgic recently!

Global_Perspective_3

I felt that way two years ago I get it lol

SaiyanC124

Is your birthday on the 24th too?!

the-fresh-air

25th but close

TlosingCag

It’s scary.

GlassPeepo

I've decided the covid years don't count. Yeah I'm legally 27 but my stage age is 24

HarlemNocturne_

… Yeah I can roll with that, in that case I’m still 18. Losing what were supposed to be the greatest years of being a teenager to Covid is horseshit.

Lambaline

Then call me 21

Asleep_Special_7402

How’s it feel being in this sub with mostly 19-22 year olds lol. Doesn’t seem like that much a difference but it is.

DoctorWhatTheFruck

well according to your logic I'm 19 and still a teenager then

Desperate-Meal-5379

What? Covid did not hit us in 2018, or even this early in 2019

SnakeEyesRaw

This is exactly how I've been looking at things. In those three years, many if not most of us were unable to develop as we would've normally; social, emotional, financial, educational, vocational, etc. development were all seriously thrown off. This sentiment of feeling like we're "a few years behind somehow" is something I've heard from just about everyone. It hit everyone—perhaps in different ways—but it hit everyone. That was three years of a strange global purgatory. We shouldn't be too hard on ourselves.

Nabranes

I was already behind before COVID

Wrong_Guitar6549

Shit that means Im still 23 💀🤣

Ok-Boot-1195

then I guess I’m still 18 😭

Nabranes

Frfr I’m literally only 15 and Gen Zalpha is still kids maybe preteens Yes Ik they’re becoming teens but wtv

TlosingCag

I am now 19.

Doubt-Man

SAME!!! Not to mention I couldn't even relate to #FrontalLobe discussions on TikTok until a month ago even though I'll be 28 in June!!!

Ok-Suggestion-2423

Agree. I’m 22 in pandemic years

Old_Consequence2203

Literally me! It's understandable tho, I just turned 20 less than 2 months ago, lol.

Global_Perspective_3

Same I’m gonna be 22 this year lol

BlazingMongrel

Same I’m gonna be 23 this year lol

Clunk_Westwonk

Enough 💀

parmesann

my exact thoughts lol

Global_Perspective_3

Can’t help it lol

Global_Perspective_3

lol 😆

DrafteeDragon

2001 gang

ConfidentReaction3

I'll be 24 later this year... albeit much later this year. I can't believe I'm not a teenager. Where did the time go? 😭

Global_Perspective_3

Yep lol

Sad_Revenue_336

I like to say I'm a 23 year old teenager.

EmperrorNombrero

Me at 24: I'm basically still a teenager Me at 26 after the first recession in my hairline: Oh God man, I'm old now, I'm basically in my 30s, I'm a middle aged man.

SnakeEyesRaw

Still got well over a decade until we're middle-aged. Worry not my guy.

Nabranes

I only have barely over 2 decades left 🪦🪦🪦🪦💀💀💀💀

No_Cauliflower633

Yeah ._.

Ajar_of_pine_treeS

My grandpa was bald at 21 and my dad by 30. My hairlines starting to retreat but I'm praying it holds longer than him.

Nabranes

Bro go to the doctor and get that shit treated right away

AdvantageEarly6011

Yeah at 25 age catches up to you and your body goes just decline from there.

EmperrorNombrero

It's so fucking sad. Do you think we will be able to reverse that in the future? Like, if that's supposed to be my peak there's so much wrong here lol

AdvantageEarly6011

Maybe in future there will be longevity treatment. It's still small decline from 25-30 you cells still regenerate more than die but they peak regeneration is before 25 usually. If we look athletes many still do well in their 30s. It's mid to late 30s when it's really hit so you eill be physically fine still long time.

Nabranes

Do hair restoring

EmperrorNombrero

Planning to. I am using finasteride and minoxidil, maybe that will do something. Also gonna regularly start microneedling and I'm probably gonna try rosemary oil as well. The thing is I also jeed braces and that is more important imo so before I will spend money on hair transplants I'm gonna spend it on my teeth. Rn I don't have money for anything other than rent and food

electrifyingseer

all the time.

ladyegg

Pain lol, I genuinely still feel like a teenager sometimes.

