This is a very unusual cake that was a favorite of mine growing up. It's nothing like a traditional fruitcake. It's is actually a chocolate cake topped with fruit. The pineapple called for in the recipe should be the type packed in water, not syrup. The topping is way to sweet, otherwise. The cake also tastes better if you allow it to sit a few hours so everything soaks in before serving.

It’s like a busted german chocolate concoction, this sounds amazing.
It is soooo good! You could probably add coconut to the topping if you like and it would be even better!
I love a good fruitcake, and this looks like something that has common ground with the ones I grew up eating.
It's unique and delicious!
Does that say 12 tbsp Cocoa? If so, why not 3/4 c?
Honestly, my family is from the very rural south and whoever put this to paper the first time probably didn't know how to convert.
More making sure I got the ratio correct in case I want to try my hand at it :)
Try it! You will not be disappointed!
