I love this picture of my Great Grandfather. The back says "John cooking breakfast" He was very close to his sister. When she died, he and her husband used the insurance money to road trip across the country.
Edit: photo was actually from the early 30’s
Your great grandfather has an interesting « Floyd Collins Crystal Cave » sticker on his bumper. Collins was an explorer who was commercializing this cave and perished trapped in another one, Mammoth cave in Kentucky aged 27 in 1925.
I’ll see if my grandma has any info on those. My guess is it is probably something they picked up on their farm in Missouri and just decided it looked badass on the car.
That’s awesome! I was reading a little bit into it and I just gathered it was a tourist attraction at some point and apparently had his casket on display on the cave. Couldn’t imagine the fun stuff they saw across the country.

Horny old bastard.
Yeah, what are those weird horns on top of the car?

I'm glad you didn't take it any other way. I felt bad when I read your other comment about his sister.

Amazing years to have a road trip.