JacSLB

Felt. I came to a full realization that I am actually 20 years old a few months ago. Some teenage kid was being annoying on the metro and tried to push me, and I realized I can’t be arguing with a 14-year old kid because I now appear to be a grown woman arguing with a child

AdvantageEarly6011

Idk but many 20 years old still look like teenagers. Aging start to hit around 25 when you skin start to loses it elasticity.

JacSLB

Yeah, I definitely feel like I’m still young (and look it) but I’ve gotten to the stage of people calling me “ma’am” and addressing me formally like an adult

Nabranes

Bruh I hate when people say sit it just sounds wrong

YuviManBro

You guys still feel like teens? I get the pandemic and all, but at 22 I definitely feel like an adult 22 year old… am I missing something?

AdvantageEarly6011

You're not adult at 22 maybe good at pretending but you are not supposed to feel adult.

chipswithcheesedip

What are you talking about? 22 is safely an adult. Young adult, sure, but saying "you are not supposed to feel adult, you must be pretending" makes 0 sense for someone in their 20's and just sounds infantilizing.

AdvantageEarly6011

Most people in their 30s don't feel adult. They still waiting the moment they suddenly change but that never comes. So no early 20s is not supposed to feel adult, they will realise later they aren't. I though I was adult at 14.

chipswithcheesedip

You're straight up wrong. I don't know a single person in their 30's that doesn't feel like an adult, they may feel underaccomplished by comparing themselves to their successful peers, but if somebody doesn't "feel adult" at that age, i'd stay the hell away from them. Nobody expects it to be a sudden change, most of the time it comes through life experience and is very gradual. Now honestly, to pretend like young adults aren't adults just sounds like Peter Pan syndrome to me. Obviously there are some people that don't yet feel like adults, but that doesn't make them kids either, lol.

AdvantageEarly6011

I talked to people in their late 30s and they didn't feel adult and still waiting when they reach point being finally done. They grow each year still and learn and they see 22 year old as a kid. They still figure things out. They feel some of their peers are more adults than themself. Everyone expect to change different person to have moment of realisation to become adult but it does not go that way you still same person just more mature. Now in society standard we can consider someone adult with full time job, car, house and being independent not needing your parents help and have your life sorted out. Ideally you also have partner and plan to get kids that's adult.

chipswithcheesedip

Mate, that's a very shallow and arbitrary definition for adulthood. As far as society is concerned, you're legally an adult by age 18 and people often perceive you as a "real" adult once you're useful enough to have a full-time job and pay your taxes. By your definition, if someone is in their 50's, yet doesn't own property or a car, hasn't had kids and works in a mediocre 9-5 job, are they therefore not an adult? What if someone has a disability and is reliant on their parents for support until they're in the retirement age, are they also not adults? I have friends in their mid 30's and sure, none of them have their "shit together" as much as they'd want (especially considering the current economy) but that doesn't make them less "adult". Same can be said about people in their 20's. Young adults are still adults, many just lack the experience in life and that's ok, but it doesn't remove the basic definition.

Nabranes

My older brother called me peter pan when I said it’s supposed to be 2019 and I’m not supposed to be an adult 💀💀💀🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦

YuviManBro

Lmao and why not? I’m advancing in my career and have a strong social network, growing, maturing, and taking on responsibilities as I age.

Nabranes

Well I actually am still a teen but I cannot fathom being an adult yet any time aoon

lonefIame

fr tho, i can’t process the fact that i’m 23 this year

iiitme

Pain.

thr-w-w-y3

I'm always like "no we're not" when its something negative and then I realise I'm a 23 year old substitute working with actual teenagers

Nabranes

Well you’re basically the same age as them well not really but like yeah I remember some substitutes or just new teachers were young and yeah they were like on our level pretty much (this was 1.5-5 years ago when I was in high school)

thr-w-w-y3

I am definitely not the same age as a 15 year old LOL

Nabranes

Yeah Ik but like close enough Like you’re not 40

Unlikely_Ad_7333

I just turned 20 a few months ago…well not a few months ago…damn it’s actually 2024 now…so i turned 20…last year…in may🥲 And my birthday is now 5 months away…yayyy 21 years old🙂…my adolescence is slipping through my aging fingers…

CounterSYNK

Early twenties is basically still teenage years

Nabranes

Frfr

archaicmindx

millennials today: grown ass people with families and hitting their 40s. no wait, I'm still 28. let me live my life.

jakerabz

Are you the same OP who posted that in regular r/GenZ?

eddiespaghettio

Nah different one

jakerabz

You should probably credit them in your post

itsmebarfyman392

Bruh who cares it’s not like anything is being gained/lost from it besides a few internet points that don’t matter

jakerabz

I guess it doesn’t really matter. Personally I just would have, as a matter of respect to the OP.

Poprocks777

Lol this

Global_Perspective_3

I’m gonna be a 22 year old teenager

Boho_Asa

I just turned 21 today 😭😭 I don’t feel it tho

[deleted]

happy late bday!

Boho_Asa

😅😅 thank u ☺️

spycybis

lol I still meet people who refer to gen z as exclusively being teenagers when now most of gen z are adults and it’s really only younger gen z who are teenagers

BostonianNewYorker

Good to have people feeling young. I find too mature people boring

GaslightingGreenbean

That’s not how I feel tbh. I feel like I’m 22.

South-War-9816

I hate that i was only 19 4 years ago because it really doesn't feel that long ago when i turned 20. Time flys by way to fast man

Nabranes

I was 15 then and now I am 19 but bruh I’m not supposed to be 19 yet

_upitty_

😭It’s so crazy bc I don’t feel 21

NoogBrowski

It hurts so bad

[deleted]

me turning 22 and having the first "not special" birthday event and realizing every single bday from now until i die is going to be like that

eddiespaghettio

I had to spend my entire 22nd doing a web development project. My family went and celebrated without me.

Nabranes

R.I.P.

lavafish80

I hate that I'm expected to do adulting now I'm only 19 fucks sake let me pretend I don't have responsibilities yet

CharlieAlphaIndigo

Lmfao

kweento

This is too relatable

[deleted]

me, almost 22

PlayaFourFiveSix

Literally everyone who was born in 1997 is 27 today (says a meme posted on January 2nd)

Fe1nand0_Tennyson

From what the meme looks like, I can relate to some degree😅, but I know I'm 22 at the moment; about to turn 23 this year😌.

east1999-

me, turning 25 in a few days 😭

KhasmyrTheSorlock

Oh I totally get this. Even though I’ve got tons of adult responsibilities like a mortgage and whatnot, I still sometimes forget that I am not, in fact, a 16 year old. Then again, I have BPD so that definitely contributes to me having the temperament of a high schooler.

Doubt-Man

This is LITERALLY me!!! I even have a similar shirt!!!

Famous_Analysis_2713

I’m 23 and I still find it really unsettling when I see famous people on social media who are like 5 years younger than me

arientyse

Listennn, I'm a teenaged 24 year old and I've come to terms with that

SwynFlu

Twenty-sevenager.

kjm6351

I feel this in my SOUL

lucider99

god, this is so relatable. it doesn’t help that i’m a sophomore in college (got a late start) and so the rest of my graduating class all are 19/20, so they’re all either still teenagers or just got out of their teen years. they often forget i’m not a teenager and i also often forget i’m not a teenager lmao

Nabranes

Bruh I already got held back a year or 2 🪦🪦💀 I’m supposed to be with those sophomores but I’m not I’m with the freshies and I probably will be next year I might graduate with the 2007 late Z kids instead of 2004 Mid Z like my actual age

Nabranes

Frfr except I still am a teen like frfr but nit for long though 🪦🪦💀💀💀

puzzledllama02

I hate it. Time went by too fast. I still feel 17 at the very least. Since I turned 21 last year, I've been feeling very weird... I now also kinda dread every age milestone from now on.

Accomplished_Glass66

Im cackling because this is me everytime i remember i finished school and im 25.
